I've been reading that running into walls with premium cars will damage them and you will spend tons of money on repairs. Does this come on at a certain level? Does it even exist at all?

damage is at level 1 that it is at level 40. also don't waste your money on the frame restoration, you could do a race not hit a thing and it will show it as an available option. only do it when you notice the car handles like garbage. haven't heard of anyone actually needing to do that yet.

Damage doesn't affect anything. It's purely cosmetic.

From my experience. I've trashed cars at over 200 mph and when I start up the next race they're pristine.

The chassis maintenance is based on mileage, not damage.

my brother managed to flip a car and smash walls 5 times and it started pulling hard to the right. you almost have to be trying to damage the car to get it to do it.

He must have done that online...Mechanical damage can be enabled online, but as for single-player, damage is only cosmetic...

Think it starts to unlock at level 20 then gets worse and worse and fully unlocks at level 40.

Stop spreading this rumor that has already been proven FALSE.

Sony said that there is no damage unlocking you get full damage from level 0.

These two posts are correct.

Only thing I've seen is if you drive a light colored car you will start seeing tire doughnuts and scrape marks on the side of the car. And sometimes if you bang a wall hard it will deform the front bumper/wing, Seems to have no affect on handling and is "fixed" before the next race in the car.

One of the hidden trophies is Watch out for falling objects and is awarded if you can make something fall off a car. I drove a few Permium cars in arcade mode on various tracks and smashed them into the walls and other cars to try to get this trophy. I've managed to dent and loosen the rear bumper a few times (it flaps around as the car bounces) but I haven't yet managed to shake it lose.
The main problem is the tyres go bald first and you can't then get up enough speed to cause enough damage.

Do you mean the damage is the same at level 1 through level 40? i.e. it does NOT get more extreme as you progress up the levels

If that is the case, why do my doors or tailgate open or fall off such as I have seen in videos on youtube? I am at level 16 and have seen NO damage at all.

Please explain that.

I was noticing damage prior to Lvl 18 on A Spec, and definetely damage in B-Spec prior to Lvl 10

Wrong, Sony confirmed that it's not level, but car dependent.

Which means some of the premium race cars have better damage modelling than most other cars.

Thats what i meant.

To your second question, thats because they didn't model every single car to have it's doors, hood and trunk ajar. If you'd rather live in the land of make believe where damage is unlocked then be prepared to be disappointed when king friday doesn't crash into you and blow the doors and hatch off your car.

The only cars ive seen that can have the major damage (doors and wings falling off) are the WRC rally ones (premium), i would assume you would use one of these to get the challenge

Could someone show proof of sony or pd stating that damage is not level based ? Im not saying that they did not but I can't find it anywhere , and tbh with no proof that could just be a rumour as well.

I think the trophie to make a part fall of your car is near impossible. I tried it on the test tracks and i seriously tried to damage the car. I "tested" the indy race and drove the car about 20 times with nearly 380 km/h straight into the wall, nothing happend, except the spoiler of my fgt was deformed.

I think the damage part of the game is just a marketing gag with no real consequences in the game, because if there would be consequences the AI drivers would try to avoid getting damage, which they definitely don't do.

Only way to do it from my experience is running the WRC cars and smashing into other cars. Best way to do this is at a city track with sharp corners and in arcade mode.

The proof is you getting into a WRC car at the lowest possible level and smashing into a wall until pieces of the bodywork start falling off. This is a ridiculous rumour, and choosing to believe it simply because it hasn't been proven false is the same as believing the world will end tomorrow just because no one can prove to you it won't.

I didn't say I believed it. The WRC car is good enough proof for me if I can be bothered to try it out.

Tried it the doors fall off in the wrx wrc. Pity about the other 199 or so premium cars that don't have that level of modeling don't. Does that make the wrx Wrc a premium premium car.
