Actually yes, ps3 is capable of doing this. Wind effects on cars or debris or water on wheels will add realism
Possible if these aren't the game's top priorities:
1. 16 cars on the track
2. 60 FPS
3. 200K+ Poly models
4. Damage (well sort of)

You're confusing a $300 piece of game console to a x thousand dollars super computer. It can only do so much, so compromise must be considered.
Sure we all want our game to look like Avatar but that's not gonna happen anytime soon.

Yes, that's true but in the words of a fellow Filipino to another Filipino... Walakang alam talaga...
This game already has so much to offer and yet...
The interview is really a good read.
* I'm very glad the L-FA will be in. AND the HSV-010.
* I'm glad there is clarity about Porsche now.. It's a little sad, but I can wait for Porsche.
* Regarding to the skidmarks... Kazunori is right, that's just a minor thing. When I'm racing, I'm looking forward, not in my rear view mirror to see my skidmarks.
* About weather.. as he answers the question with only something about skidmarks, I do think weather is still in... Just as OPM said.
* He still gets on with the 20locations - 70layouts thing but.. We'll just have to wait, we had enough discussions about that![]()
But skid marks could have been a great basis too see if your wheels are performing well
True that 👍 And being the perfectionist that he is I'm quite surprised by his reaction.

Yes it is capable of doing this, that is if you remove other details and lower resolution. Can't have everything.
Edit, oops late reply, teach me for leaving the window open so long.
Now will weather actually affect cars performance and also cars parts? thats the question or it is just an eye candy.
Wet tracks in previous GT's affected car performance significantly so I don't see why not.
Will users be able to set up car clubs and racing leagues?
Yes, they will. But I'm sorry but I can't elaborate much at this point.

I find those guys asking for perfection very reasonable. If there are words like "perfectionist" or "redefining the genre" then GT5 has better not stay as just GT4 with better resolution and car model polygon numbers. It has to do things like volumetric smoke realistically suspensing into the air instead three fading sprites, realistic skidmarks with particles of gum kicked up instead of nothing, realistic light projection, rain racing with full effects, time of the day, trees with branches instead of just cardboards, much better AI driving in professional mode with full physics like you have to and greater sounds instead of that poor dead buzzing.
It's really glaring that they use technologies of year 2020 together with technologies from 90's in the same game. I would easilly accept only 100k polygon cars and have many other things better done. In fact I wouldn't notice them because only things that are 100x less detailed than cars constantly attract my eyes in a bad manner.
PS3 is really capable of all those things but PD are just not doing them. They seem to be too blinded by car and polygon numbers. Now it's too late but perhaps we could have progress in other things than car graphics in the sixth installment. I cross my fingers.

I agree, its just to me they should have at least made the trees better, and some skid marks.
But anyway I think gt5 will still be the best racing game ever.
Have a feeling you will be very dissapointed when gt5 comes out RedBaron
There will always be whiners.. It's just a fact, no matter how much you give them.
