cockpit view only

In GT5 the shaking cockpit view gives me epilepsy. I used to race NASCAR online exclusively in cockpit view but can't in GT5.

Yep 100% cockpit view user here.
Obviously not for standard cars, where I revert to bumper 95% or roof 5% of the time.

I race in cockpit view all the time with Premium cars, so do most of the guys at my Saturday Stock Car Series race event (see link in my signature below). Come along & join in the fun!

:D

Cockpit if the car is premium, bumper if it's standard. Too bad most of my favorite cars are standard.

I always use cockpit view in premium cars, it's soo dman beautiful. Also the complaints about shaking doesn't bother me at all.

I'll see if I can join, no guarantees though.

I actually love the shaking. Have absolutely no problem with it. It's something that's been missing from other simulators I've played and it's welcome. Think about the amount a real car shakes when you lose the rear at 300km/h coming off the nordschleife straight.

OK8

It's a pity PD haven't given a lounge restriction to force cockpit view to keep the playing field even for those who enjoy the greater sense of immersion this view offers.

I drive cockpit view with no instruments and no map, its hard at first but i was suprised how easily i got used to it and now im actually faster, the only help i have is abs 1

I drive my Clio V6 or my Suzuki CERVO grinding Seasonals on cockpit view. On race night though, I switch to bumper view. Every other driving game I've played, I've done so on chase cam. GT series almost demands that I drive competitively on the bumper.

Back to the shake/vibration though. I don't mind it, but it's not entirely realistic. The view you're presented with in the game is much more of a fixed camera view, it doesn't replicate a human's ability to compensate for vibration. I agree that the view should shake about, but the shake should be calmer in the centre of the view and increase toward the margins of the screen.

And just to quantify my opinion, I've driven in a rally car, at speed, and I've been driven even faster by an actual rally driver. So I do have some experience of what it's like to drive or be driven, quickly, on a rough surface...

Cockpit view 100% of the time without any HUD, just wish there was a single timer in the top corner to monitor lap times without having the position list on the right hand side of the screen. Love the cockpit shake. Only standard car i've driven for pleasure is the Ruf Yellowbird.

Biggest problem i'm having with cockpit view is mapping the two buttons on the G25 wheel to look left and right. Worked in Prologue but GT5 wont have it :grumpy:

Even though i used to drive in cockpit view in the pc sims, i strangely haven't done that in GT5. Might be the lack of 'look to apex' function.

How come?

I have G25 and my red buttons on the wheel are normally mapped for left-right view?

+1 I love the cockpit view in GT5 but I SO miss this option.

The eye compensates for shaking, I've ridden a motorbike at speed and in NO WAY did things shake like it does in GT5. It's overdone and actually causes physical complaints, I get motion sick so have to stop and the one poor chap gets epilepsy...FFS GT5 ballsed up again (but the wider developer community makes the same mistakes too) Screen shake SHOULD have the option to be turned off or at least a sliding scale to adjust the intensity. Every person is NOT the same.

I'd love that! It would also be good if we could restrict HUD for online racing too.

Not sure. I've done what im supposed to do, assign R2 and L2 but no matter what I change those to i'm always stuck with full beam for R2 and rear view for L2. I know the d-pad buttons on the shifter pod are mapped left and right but i'm sure i've changed those so that only R2 and L2 are assigned for right and left view. Will check when I get home.

Cockpit.. Can't stand the fish eye effect of the "bumper" cam. Or I got so used to the cockpit that everything else looks meh..

Cockpit view about 90% with the steering wheel and about 70% with a controller...

I don't drive standards, they make me sick... :yuck:
