does anyone listen to any? (this thread is just meant to discuss christian music, not downplay any other form of music)

sonicflood, dc talk, skillet...my 3 favorite bands in order

I used to like Amy Grant, when I was a kid................ don't tell anybody. :D

Relient K is really good stuff. Skillet isn't too bad and I have seen them in concert. Audio A is pretty good stuff and I have also seen them live. I've also seen a ska band live, but I can't think of their name at the moment.

orange county (OC) supertones? five iron frenzy?

well also tell me some of your favorite songs

skillet - alien youth
jonah33 - all for You
dc talk - Jesus freak (couldnt resist :))

Supertones, that is the one. Well outside of Relient K, I haven't really listened to any of them. I can't really say I'm a big music person. I have always been a really big Weezer fan and listen to a lot of them. As of late, I have picked up liking The Beatles and have been listening to a lot of them too.

But some of my favorites from Relient K are: I'm Lion-O, can't say I don't like it a whole lot because I remember watching a lot of Thundercats back in the day; Pressing On is also good; Maybe Its Maybeline, mainly because it is so dang catchy; For the Moments I Feel Faint, really good song; May the Horse Be With You, kinda along the same lines of Maybe Its Maybeline; and there are some others I just can't really think of a whole lot of songs at the moment.

christian rock (somewhat expertise of) skillet, thousand foot krutch, jonah33, pillar, kutless [my personal favorites]

christian rap, tobymac (yes, former member of DC talk) KJ-52

(edit) sweet, im a GTP enthuasist now!

Just wondering, but do you have any non-religious music preferences? Aside from Diana Kral, Alanis Morrisettes etc.

RelientK, Falling Up, POD, Thousand Foot Krutch, EDL, Fasedown etc... :D

I also like non religeous music. I love EDM, rock, some country and some oldskool rap too. Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Garbage, Soul Coughing, Weezer, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five, Ice Cube, SNoop Dogg, Dr Dre etc... :D

Just out of interest, could somone post some Christian lyrics for me.

www.christianrocklyrics.com
that will satisfy most of your christian lyric needs

lets keep this thread alive
one of my friends friend introduced me to Calibretto, cool band

38th parallel, audio adrenaline, casting crowns, david crowder band, dc talk, delirious?, jeremy camp, jonah33, kutless, mercyme, newsboys, paul colman trio, pillar, sanctus real, skillet, sonicflood, supertones, thousand foot krutch, and tree63 are my primary favorite bands/groups with a ton of other secondary groups/bands/artists

anyone else?

i like some religeos music but a lot of my music is anti religeon. i listen to marilyn manson and a rapped called "DZK" who has a pretty offensive song about having sex with jesus... its pretty sick. but i do enjoy christian metal and rap. if you like christian rap you should check out local ontarian "titus" he raps a lot about christ. but he hates the catholic church for the same reasons i do.its corrupt and does not follow the teachings of jesus.

EXAMPLE: jesus taught to help the less fortunate, the catholic church is the richest church in the world and only helps them out i say about 0.00005 percent of there capabilities. they drink out of a gold cup once a month now that money could go to helping to feed homeless people. i dont think jesus would be outraged if they were drinking the wine out of a plain wine glass.

Newsboys and Audio Adrenaline, pretty much. I have a hard time with the more spiritual slower music. Tends to be way to serious and not any fun. Life is crap without fun.

There's a song by Newsboys on the "Take Me (Us?) To Your Leader" album called Shine that I've always liked.

Skillet, eh? I might look them up sometime. Lately I've been hitting the classic rock pretty hard (:

If nobody has ever heard Skillet, especially in concert I suggest you do right now!

They are BRILLIANT. One of the greatest bands in the world. PERIOD.

Their 2003/04 album, Collide is amazing, especially the album-titled song, Collide which shows superb lyrics and spine-shivering instrumentals.
Their new Album, Comatose is due to hit stores in October and from what I've heard of their new song 'Rebirthing' it is set to become one of the greatest bands of ALL TIME.

As for christian bands, most of them bore me to death with predictable melodies. I prefer musical quality over lyrical quality for most music I listen to.

However, Tourniquet really kicks a lot of butt. They're a heavy metal christian band. Also I like a song or two from Stryper.

I liked most songs I heard from Creed, although their faith is questionable...

Oooo...good thread. :)

Delirious? (of course I'm bias) musically talented and lyrically powerful...I love them to death.

Second favorites are Newsboys and Audio Adrenaline for the reasons mentioned above.

Third being Tobymac, Sanctus Real, and Disciple for rocking it out :)

Obviously, you havn't listened to "modern" Christian music. If you prefer a more modern sound, why not check out Relient K, Pillar, Falling Up, and P.O.D. If you're into metal, check out Stryper, Comeback Kid, Underoath, As I Lay Dying, Fly Leaf, Thousand Foot Krutch, or if you're into that weird math metal stuff, check out Sinai Beach and Norma Jean.

How's that for modern?

Here's a list of Christian Metal bands: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christian_metal_bands

I don't even listen to Stryper, I just threw the name out there because they were the first that came to mind.
