Hey guys , does anyone know of any celebrity GT5 players out there, Jeff Gordon plays, I'm sure theres gotta be some more I wonder if any are as good at this simulator as us. :)

Earnhardt Jr. plays. He has a full set up in his home garage. He uses it to train for road courses. He said that he uses EA's NASCAR to learn proper lines and shift points on those tracks. He also has been known to play GT4, I think we can assume that with his rig, he's pony'd up $60 for GT5.

Lewis Hamilton has mentioned in several interviews that he's a big online gamer, especially racing games. Wouldn't be unreasonable to assume GT is one he plays - no concrete evidence (or PSN id!) though.

I'm sure he has a very different PSN ID so as not to ID himself....

Like "SebasVetl01" lol

PS wonder if he had a hard time with the Lotus challenge too?

Sebastian Vettel claimed he's been playing GT since the first one. Or maybe he just said that because it was a GT5 X-1 Prototype vid....

Can verify that he is a big sim racer. He has raced with us over at Simjunkies.org

I'm pretty sure some of the younger F1 drivers, Hamilton, Vettel and some others play against each other on the playstation. In one of the segments during a race weekend the BBC showed Hamilton and Jake Humphries racing online against Lewis' brother in F1 2010 and I'm sure Gran Turismo's been mentioned before so they might be out there somewhere.

Jorge Lorenzo (MotoGP 2010 World Champ) plays...
He was twittering about it all last week...

Lewis Hamilton mentioned in a BBC interview that he rarely gets time to play videogames, and what he does play is usually the McLaren simulator - his brother Nick however is a very serious gamer especially racers.

Mark Webber is another F1, not sure about GT but I've raced against him on the 360 playing PGR3 - I didn't know at the time but a mate of mine knows his gamertag and he joined us for a few races - he never spoke a word the whole time he was online....

...and he was last every race....

Where did you get that? In the insidesimracing Interview that e plays from his desk without any sim rig, because he is more competitive that way.
He uses iRacing , not EA's game and said that GT5 might be fun but wont be able to compete with iRacing as a simulator.
I also race against Scott Speed in iRacing and actually on Speed TV's Nascar broadcast during qualifying Joey Logano and another driver said that they prepared 2 days earlier by racing against each other in iRacing.

GT5 is a nice couch arcade game that makes you feel like you are a good driver but iRacing is a real simulator. No offense!

I've raced with Scott as well. He really picked up everything real quick and he's progressed up to trucks last race I was in together with him. The thing that surprised me was how well Dale Earnhardt Jr. raced on road courses.:boggled:

Hamilton, Sutil and a few other F1 drivers race each other online a lot, but as far as I know that's PC sims. Hamilton mentioned once in an interview they play using GT cars, so I guess it was probably GTR2 or rFactor.

Loeb used GT4 to train for Le Mans, there was also that photo of Piquet Jr. playing prolouge in his playseat.

I'm sure most racers about to race on the Nordschleife probably practiced on GT4 first to learn the layout, a role GT5 will no-doubt take over.

And I guess Sutil... with Lewis and Heikki too?

Most definitely Loeb.

This was from an interview on Sportscenter a solid 4 or 5 years ago. His habits may have changed, since then.

people seem to forget that earnhardt, Jr. is still an amazing driver. yes, he's not marcos ambrose on the road courses, but he's ran in some ALMS and rolex races with moderate sucess.

as for celebrities playing racing games, I know that about 90 percent (or at least it seems like it ) of the sprint cup garage play iRacing, I know a few sports car drivers (stephan sarazin, for instance) play forza, and I know that plenty of F1 drivers play GT5. not sure on any paticular names past what's been mentioned in here, however.

as for sutil putting on gloves and shoes when he races, I'll have to tell my dad that he does that next time we're racing. it's not insane if an F1 driver does it too, right?

When I still lived with my folks I put on my helmet, firesuit and all and sat down in my race seat to play GT4 as a joke. My mom came downstairs to the den and was just like WTF????

I guess you had to be there.....

Earnhardt Jr spends a lot of time on iRacing, I have raced road coursed with him in the Lotus F1 car and done COT Oval races with him, TJ Majors, and Truex Jr on iRacing.

In doing a test with an Aston Martin DB9 on Nurburgring, Tanner Foust mentioned he practiced for hours on GT4, so he plays.

Jay Leno has mentioned several times that his favorite racing game and the only reason he owns a gaming system is for Gran Turismo and he's provided voice overs for GTPSP and provided PD with ultra rare cars for modeling and sound recording...which is also where we got the Tank Car AKA the Blastaline Special.

Jeremy Clarkson plays, and I would guess at least Richard Hammond does, as well.

I would assume if you're a car guy, you play GT. I bet even Chip Foose plays despite him having a car in Forza.

Just the fact that you own a helmet and firesuit is funny enough! (Unless of course you do actually race :-))
