Okay, seriously. How do you get past "Whiskey Hotel" without getting mowed down as you run across an open space?

edit: Yeah, GTP username used to be Ebiggs until I got premo. So it has been "Eric." for, uh...three years or longer?

Edit2: Whiskey Hotel - RUN FAST, STAY LEFT, STOP in the left-most craters, make it to the downed Apache. CHECKPOINT.

:irked:

3 years, huh? You also had that alien looking thing helmet avatar.

Thanks for posting the tip. I will use it when I get there for sure. 👍

And you're fifteen - 3 years below the certificate. You shouldn't play it at all.

Moving along, I've discovered something else badly broken besides the trophy fail. Party building online. There's about 7 of of us exchanging invites tonight and not one of us has got into another's party or game - "the game is no longer valid".

Fix it. Fix it fix it fix it fix it fix it fix it fix it fix it fix it fix it.

Where's Jim when you need him?

Genuinely amazed about the Trophy thing, that kind of thing is what the Sony QA should be catching 100% of the time.

Thats is where you are wrong I am 16 and some parents see if there children are mature enough and decide if they will aid them in purchasing age restrickted(SP) games.

Which reminds me. I overheard this kid behind me(at midnight launch) who was just 17, and he didn't know if Game Stop would let him pick up his game. Just few minutes later, this guy from the store starts announcing to the line that you must be 18, or are with a parent/legal guardian. I hope he got his game, but who knows? :D

@ a6m5, I am nigh on certain it won't be worth a purchase in my position, because all the online additions are negatives to me compared with 4, literally ALL except perhaps spec ops. I'd probably enjoy the campaign for sure, but I don't have cash for games I'll play once through then rarely touch. The competitive online is the focus with this game I feel, and it is every addition in this mode which I hate, dislike or just don't care. Combine all those with a hatred of COD4 and WaW competitive online, and I mean true hate, I can't stand a single match normally.

I'd never claim it to be a bad game as I've said before, and I feel I have to repeat in order to avoid being flamed to death when I'm in a very small minority but the simple fact is the more they add, the less I like it as they're adding a tonne of stuff that spoils the experience I'm looking for.

I got it running and noticed no trophies. I read how Famine had glitches with them. Well, it looks like they shut them down, for the time being.

So far, the game feels no different from the first. Meh. I was hoping they'd fixed the 'run into a dinner plate, get stopped dead in your tracks' glitch, but no such luck. I hate how when you enter a building, and then try to back out but a beer bottle blocks your path back out. Lame.

I finished the "Predator" stage, which is the most fun I've had with it, so far. I should have like the 'stealth-in-the-snow' level, but didn't. That idiot kept taking my kills! The snow mobiles were lame, too.

So far, it's 'meh' for me, but I'm still having fun. I guess I shouldn't have started playing while I was still feeling 'bleh.' It just might be hampering my fun.

Uh, Mature rating is "17+". What's your GameStop smoking?

Boooooo!

Well, I tried. :D

Same thing the kid was.

You have to be 15+ to get it here so I got a mate to get it for me with my parents permission. This morning I played the airport mission and for the majority of it you dont do have to do anything, seeing all the civies get mowed down was wierd but it was tolarable. The mission after was pretty hard. I am at school but I saved it 3/4 through a mission where you hide in restraunts and stuff. I have just done the thing with the predator missile (not spoling for you guys).

The single player is very very good, the graphics are awesome. On the training mission there is two people playing basketball and it looks so real.

So for those who've gotten the NVG's. How are they?

Is that you on the left ;)

I'd be careful if I were you. Drag's easily one of the top-5 CoD4 players I have on my friends list, with Xbox Live and PSN combined. Possibly in competition for the top spot. :D

Just got my copy (360 version). Just started the campaign and I'm checking out the weapons in front of the firing range.

So what kind of pistol are you guys using? Is the M9 more powerful than the USP .45 or what?

The group of people who don't like COD is far smaller then that! (@ 888)

I've opted for that very first machine gun pistol. Works real well. Not fond of the shotties though. Occasionally, I've used that rocket launcher thing(also the very first one).

True. It's just you! OK, maybe Solid Lifters, too.

This game is fricken' thrilling!

SPOILER

I've heard about that third level, but after playing it, it's easily the most shocking and horrifying thing I've ever seen in a game (and maybe a movie). Wow.

Gotta agree. But, I can also see the ending levels being offensive to some.

As regards the skippable section...

I just watched a video of this supposably horrifying scene and yes it's clear brutal murduring, but it's clearly not the worst I've seen on a game. The straight up mindless murdur could be easily replicated in a game like GTA, any mature audience should be able to deal with the section if they are not skipping (basically, it won't just massively shock you to the point where you'll wish you would have skipped).

The thing about GTA is that you're not forced to sit there and watch someone mow down people, or see them kill civilians begging for life. I also don't recall walking across dozens & dozens of dead body in pools of blood.

GTA's bad, but this definitely can get to people who want to refrain from killing innocent people.

