Interesting how different regions refer to something differently. Would be an interestign thread to see what do you call certain items in your area.

Yeah,.... it's wierd in the heart of the country. Any state south of Michigan (south border approx 44th parallel if brain serves), Indiana, Ohio, ect..., all speak with a southern accent,... yet, their not litterally in the south.

My buddy went down to Savanah College of Art & Design in Georgia and he came back with a wicked accent,.... even switched his 'pop' terminology to 'soda'.

I'm going to search a little more about this,... I have a few facts that I want to clarify before I share them.

To address the original questions, for me the answer depends on the situation. Let me take a moment to explain:

Coke is better when served on ice. Pepsi is better when served without ice, but is already cold.

The reason to my logic has to do with the amount of carbonation in the products. Pepsi on ice just doesn't have enough fizz and tends to taste flat and everly sweet, while coke on ice tastse just right. On the other hand, coke served with ice gets watered down just enough to take the bite out of the fizz making the combination desirable.

The same principle holds true for me when the products are served without ice. Pepsi's just right, Coke tears my inerds....

We are talking about Classic Coke vs. Pepsi cola right?

The watermelon Coke from China. Coke has a display of all their products from around the world at Epcot. Everytime we go i fill up a huge container full of it, and drink it, I can't get enough of it.

Other than that it doesn't matter to me, if it has caffine in it, i'll drink it.

So Pako agrees with my theory, just wrote it with more brain power. Simple way: Coke out of the fountain (over ice) Pepsi out of the bottle, or can. :D

The Coke museum in Alanta has a huge room of every single product they make from all over the world. There is a few that taste like cough syrup.

Exactly! :D

However,

If 'Sprite' was in the list, I would have to say that Sprite out of the fountian in Theatre's is absolutely #1 on my list, but only in theatres. Kinda odd isn't it? ;)

I really don't drink the stuff. On the rare occasion I do it is my wife's Coke. At the movies it's Root Beer. Any kind will do. At fast food places it's Dr. Pepper. If they don't have it it's Sprite.

When is Giles going to tell us the answer?

Ok, that has to be your mind playing tricks on you. They all use the same syrup, same systems... how could theatres only have the sprite combination you like?

It must be the combination of the butter they use on the pop corn that makes the Sprite so appealing, or it could be Jedi Mind Tricks.... ;)

A point each for anyone who can name the country and the drink that beats Coke in that country. One member here only gets half points because he should damn well know, and I think he knows who he is!

Spain?

Now...

The answer is: Scotland is the only country where the top-selling carbonated soft drink is not Coca Cola. In Scotland, the top-selling carbonated soft drink is a concoction called Irn-Bru (pronounced "Iron Brew"), which is rather similar to drinking liquid sherbert. It's got more caffeine in it than Coke, and many people swear by it as being the ultimate hangover cure. Mixed to just the right proportions with cheap blended Scotch whisky, it makes a very nice, but potent long drink, and is best served ice cold, just like Coke. The company is well-known for its advertising campaigns, which are usually very funny.

It is good...there was Thai-marketed soda that I liked too; not half bad, but probably 5 people in the U.S. would actually pay for it.

Coke is better to me, but at a restaurant, I don't care as long as it's cold and has ice. Coke seems to hold it's flavor better over time, in my opinion. 10 minutes after Pepsi is served to me, it just doesn't taste right. Coke also tastes better that Pepsi for the unfortunate moments when you are short on ice/cold method of storage.

That said, RC Cola isn't half bad for the extremely rare occasions you can actually find it cold...and I'm starting to lean towards Dr. Pepper where it's served.

The differences are what all those people above said the differences were. Some people just have dull senses, like taste.

I call it soda. I started after I moved out of the midwest and got laughed at for calling it pop. Lately I've been into Slurm. Mmmm... Slurm.

We have a drink called "Creaming Soda"...but we call stuff like Coke and Pepsi Soft Drink...
