I like Zombie mode, but its hard for me to get a game going. 29 rounds I think it was on "Five".

I'm not fond of zombie mode, and not good at it either. I think I got to level 6 and that was about it...

Yeah. I really wish I could get those trophies but the most I've gotten in a team is LVL11 I think. IMO if you keep moving you should be good but a lot of the time with randoms they don't want to spend money on opening doors so I have to do it, then I run out of cash.

If I knew the maps better it would probably help but I always get lost, although that Kino one I've learned decently.

Kino is definately the easier of the 2 as it's the easiest to learn and seems generally more open. I haven't bothered for trophies though I probably should, there is definately a problem if you have team-mates who won't open up stuff. I managed round 31 with 2 guys last night eventually I completely ran out of ammo for my upgraded HK21 and ray gun so went down, I kept having issues a couple of rounds before because once you get downed you lose your power ups like juggernog. I can write up a little guide to what I did to hit level 21, and then what changed to hit 31 with a team (not much).

It's funny how the kids that talk themselves up are always underage (read: 14) and can't actually legally own the game

(sorry Legendary :p)

I can talk myself up as much as I like because I can perform as well as I say. I don't do it, but I can. People will be like, ZOOOMMGMGGGGG, you prepube fag, you will never get over a 1 kill streak. Truth is, I am 15, I am old enough to own the game here AND I am a good player with a whole lot more gameplay and experience than most...

QQ, has anyone else noticed that the snipers seem improved again? They seem to be more useful with each patch and now they've gone from near pointless to very usable. I knew 1.04 made changes, but as 1.05 made more changes?

Yeah, the last patch took out that wobble that would occur when you scoped up. You can actually quick scope in it now which they said they would make it to where you couldn't, but now they have made it to where you can. Confused at what they are doing.

Nk and I had a few games last night, we were in a lobby with nothing but corner camping babies for a bit and one was especially campy. I killed him more than a handful of times just taking a dump in a corner, then he kills Nk and squats down where he was for over 2 minutes, wow. Here's a few clips showing him, this was all from the same game as well which makes it even worse. The guy that is in a few ruined my perfect game, I was 19 and 0 and then walked into a room where him and his buddy where just sitting in opposite corners and I got one guy and of course he went into last stand, and then the other killed me...and then Nk killed him for the final kill:tup:

It was fun playing them. They just sat there in one of the spawn points and I was on the other side of their spawn just taking them out. On one of those games, I went 11-1

Ultimately I think they've got it right now, there is still a slight wobble and it doesn't scope to center, but it's off putting enough to make consistent aggressive quick scoping still difficult. As long as it's not MW2 easy I'm not fussed to much, the problem was sniping previously just wasn't fun due to the huge disadvantage. It feels just right to me now though and shows Treyarch are listening to the community whilst continuing to ignore the 360 1337 quick scopez crowd and not just making it like MW2.

Also made a friend via zombies in an epic 30 round run, the last 2-3 rounds with barely any ammo and only 2 guys after losing our 3rd. Not my highest round count but the most fun, simply because it was always so close to death, never built up stocks of cash as we rarely got the useful weapons. I did manage to get a Zeus Cannon to go with Mustang & Sally (which are epic but not enough ammo or points). We eventually lost out to dogs on about round 30, after my partner went down in the round before and lost his Jug without the points to buy more. Many times we all went down but managed insane saves alot involved my Zeus Cannon charging directly at a huge horde of zombies and just blowing them away .

Also  at those campers, some peoples must camp mentality makes me laugh so much particularly when they go to the same spot over and over.

I think the sniping is fixed now and as it should stay. You can quick scope for up close but you can't from far away, that is how it should be 👍.

Hasn't quick scoping always been possible in BO? Variable zoom on 2 or 3? I see lots of people do it just like MW2 it's not quite as fast but close.

If you're seeing it like MW2, you're playing MW2 still I think , the scope still has that tendency to not centre, ultimately 'true' quick scoping in most peoples eyes is zoom and fire the split second the scope comes up. During this period on Black Ops when the scope won't be settled or centred (as it would in MW2) the bullet was completely random as if fired from the hip not even in relation to where the crosshair pointed on the scope until it had settled.