I didn't shoot anybody. Just walked through and shot monitors. But, at the end, I was forced to shoot the police or I couldn't finish the level.

OK, just finished the game, and when I restarted, I finally started earing trophies. For anybody reading this who hasn't yet started the game, make sure to turn off your PS3 when it's done downloading, and then play a game. I didn't earn a single trophy until my PS3 reset.

I think that this is worse than GTA. GTA is shown in an almost comical fashion - it's utterly absurd. This isn't - it's dead serious, and completely sober. I understand that it was included to provoke an emotional reaction from the audience, and in that it certainly has succeeded. Just not a ton of fun to play.

My point wasn't one was better or worse, but this isn't right out there as being massively terrible. For that reason, those who are worried will be skipping anyway, my point is those who don't skip shouldn't feel cheated into doing something terrible. I found the original Manhunt far more disturbing, and even then although I confess to being under the 18 age rating, I found it ok and I certainly haven't imitated it and Manhunt couldn't be much more serious. On a side note, I think it's good to see just exactly what the enemy is like, it should be a motivating force to get the job done because if the villain is just generic evil guy you simply aren't motivated to actually advance the plot and save the day. Having a powerful scene such as this will give the serious players something to think about and make you want to go get that 🤬 after witnessing the devastation first hand.

No screen shots yet?

Here's a couple from a few moments ago:

Picked up 3 copies around 8am this morning for me the missus and my youngest lad, very good game so far I cant really fault it other than the invite system :(

After 2 hours of error connecting we scoured the net for answers and found lots of people had similar issues! to be expected silly teething problems ... but one person had the answer for the problem we had as I couldn't even connect with Kelly my wife ( only connected with Kelly's using the LAN option ) and our PS3's are in the same house

... Anyway some guy on another forum had been testing how to get past the errors and it worked for him and our PS3's also so here's a could be quick solution for some until they get a patch out or something :)

Get your friend to send you an invite but before hand tell him you will be signing off when you recieve it and tell him to wait in the lobby ... sign out ( press the PS button whilst in game and press triangle over account details to sign out ) and sign back on again and then accept the invite from your friend and if you have the same issue we were having it should let you connect 👍 It was the only way we could get around the invites today, hopefully this little fix will work for others! It's defo worth a try as it fixed us up for a few hours and will use the same tactics tomorrow if need be ;)

Good luck

I've found the Spas-12 to be excellent in closer-quarters situations. Just about to get hardcore team deathmatch unlocked though, so it won't be as necessary anymore. I just hate regular mode...It shouldn't take me half a magazine from an M4 to drop someone. And some of my .50 Barrett rounds have left people alive (and not in last stand either).

Which is another thing, I think the gun selection in this game is rather strange. Of course I know the M4/16, AK, MP5 and so forth. But then all of these weird looking other guns. Vector, F2000, TAR-xx. Strange, and none of them seem much different than the next, unlike in CoD4 where I felt every gun had its particular purpose and sort of personality. So then they drop all but the most hardcore of the sniper rifles (seriously, you start with a .50 Barrett as an option? Besides capacity and less recoil, what more can you possibly need? In my experience, snipers aren't going to like this game as much. Most of the maps are very urban/crowded, or just don't have a good long line of sight where anything more than an assault rifle with ACOG can't do just fine (besides the power, see hardcore mode).

But I am happy that the shotguns are useful. I find that in too many games they have about a 5ft range of being deadly.

As for killstreaks, I'm not sure if everybody understood that ever single kill you make doesn't count towards it. The kills have to be done by you. Not by your killstreaks. So you kill three people, get your UAV, then shoot/stab/blow up one more to get your care package. The care package really is just any random killstreak reward (no nuke though ). Say you get an AC-130 from that, and you manage to get 22 kills from the AC-130. You won't get a single reward from any of those.

And from the start you'll only be able to have killstreak rewards at 3, 4, and 5 kills.

You hooted and hollered about Dragon Rising and led me to believe it was the best game ever. It sucked.

Oooook, I have had a brilliant session and am taking a short break to watch TV.

Here is a rundown of my stats.

Level 12
1.36 KD and definitely rising tonnes.
17.65% accuracy.
8 or 9 kill streak.
1 hour 30 of play.

I had a brilliant match, the end result wasnt good (19 - 9 )but I had fun with an Ac-130 for once. The connection was two bars the whole match and I picked up my own care package to find an AC - 130 in it, I was happy with that being my first one ever. I piloted it (I was in the middle of a large field) and I found the bombs have a lovely delay but I still killed 3 people with my first bullet, the next killed 2 and the one after killed 2 and won the match. I could hear the other team shouting out "Bloody Hell!" and "What the 🤬" while we all got to watch my kill replayed at the end of the match, I felt awesome :). My team was shouting whoos and stuff.

Pretty win.

Can you just use your knife for this level?.

Can you just use your knife for this level?.

No, you need to tube the guys at the end of the level, rows of people with riot shields.

EDIT: 600th post in this thread and 2898th post for me.
