This really should go to the Iron Maiden thread...lets take it there. But before we do I'd like to say let's see someone match Nickos double kick with one foot ability and do it live like e does. There is a reason he's been called an octopus.

Look into some Technical Death Metal for true single pedal technique. Or even Gospel. Gospel guys are improvisational beasts.

I didn't know one existed but I'm down. More fitting.

There's a video on YouTube of Nicko at some small fundraiser sitting in on "War Pigs" for a cover band. It was awful. Filling at the wrong times, being too loud, Barely laying in the pocket.

Right after my ex left me I went down a bad path. I would drink a bottle of vodka or rum a night and got into some pretty heavy drugs. I'm really just now getting out of it all. I messed around with a few things when i was younger, but i really took a plunge, to the point that I'm missing about a year of my life. It's taken me a year to bounce back, I have a fantastic job, and a new gf, but I'm still in the dumps so to speak. I have moments of clarity, but half the time I'm thinking of nothing, feeling like the world ifs just passing me by. The worst part is I don't have the "balls" to tell anyone.

Thought I'd get the thread back on track at the very least.

You've done incredibly well to get back on your feet so far, so congratulations!

If you can come this far, I'm sure testicular fortitude is not an issue. You have a job you sound to like and a girlfriend, so have you identified what it is that you feel you're missing? If you can pinpoint why you have these feelings, you can start to consider what you're going to do to change them.

No I haven't yet. I know it probably sounds cliche, but everything seems wrong. Things I used to love, like playing the guitar, just no longer feel right. I used to draw, write, or play music, but the drive to do so are gone, and if I do it all comes out feeling hollow. The girlfriend is great, but feels like a distraction, along with may of my friends. I learned anymore I shouldn't be alone most of the time, I start to just slip and go into a mood for days. I don't eat, I'm an ass, and I'm just constantly thinking about why I'm like this. I know I fit most of the depression list, but I don't trust myself with the meds. It's fair to say I've have more than my fair share of them.

No it's just one of those things that I bottle up and try to forget. If I can keep myself busy, I just loose myself on whatever I'm doing, giving me some peace of mind for a short time. That's part of the reason I enjoy my job so much. I've never talked to anyone, not even family about anything that bothered me. It's not that it's frowned upon, I just never have. I'm somewhat of an enigma to my family. They didn't know my ex left me for a month after the fact. The only close friend I had that, at one time, I felt as though I could speak freely with left me (the ex). Now I'm just trying to find someone, male/female, friend or more, who inspires such confidence for me to speak my mind.

Well that's something you shouldn't be doing for a start! You've come so far, this is just the next step!

I cannot recommended enough speaking to someone about it. You're not the first person who's felt like this and you damn sure won't be the last. It can be difficult to open up. Some people find it easier to talk to someone they don't know, some people find it harder. But I think it would do you a world of good to talk to someone about this in a professional environment. You may just find what it is that's missing or that's changed.

Once you've figured this out and you're on your way to solving it, everything else will fall into place.
 
Strangely enough, with this counselling thing, when I came back from Shanghai to attend a cousin's wedding, I was in a pretty dark place, mentally speaking as I had so many issues with my body which was actually being affected by my mind and anxiety issues as well.

What actually helped was talking to my older sister about it and as I knew she has been through a similar thing, it sort of felt right to just talk to her a bit about some of the issues and I felt some of the anxiety starting to disappear a little bit.

It kinda also helped to identity something that really was niggling me for a *long* time, namely why I had some bizarre reactions to certain things (lack of sleep or just always having a low appetite).

Basically, try to find someone that you can talk to relatively easily about it and that understands that its important to keep private. Or see a counsellor. I also have a dude here (here being Shanghai) who I can talk to about stuff that's bugging me in some depth and he does help to at least highlight something that I hadn't considered and it also allows me to see what I am really thinking of.
 
I get all excited to do things, to achieve things. And when the time comes for me to actually do it, I put it off fearing I might not live up to my expectations. That or I fail on purpose to reassure myself that I am in control of my own life and not at the mercy of some higher power or other supernatural forces. In the end I achieve nothing.

Crazy stuff. :scared:

Well, you seem to have thought that I didn't know what complexity within music is, and I have showed you otherwise. So yes, maybe you should do some actual research on different kinds of genres before you assume that jam bands are the end all be all in talent. That's just being ignorant.

Bubble of a world? Sounds like that's exactly what you live in, considering you probably never heard/took time to explore any of the artists within those genres I mentioned. Are you aware of how many people will say the same thing as me? How basic Maiden and bands alike are? Go find out.

You talk without any knowledge, grow up. You probably brushed off all the drummers/bands I mentioned simply because you cannot accept being wrong/uneducated. How sad. Have a good one!

Think of it as the equivalent to guys who are into working on cars. They care and know all about it but when it comes to talking about parts with those who aren't, it's just gibberish.

People don't actually like it? Wrong. Go listen to Jeff Beck's live instrumental album or anything by Billy Cobham and tell me people don't like that.

Sure seems like it. Well why don't you tell me why they're wrong then? Because it doesn't seem like you are able to.

I have done it before, and have no problem letting someone know again because when I go back and forth with someone who doesn't know what they're talking about I make sure to have my facts in order.

No, I don't because judging and being ignorant are two different things. I'm judging you based on something like "go back to listening to your complex rubbish" because those are the words of a moron.

Take note that I never said I didn't respect that genre or others alike. ****, I've been going to punk gigs for years. You on the other hand, can't respect what you don't like.

Hmm. That may be it although the only thing on the 'Signs and Symptoms' list that apply to me are "withdrawl from friends, family, and other social activities," and "lack of energy."

It's definitely season related for sure, as this 'behavior' seemingly vanishes after the season has ended.

Will look in to this a bit more.

During the summer I often dream about being in school again, be it school in the future or reliving the things I've done the previous year.
 
Erm i guess ill get this out the way.

When i was like 7 years old. I had a friend come over for a sleep over. and we watched porn. And i guess its stuck to me that i cant stop watching porn. It started getting very bad at 14years old. I really wish i can get this out of me but i just can stop, Its been impacting my Sleep. as Dreams. Now i cant go to bed without watching it. as also *wanking* I really want to stop but i cant.... Like i try to do sports and stuff but it always gets back at me, and i think that it will ruin my Sex Life. Some days i can pass it since im dead tired, But its like a drug. Anyone have tips to stop...?, I know its part of Exploring of my body as growing up to being a adult, but its at a point where i really need to stop. I hope this post isnt disturbing.​
