What do you guys thing of this game? I'm in two minds about it. MW2 was bordering on the ridiculous at times, but this game seems to have landed flat-on-its-ass in the outrageous! đź‘Ť

Seriously though, radio controlled cars, crossbows, and funny knives... I was hoping for Treyarch to draw a line under the MW2 saga, but they are perpetuating it to the nth degree...

As much as I like MW2, I was hoping the COD franchise would return to its roots, sadly it doesn't look like that is the case. COD4 has never looked so appealing at this moment in time!
 
Ballistic knives actually exist. They were developed for Russian Special Forces during the 1970s and 1980s, and have been banned in America since 1986. They do actually exist.

Crossbows are an effective weapon for Special Forces. They are silent, accurate and very deadly. Although no Special Forces units use them today, they are a good subsitute for guns.

And what's wrong with a remote control bomb? It's quick, mobile and deadly, allowing for a kill at range. Yes, it's a little larger-than-life, but that's the entire point to the game. It's set during the height of the Cold War, so of course we'll get spy technology.

I'm not disputing the validity of the weaponry on offer, more so the actual premise of the game itself. It seems that with every subsequent game that gets released, the less it feels like the COD I first fell in love with.

This latest version doesn't look like it does anything to redress the imbalances that were evident in MW2 either. Don't get me wrong the shooting part of MW2 is good, its just that it was too easy to get a really high kill streak and pass it off as actual skill, because of the over-powered rewards that were on offer. Forty-kills and single digit deaths start to get a little boring when your doing them on a regular basis...
 
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I'm not convinced that the RC car is a good killstreak. The amount of time your character will be spent idle as you control the RC car I could be running around gaining more kills than it would receive. And you gain the risk of someone finding your body idle and just killing you, like you would on a Predator/Ac130/Copper Gunner on MW2.

I'd rather just sticking with the Spy Plane.
 
I'll be using the spy plane as well. I think many people might use the RC car as sort of a mobile spy camera unless they actually limit the time you have to use it. Otherwise I don't see it being as useful as a UAV would be.

Newsflash: that happens with all weapons. Don't you use scopes? You're mad if they don't, since they make aiming easier.

All weapons except sniper rifles have a limited range. As I've said before, sniping is a completely legitimate tactic, and there are ways of dealing with it. Like, for example, using the killcam to locate the sniper. So what if everyone carries different weapons an has a different setup? If everyone carried the same equipment, the game would get really boring, really quickly. I'm starting to suspect you're one of those gamers who prizes his skills in the game, but gets upset every time someone kills him. I've seen plenty of players who think the game is rubbish simply because someone killed them with a weapon they didn't like. It's not noob-tubers who kill games like CALL OF DUTY, it's the elitist scum with the you're-a-noob-if-you-do-something-I-don't-like-and-I-die attitude, and so far I haven't seen anything from you to convince me that you're anything other than that.

Seriously, man, broaden your horizons. Pick a different weapon next time you play.

I agree with you, I hate that kind of thing too. If I die, I ALWAYS blame myself for my shortcomings not the other guy. Of course I'll have a mini rant if I get killed by the camper in the corner, or repeatedly by the guy walking around with the forty, but ultimately, the buck stops with me.

I often get rounded on by the runners and gunners in MW2, because my style of play does not fit into theirs. At the end of the day, I try not to wander around like a mobile target waiting to be whacked, and if I do get whacked in that way, it is my own stupid fault! đź‘Ť
 
Got some new news people, here's a link to a teaser (done pretty damn cool also) of the new COD. It obviously shows zombies for you zombie mode loving chaps, and they look as if the Nazi's are coming back into a different era, zieg heil :salute::dopey:


Also Gunns4hire did a really in depth go over of BO recently on the NGT channel on youtube if you didn't see it, if you don't know who they are you need to look them up! Here's a link to the NGT channel to save you guys trouble. Good guys that run it, Gunns just got out of the hospital for heart surgery and has been home about a week and now is back in because of massive chest pains, so hopefully everything is alright with him. I had allot of insight with what he was having done because of my daughter having the same thing done, but instead of one hole she had three. So, we have been messaging back and forth talking about it for the last 2 weeks, he's a really good guy and has a wife and kids and all, so hopefully everything works out for him:tup:

Agreed, this is one that I actually want to get the Prestige edition for. That R/C car looks awesome! It's got the wireless camera on it with mic, and it has the screen on the controller and a speaker so you can see and hear what the truck is seeing/hearing. It would be fun for me to have because I would just bug the hell out of my wife with it, and I could cruise it down the hallway at night to see if the kids are in bed or not, and the kids would have a blast playing with it as well. For MW2 the prestige edition was a complete rip off. They said it was night vision goggles, but really all it was, was a cheap video camera and screen with IR LED's to light up everything since IR isn't seen by the human eye and video camera's pick the light up. I knew they were just that when I seen they were in the package, so I didn't even bother. So hopefully I will have the money for it when it comes out!
 