Some people on youtube claimed to find a method but it was very complicated and involved messing with the zoom of the variable as you scope in, click it twice or something and all this inpractical rubbish which was no use for actual gameplay. There's a difference between possible and actually applying it in practice, I got the odd lucky shot before any of these patches but it was exactly that, luck. The way it is now still seems quite quick compared to other games but it's still more awkward then all the others in the series to properly 'quick scope' though you do still have a reasonably short period between zoom and kill. I suppose you'd call it of-reasonable-pace scoping now . Keep in mind that in COD everything is on a very high pace already, if they added a tenth of a second to the zoom time it would be noticable even though it's a tiny fraction of a second and it could literally change the outcome between life or death.

Hmm yeah that's true people always QS from close now.

 ok not as bad as MW2 where you could get an accurate shot before your scope crosshairs showed up. With the right timing, a bit slower than MW2 now the scope crosshairs are on screen by the time you shoot, you can get some auto-aim bullet love. I've done it quite a few times where IMO I should not have gotten the kill

I think the campaign story was a little stupid. Didn't really have a "Black Ops" feel to it. I mean, it just felt like any other Call of Duty game. I did check out Mulitplayer while renting the game and I noticed that the stupid "Invisible to radar" thing is gone. Now, everyone's still visible when they move and fire. You can still get a "Ninja" thing that allows to you move silently, but, in the games I played, there didn't seem to be that many that had it and enemies still lit up when they fired their guns. I remember playing MW2 and glancing at the Map, and literally not seeing ANY red dots. And then getting shot from behind. I mean, if everyone in the game has the stupid "invisible to radar" then the mini-map is useless.

I also like how the MAWS can now lock on to attack helicopters. Very nice. Now you don't have to wait until the pilot sits still for a moment to destory it.

The Tomahawk is awesome. My favorite speacial weapon. It has a nice, satisfying thud when it hits someone, and you can bank it. I actually got a nice kill with it after it richoceted off of like three walls. Best part was, it was a Afterlife kill by the time it landed. And you can retrieve it from the corpses.

All in all, though, It feels like Call of Duty 2010. Not a lot different from MW2.

A few things to comment on there Super, firstly you can still be invisible to radar with a perk as before now under the name of Ghost in slot 1, although if you fire an unsilenced weapon you still show up and always have done on any COD game, you're not visible if you use a silencer but suffer effectively a less powerful gun. Infact this is the game where people use said perk most commonly as it's been around in various form since COD4. If you were on MW2 and didn't see any dots, 95% chance nobody was firing and you had no UAV up (3 killstreak reward). You could also lock on to air support in MW2 as well, 3 of the 5 launchers on Mw2 had a lock feature.

Call of Duty has been the same for a while now (since 4), but Black Ops has made best use of the formula so far I think. Though it has it's issues, mostly to do with various connection interruptions on PS3, it's still the most balanced of the bunch and doesn't have to many 'crutches' for worse players to get cheap success. Add to that a decent campaign (story kinda sucks but it serves for good set pieces and environments) then add to that the addictive Zombies mode and I think this is the best COD so far. Lacking in innovation, made up for in execution.

@Crazed, I think it's more dodgy hit detection then auto-aim  sometimes the detection is all over the place with the snipers particularly on a poor 3 bar or worse connection. I hope they don't tweak it much more from here in terms of the way snipers work though, sure you can quick scope to some extent but more as a tool rather then a primary play style.

 You're probably right, I've had really poor hit detection for a long time in this game :( But yeah I think the snipers are quite balanced in this game.

As for not seeing dots on the map, I agree with Dragonistic that in MW2 you didn't see any dots because no one was shooting and there probably wasn't a spy plane up unless you were playing hardcore. Normal game modes had a lot of people using Stopping Power. I always used Cold-Blooded which was an amazing perk IMO. Hardcore a lot of people used Cold-Blooded because Stopping Power made no sense since it took 2 bullets to kill someone anyways.

Now Ghost is a bit more balanced IMO since it doesn't render most killstreaks useless until you get Ghost Pro. So people are more inclined to use other perks in that slot.

Agree with this, plus all the perks are much more competitive with one another. Flak Jacket, which is a massively underestimated perk by many, for example is so useful in all objective games where people pile 'nades on the objective, and you'll never get RCed again. When I wear Flak Jacket if I see an RC car, I jump on it to save a team mate . I used to think Ghost is the only way to go but I've since realised it's just overall most useful over all game modes, but not the best for everything.

