The gun is so borked.

Anyway, been trying Spec Ops (because I fancy platinum'ing MW2), but just can't get in to it. Being useless isn't helping.
 
Until yesterday, I had not been on the PS3 after the PSN went down. I popped in CoD4 and started playing through the Campaign again; I rushed through the Campaign the only time I played it and figured it was time to play it some more.
 
Spec Ops is best if done with a friend. Just about all the ones that I completed on Veteran were done split screen with a friend helping. The Hidden level is intense if you're playing it by yourself on Veteran though. Took me half hour to beat when I did that. I still have a couple on Charlie and all on Echo to beat on Veteran before I can get my Platinum trophy.
 
I have done a few of the Spec Ops levels with a friend split screen and it went terribly because I was mostly busy reviving him. When I was not reviving him, I was taking on most of the people trying to kill us.
 
I really hated Spec Ops. It was just so damn different than the multi-player, or the campaign mode. Very similar to the zombies in Treyarch games. It seems harder to put the targets down.

I hope the PSN is back on tonight. I want to play!

P.S. TA, don't watch "Skyline". It's decent enough to keep you watching until the end, and it will 🤬 you off with the ending. You know the kind. And it is a ripoff of three things I noticed: War of the Worlds(Tom Cruiese one), Matrix, and unexpectedly, PS3 game Resistance.

I'd help you, but I am the absolute worst player at it. Kinda like the friend you were already playing with. :lol: One guy who you might have helped with, Dweb0202 or something, he's the worst CoD player in our group, and he pretty much single-handedly carried us through it.
 
I only need the 69 spec ops star trophy and then I'd have the platinum for MW2. I need like 8 stars I think.

Bull crap. The UMP45 is a far more over powered gun than anything else. It still makes the famas and AK74u look like a joke.

You can pretty much kick ass with the UMP just as well as you can kick as with any other weapon in its class.

And frankly, I can only interpret that the only reasons people use the Famas and the 74u is because they're unlocked at low levels and people might want to conserve CP.
 
Not sure what you're saying. The ump is clearly the best gun ever made in all history.
 
I'm saying the other SMGs are just as good as the UMP. You just need to know how to use them.

Well, it is hard to play objective based missions when you like to stay in one spot :rolleyes:

And Splat, you are just wrong. The UMP has the best damage over distance, solid iron sights, easy to manage recoil, large clip size, and so on. And by damage, I mean SCAR/FAL types of damage, while the rest of the SMGs do much less. The Vector is absolutely worthless compared to the UMP, and is only useful if you just want to by stylish.
 
I like the vector a lot. Solid ROF and low recoil are great. Still it has much lower range and the damage is to low to use without stopping power. The UMP is what 40-30? I know the vector is 30-20.

I need 11. Have to beat all 3 in Echo and Homeland Security and Snatch and Grab in Charlie.
 
I've only got the last two with the juggs and need two stars on the oil platform.
 
As I said before, you just need to know how to use the SMGs.Especially the Vector and MP5K. The only reason people say that the UMP is the best SMG (it clearly isn't) is because of its stats. But notice how low its RoF is compared to the other SMGs. Plus I, personally, would take the P90 over the UMP. Just like I would take the ACR over any other AR.
 
The UMP is pretty much OP compared to the other SMGs. Regardless of player "skill", the facts are there, it's a 3-hit kill from any range and although it is weakened by its comparatively lower rate of fire, it still has an equal or greater killing speed than assault rifles like the SCAR-H, ACR, and M4A1.





Just curious, but how many of you still play MW2? I'm thinking of maybe getting back to it. I quit months ago once I reached 6th prestige (I wanted to go all the way to 10th, but I got worn out from playing a ton) and Black Ops stole much of the online crowd. I was just happy to finally get that spinning gold cross emblem and that spinning green star one. :D
 
I'm third prestige with about 25000 kills. I'd be playing it this weekend if I could.
 
Your opinion is your opinion. I won't argue with it.

Also I've been playing MW2 for quite a while. The only reason my k/d is so low is because I get noobtubed/commando knifed/camp killed a lot. But I would care less about k/d in general.

Did you miss my post where I have every mastery title in the game? Or that I'm 9th Prestige and have thousands of kills with every weapon in the game basically? I'm not talking from looking at the stats, I'm talking from using every damn SMG to death. At close close range the MP5 wins out over the UMP in raw DPS, but UMP wins out in that you can SNIPE across maps with it if you use bursts. It is better at this than the F2000 or possibly the M4A1. Then you add in the fact it lets you move faster, faster ADS, and so on with AR levels of damage and accuracy - it is a pretty idiot proof gun. I'm not saying its ridiculous OP, but it certainly is easier and more versatile than any other SMG in the game, and many of the ARs.

On topic, the hardest part in Spec Ops was the Snowmobile. Hard to camp with a snowmobile, that's all I'm saying. Seriously though, that one took many tries. :crazy:

Yeah, been trying Evasion by myself on Veteran. I keep getting to the last bit and failing. Where there's the river part, when there's 2 parties very close (1 man and dog & 2 man and dog) and kill the 2 man and dog, follow the other party up to under the pipe, kill them. And either the three across the field spot me, or I can take those three out and get spotted by the two guys just going up.

Closest I came was when I got taken down by the two guys at the slide in to the village. Which was infuriating. I think I can get it, but I'm bored of it after trying to get it for the last hour.

Although I'm not seeing much point in continuing with it, I'm finding the whole mode very frustrating and once PSN is back up, I'm only going to be in MP anyway.

Actually, I found the Snowmobile Time Trial in Spec-Ops fairly easy to complete on Veteran difficulty. The first time I tried this mission, it took about 3 or 4 attempts before I managed to complete it. I didn't do it using Co-op play by the way.

I've noticed that quite a few people on other sites have said that it was the hardest mission in Spec-Ops, but I really didn't struggle with it as much as some of the other missions.

You do know you can do almost that whole level without killing people, right?

When you get to the pipe, keep as far right as the game borders allow, and crawl on your belly. You can go under/around it, and avoid the sight of the crew down the bottom in the distance. Then snipe the last two, and jump over the slidey bit.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

I'm the same as you now with those last 3 to complete.

Watched a Video for Homeland Security only to find out that there's a 3rd sentry gun on top the restaurant. I had 3 of them set up in the diner owning everything and ended up completing it with almost 120 sentry gun kills. The video I watched for Snatch and Grab was of a guy picking up the shotgun at the start and just sprinting through the level. I tried the slow and steady approach without much success so I figured I'd give that a try. On my third try of rushing I cleared the level in roughly 1 minute 20 seconds. I would have never thought to try that but hey, it worked. 👍
 
I think I got little bit desperate last night, because I went into split-screen & Spec Ops. I don't know what I was expecting from split screen. :lol:

I take it the PSN is still down? I so should have kept my X360. :crazy:
 
You can play split screen against bots in black ops. thats what I'm been doing.