The RC car might be interesting if I was still in school trying to sneak a peak but thats all I'd ever use it for. I'm sure lots of 13 year old boys have it on their christmas wish list but not me. I am getting the hardened edition though.

Meh, I was gettin the real thing at that age:dopey: I would just have fun messing with my kids with it, and they would like to have it to play with as well, 7, 6, and 4 year olds I have.
 
Cool, I use to hate MW2 game on the PC. I thought it was overated junk game, but more I play it more I appreciate it. Now I really cant wait for Black Ops. But this time I am getting the PS3 version.

Probably because it's CALL OF DUTY. I'm a member of a James Bond-themed forum - MI6 Forums - and there's one guy over there who hates COD so much that he goes out of his way to mention how much he hates it, even when he's debating the differences between Sean Connery and George Lazenby.

One which quite frankly nobody cares about because it's a blanket statement from someone who clearly has no real opinion on the matter as they don't like the genre.

If there was perhaps some real constructive criticism to be made perhaps we'd care.
 
Getting back on topic and discussing the customisation trailer, I really like the sound of it. There's said to be different character models based on the perks you take, and it may even be possible to adopt a certain alleigance (ie SOG, Spetsnaz) for your appearance in free-for-all, but that second half remains unconfirmed. What I do know is that it's going to be virtually impossible to get two identical-looking players, even if the only differences are in minor details. I like the way drawing your own engraving design for your gun doesn't require massive graphical skill.

What I like the most though - and this is probably entirely unintentional on Treyarch's part, but props to them anyway - is the way you can customise your scope. They really seem to be hammering this home, which is a bit odd because it's a pretty minor thing, but you can change the colour of your lens and the colour of the dot that appears in your sights. I like this because I'm red/green colour-blind, and one of the biggest challenges I had on MW2 was that I couldn't see the dot on the red dot sight on certain maps; Estate and Underpass spring to mind. I was really inaccurate on any map with an excess of greenery, which is why I took a shine to the snowbound maps like Derail and Salvage. My brother has the same problem, but not to the same extent because he's not red/green colour-blind. I seriously doubt Treyarch put the ability to change the colours in as a way to compensate for colour-blind players, but it's still awesome.

Another new trailer, this time for the single-player campaign. It looks like there's going to be actual cut-scenes this time around, rather than someone harping on about truth and lies while we get an animation of a satellite feed. That was one of the things that sucked about MW2's story - there was nothing to connect the chapters together.

Anyway, I've also heard that one of the early missions will have two of the player characters, Jason Hudson and Alex Mason, torturing a suspect. While I didn't really object to the scene in Brazil in MWS when Ghost tortured Rojas, largely because you didn't actually see anything, this is something else entirely. Here, you're actually carrying it out, which is not cool - even if it was and still is a part of that world. Hopefully, it will be a short sequence like No Russian where you can skip it. Otherwise, it's really killed my enthusiasm for the game.
 
Torture is a part of war, hopefully I will be able to waterboard properly in this game.
 
Apparently the torture sequence involves beating a guy, and threatening him with shards of glass. Possibly at the same time - putting the glass in his mouth and then beating him.

I've also heard a mission late in the game will involve killing unarmed Russian scientists, although the action is said to be justified. They're apparently working on a chemical or biological agent called Nova-6, which is important to the plot. It actually gets used on you and your team at some point, so it's likely someone will die of it and it will probably be gruesome (I had nightmares for a week after seeing THE ROCK because of the way the nerve gas caused the guy's skin to melt off in the prologue). So when you go through, taking out the scientists, it's probably not going to be that big of a deal.
 
Stuff like that really doesn't bother me, especially when its in a movie or video game because its fiction. I did crime scene clean up for 2 years about 6 years back and I could literally eat my lunch sitting beside the crime scene and it not bother me one bit. In fact I never once even wore a mask and everyone else always had one on, its just like a dead animal laying there to me because I didn't know the person and when you get down to it we are just animals. Well I take that back, I did have to wear my mask once because the decomp was so bad that you could smell the sweet smell of death from the driveway. The guy died in the summer in a trailer while laying in his water bed with the heater on it cranked all the way up, guess he was cold. Made it a nightmare to clean up, all the body fluids leaked out and through the floor and all, all that heat made it way worse than any other one I had ever done. So yeah, it really doesn't bother me.
