it makes the car clean obviously. It works in real life too.
hmm i'm sensing a de javu here 💡
as far as i know, it doesn't improve car's performance.

it improves your cars aerodynamics, not by a lot just a little. like if you noticed one day it doesn't handle like it use to, give it a wash and i guaranteed you, it will handle a lot better

Its a matter of opinion, its really just to make your car look new again in my opinion...

After the 9hrs Tsukuba-endurance my Corvette ZR1 RM was dirty all over, the whole front looked dark-brown and the rear-wing totally twisted after 100 accidents. But when when I took it to the oil-change - bling! - it was in showroom-condition again! So, this feature isn't really needed imo, I just got used to do oilchange/wash after some races, and it's only 250 + 50cr, so what?

All it really does is make your car shine and that is all you really need to know about a car wash.

Of course, they'd look exactly the same in photos if you did NOT use the car wash. :)

For the moment, it does nothing. You run a long race, your car gets dirty. You start a new race, it's clean. All on it's own. Without the car wash. I'm assuming at some point PD will either patch it and change it or it's something they intended to do but just never got around to it.

Well you've been allowed to do so many things to your car: drive it, crash it, repair it, tune it, upgrade it, sell it, & even delete it, like a god. Why are you not allowed to wash your car with no acutal effects on them? That surely is not how it works.

The car wash does work.;) I noticed as soon as "Bob" started a race that I had a lot of dirt of my Gallardo, it's painted yellow so it really shows up, so after the race I washed it and it was clearly a lot cleaner in the next race.

It's not pointless. It is very useful for getting your cars looking really good and ready for photos :sly:

If you look at your car in a replay then after doing 50 laps it'll look very dirty. If you press Start and go into photo mode the car will look clean.

I'm not convinced of the Car Wash's efficacy in terms of photo preparation.

Than how about a picture. Because I think you're the only one. And after doing some testing about a month back to really get to the bottom of this, I was never able to notice a difference.

So does this mean that the car wash is basically useless???

I don't know, people keep claiming otherwise. But I can tell you I put almost 1500-km on one car, including taking it off road with dirt tires. And over all that distance, no matter how filthy dirty it became, it was always clean as a whistle before every new race. Others have claimed that their cars begin to show feint smudges but the only pictures I've seen of this are during the middle of a race--not on the starting grid. One simple light contact could easily result in a smudge.

I don't think that the car wash is needed but every time I change the oil in my cars I use the car wash because it's right there and it's only 50 credits.

Yeah... and I prefer to race clean!

Get it? Get it?

*ducks*

Its vital. It improves your acceleration and Top speed because the air glides easier over the clean smooth car giving you less air resistance.

Be warned though, it will also make you braking worse because less air resistance means less drag on the car means harder to slow the car down!

Use this information wisely. With great power....

I'm not far enough along to have a really dirty car yet but in GT4 it got the car looking really clean after it was in a lot of races. I know some may find it pointless but I find it to be a nice small touch of realism added to the series. The more you drive, the dustier or dirtier the car will get. I also like the fact it's gradually happening as well so you hardly notice until after you've used the car for quite a bit then it dawns on you that it's not looking so great. lol.
All these small touches add to a game in my opinion.
