Hi guys,
I've got an odd problem that I've only just noticed and thought I'd turn to you guys first as you always seem to know what's happening.
So earlier on today I was watching a YouTube video and there was no sound. I figured maybe it was just the video, so I tried others, none of them had any sound. I checked the volume mixer; my system wasn't muted but Chrome doesn't show up in the applications as I'm pretty sure it should, regardless of there being any sound or not (Steam is in there, for example).
I tried watching another video and noticed it just continually pauses every few seconds. The play/pause button doesn't change, though, and pausing/unpausing doesn't help, you have to click on the timeline to get it to wake up. So, naturally I uninstalled Flash, or thought I did. The uninstaller claims that Flash is successfully uninstalled, but YouTube videos still work... Surely no Flash means no YouTube? Just in case it's no longer Flash-based, I've just tried right clicking on a game that I know for sure is Flash (Happy Wheels, extremely NSFW!) and clicked 'About Adobe Flash Player' and sure enough, I have version 11,3,31,222 installed.
I'm no stranger to Adobe nor Flash and frankly I can't express how much I hate either, I think Adobe's poor software was a large part of what drove me away from being a 'graphic communicator' (other than being unable to find a job, of course!) and Flash, well, Flash has always been the utter bane of my existence from before I was even born, which was long before Flash existed, actually.
I'm inclined to believe it's Flash that's at fault, but if I can't uninstall it then I'm not really sure what I can do about it. However that doesn't explain why Chrome isn't in the volume mixer. I'm using the latest version of Chrome (21.0.1180.60 m) and Windows 7 64-bit.
Thanks!
