Can PD Fix NASCAR in a Patch? (Read OP)

Let me repeat this one last time.

-These cars in real life are set up with asymmetric setups. GT6/5 do not allow for asymmetric setups. In GT5/6 you are driving a road course chassis, tire, and aero setup on an oval. IT WILL NOT WORK. You also have no ability to adjust tire pressures, which are probably set around 20-30 psi because that's a standard road course setting. On an oval you'd run upwards of 40-60 psi in the right side tires to handle the load. You can't adjust weight right to left, where on an oval it would be full left.

-This is the old Daytona scanned in 2007. In 2007 you needed a mouth guard to race around here without knocking your teeth out. The track is bumpy, the track has no grip. It should not drive like you see Jeff Gordon and others driving now in 2011, 2012, and 2013.

The reason why real world drivers don't have this problem is because they aren't using road course setups on a non-repaved track.

Sidenote, if @Zathra5_ wants to do the DS3 experiment properly in comparison to GT6, he needs to go to Daytona Road Course with the Gen-6 and use the baseline roadcourse setup.

Wow reading some of these is hilarious. The game is not "REAL" it's a "SIMULATION" To answer the OP's question, there is nothing wrong with NASCAR in GT6.They run the way the new Gen6 cars do to a point. The problem seems to be with your setup, or lack of driving skill, if you are hitting the wall in any turn.Old saying, easy in, fast out, applies perfectly to your situation and NASCAR at Daytona. Not trying to be rude, just an opinion.

As I'm going to stay on topic on why the OP is having trouble keeping the car steady through the corners, I went back online to set for more possible reasons why the machine may have handling issues.

I began messing with the downforce, thinking that reducing the front and rear would make the machine more unstable, it didn't. Softer tire compounds didn't make a noticeable difference and adjusting the transmission didn't effect how the car handled while taking the banks at higher approach speeds.

Full throttle all the way around that track, and without adjusting the suspension these NASCAR machines handle incredibly well pumping out constant 44:8XX times at Daytona. I'd hate to say it but it sounds like the handling issue the OP is having is due to his skill level with the machine.

NASCAR IRL don't need to brake at Daytona, dosen't anyone understand me!??!

what if online and if i suggest this i will:

1.get kicked (if im not host)
2. people wont join my lobby (if host)

If 1. happens then the host is stupid.
2. It's hard to get a group going but only one way to try...

If you want realistic NASCAR racing you're going to have to go to a PC sim. If you've got money to spend and a decent computer, iRacing is your bet

If you want to spend nothing and your computer is a bit past being qualified as new, then NR2003 is the way to go.

You won't find realistic NASCAR in a pick up lobby in GT6. There may be a league or two that run, but every night is going to find either dirty, or completely unrealistic lobbies

You're really not reading through this thread buddy, if you ran the Gen-6 car in 2007 at Daytona with full horsepower, you would probably have to be braking.

And as everybody else has said, this is probably a problem on your end due to either setup or lack of talent to be frank.

I've gone and decided to do the experiment properly using the sim NASCAR Racing 2003 Season, which for a time Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. ran frequently.

I took a roadcourse gen-6 car to Daytona 2010 and loaded in a baseline setup from Watkins Glen, and only changed the gears to allow the car to hit 200+ and removed all left/right weight.

I used a Logitech DFGT to test this

Results match GT6 pretty much perfectly; the car is a pain in the 🤬 to drive. So in reality, GT6 may be too easy to drive.

Driving a nascar should not be like driving a Formula one car. I think PD did a good job with the nascars by making them drive and handle like they do in real life.

Just going to mention that the track record at Daytona for the fastest lap ever is a 42.783 @210.3 mph by Bill Elliott, this was in 1987 before they put plates on the cars. In 2011 Dale Jr. won the pole with an average speed just under 187 mph. I just took a car out for the first time on racing hards and ran a 46.2, that is just too fast for a car on cold tires that isn't setup properly. Real fans of the sport understand this and aren't complaining. it's the people that are useless a at the game and just want to be able to turn left without doing anything else.

Award for most useful post in this thread goes to you; well done. And based on that video and what I know about NASCAR I would agree that GT6 is probably a bit too easy

NASCAR online sucks.... BAD

I can't even take the turn at 203 at Daytona, and the car spins out too easily especially when I turn to avoid a wreck. PD killed the NASCARs IMO. Can't even race Dirty NASCAR properly, I'm more worried about me hitting the wall or spinning, than I am about people wrecking me!

PD please fix or revert NASCAR back to the way they were in GT5 please!!!!

When you say "online, do you mean you only have a hard time with NASCARs or do you spin even in offline, because I can go around on Daytona with the pedal to the metal for the whole lap while drafting and moving around traffic on the straights and bankings just like in GT5, on a DS3. If you only have had problem online maybe you ended up in a room with a low connection quality in the room settings, or straight up lagging server. If not, then you need to practice that dexterity of yours.

The main problem for me with the NASCAR events is the fact that the AI can just spin you out at a moments notice, sometimes in completely bizarre circumstances. That made getting the win at Daytona a very tricky thing as the AI just kept spinning me out.

Anyone have any tips for the non ovals? I only had one quick try at the High Speed Ring and managed a bronze but as its GT, everyone is in a similar car yet the leader tends to be adding seconds on your time for a while.
