I was just given, last night, an A body LeBaron. I havean Acclaim in the same body. if any of you mopar nuts out there can help me with getting these back up to par on basics, etc, it would be a big help.

been to allpar and allready got the goods. including the fact that Chrysler put a dum-dum access to the comp fault codes. you don't need a machine. I just tested this on a 97 cherokee tonight. the "55" (normal) code came up in the digital odie AND the check engine light. I need MECHANICAL knowlege.

I shoulda said "AA" not A
this is the body they used for Spirit/Acclaim/LeBaron, 90-95, which Neon Replaced
(shudders at the thought that the AA's used K platform parts)

a couple things have been driving me crazy, like the rotted out fuel lines. it must be a DC/CC thing, because My step's 98 Dakota had the same thing with his Brake lines. every drop of those lines in a 91 acclaim is rotten right around the tank. I had the actual feed line swapewd up with HP hose to a good spot, but there's a rotten bit where I assume the sender is that you cabn't do anything with. it drops the poor thing down to 15 MPG.
second. in the middle of winter, the damn heater core AND controlls seized up HARD. everything else on the controlls works, but the fan lever won't move a millimeter. when I yanked it, I found out the heat controlls are Hardwired right into the Harness Grr

with the Lebaron: the tach has an intermittent short in just it. it drops to the floor at odd moments, but doesn't affect the rest of the instruments. there also seems to be a slow leak in one of the Alloys. I wanna swap over the steels on the Acclaim if I can't rescue it, but I wanna make sure I don't screw things up, as the LeBaron has 60's, and the Acclaim has 70's.

Cirrus/Stratus/Breeze replaced LeBaron/Spirit/Acclaim.

And why would you shudder at the thought that AA's used K parts? As much as the K-cars get flack for... well... being K-cars.... they weren't really bad cars.

I'd take a solid Spirit R/T any day!

Guys...these aren't the PERFORMANCE versions. they're basic transportation, to get you from a to b. I've never seen the Spirit R/T, and only have just heard of it (hard to believe the did an R/T for it). i've only ever seen the "duster" packeged 3 door of the previous model group.

unlike a lot of you, I don't boy race on weekends. the only thing we have around here is a dirt oval that they race late model late 80's and early 90's on. stripped to the sheet metal. Hell, I saw a PINTO in the 4 cylinder runs, for pete's sake.

I am a fan of performance, and would LIKE to be able to modify and Rodify vehicles, but you just can't afford to do much around here except drive back and forth to work. the occasional souped up compact or subcompact comes through, but even the Baby Boomers stopped taking their muscles, classics and Antiques to shows around here. they only dig them out for the 4th of July, now, run them for a couple hours, and drop them in the garage. I think it's the weather conditions, road conditions, and the sheer number of Pickups that makes them afraid to de trailer queen the cars.

my mom had a lebaron. it broke though...

were all lebarons plastic, or was it just idiot day at the factory?