I can't believe you Phil! What has happened? When you started getting serious in MW2 you were ALL about being ninja, there was no other way to play and that is that. I love the fact you have stepped out and tried something new/ adapted to the way CoD nearly forces you to play (out there and owning).

I personally run SoH, Hardline and Hacker. I find Hacker is a brilliant perk as well as Flak Jacket. I prefer Hacker as I can warn a team mate (friend) not to run around a corner and I can see what is coming from a mile away and use it to my advantage. SoH and Dual Mags basically means I am never going to be killed while reloading and I am going to have bullets for ages.

Hardline...well...I think I have hit and missed here. I use it so I can get my killstreaks earlier (Blackbird, CG, Dogs) and then by the time I die and use my Blackbird again I will be able to get then next KS straight after. But then there are the other perks....hmmm. Opinions? Its not as though I play this game much at all, maybe once or twice a week (as I have bought Saints Row 2 and GT5) but input is still nice :).

I usually stick with spy plane, counter spy plane, and attack heli or blackbird. I have found the spy and counter are the best things to use for me for a few reasons. I'm a rusher so I will more than likely die before I can get 11 kills, and constantly having spy plane and counter spy plane going up will annoy the hell out of the other team. The counter is nice because it disables peoples camera spikes and all :) I have one class for rushing which is lightweight pro, steady aim pro, and marathon (having a hard time getting pro on it) and the other ones are just different mixes.

I do still play that way to an extent, it's just adapted to be used in different ways I like to think of it as precision aggression swapping between a more stealthy approach usually getting in behind the enemy team before going to town on them with the same SoH Dual Mags combo. I am definately far more aggressive now because I have the gun skill to do so, but I will still go into ninja mode when I know I'm outnumbered. I use Hacker to further help me so I don't have my route and streak ruined by some cheeky claymore in a random position. That said sometimes I do just go on a tear and if I get on form I just opt to slice directly through enemy lines rather then go around .

As for Hardline I've never been a fan, the way I see it you are more likely to get that one extra kill through the use of say Ghost as you are never a sitting duck to air support or a black bird/spy plane. I think Hardline is useful to other players, but for myself I usually get my higher rewards anyway so it's value is greatly reduced because the difference between 7 and 8 kills is small when using Ghost particularly. Hardline has always seemed to me to be the least useful perk for slot 1 as it never actually helps you kill people and stay alive as you play.

I thought there was no counter except counter spy plane to a blackbird? So, does ghost pro keep you from showing up when a blackbird is up?

Just checking no, no it does not my mistake. Every enemy team who has had a blackbird must be really bad then as I seem to continue to survive if one is up . Also, my rush class is the same as yours (plus pro for marathon) and it is godlike for CTF games . I was using the 74u on it but decided to move away from that gun as it's just a little to easy to kill with so I have the Spectre instead though I've not used it much yet.

I always run the Blackbird as well and usually Spy Plane unless I'm feeling very confident and running 8-9-11.

The Hardened perk seemed a bit better in Black Ops, as well. But, there were a lot of glitches in the campaign. I remember almost getting shredded by helicopter blades when one the the helicopters rose from the ground underneath me. But, they'll only get better with every iteration. I did like the idea of buying weapons, attachments and everything. MP did seem to be a bit more balanced than MW2, as well. There weren't too many games where one team dominated.

The money thing makes things complicated. I like the feature, but it's confusing.

I personally find that statement confusing. Unlock stuff, earn money, buy stuff, how much simpler could it be?

I don't know what they meant  but I'm not a big fan of the system. IMO it should be
A) Earn money, buy what you want when you want
OR
B) Earn more items as you level up
one or the other, not both together.

I have yet to try Flak Jacket because since MW2 I feel so protected by Cold-Blooded/Ghost and Ninja, when I don't have them it's like I'm naked. I have a shotgun and smg class with lightweight and marathon, every time I hear enemy spy plane up I cringe.

:)

I didn't even know you were in this game Nk, until I got the double spray on you:sly: Its funny how the guy looks at the tac insertion and then is like, hmmm well whatever and just leaves it alone. It gets him killed:tup: Watch how I respawn with it, I just rise out of the floor like Slimmer...haha

I've been trying flak jacket, hardened and tactical mask. It's pretty good being able to run through grenades and stuff. I can't wait for hardened pro, less flinching when shot (as if it will save me ).

I hated that...I was trying to get you with the WA2000 /Acog and the guy gets in my way...
