Carl.I'll nominate DJ Champion, which is probably not known that much outside Quebec. (the name sounds a bit lame, but the music certainly isn't)
Solid LiftersBlur - "Coffee and TV"
eliseracerHaven't heard of him and I've lived here for a while.
Hey, have you heard of D-Natural? Quality Quebecois rap right there.
RooYep, it's here.
Carl. No, since I've never been that much into rap, unless the lyrics really catches my attention. At other times I'll find the background music brilliant, and then ruined onced the talking/singing begins...
Have any samples?

eliseracerIt's a joke, really. A perfect example why French people really have no business trying to rap. It just sounds so stupid because half of the time they are trying to be English. It's hilarious.
If you're creative and go your own way, then go for it. But in Quebec, most of the time rap doesn't go like that...
(for the record, I am not a rap listener in the least bit)
SRV2LOW4MEDeftones - Rx Queen
Tragically Hip - Wheat Kings
Tragically Hip - Opiated
I think only Canadians would know the last 2![]()
DukeGuys. Read the thread title.
Go read it again.
See the "not many people know about" bit?
Why are you nominating two of the best-known bands of the last 15 years in a thread that's about songs "not many people know about"?
I'll second this. Anything by Jeff Buckley is worth listening to.xcstiOoh also wanted to throw in
Jeff Buckley- last goodbye
Jimmy EnslashayZlad! - Elektronik Supersonik
Zlad! - Anti-Christ (Both very funny songs.)
Intrepid - Impavid Warrior
Anything by Blue Onion![]()

Yep 👍 Mike Doughty (the lead singer) did a solo album as well, worth a check-outcrimson_menaceAlso, Soul Coughing is pretty alright. It takes some getting used to, but it's cool if you give 'em a chance.
911_CarreraI'm a fan of that Intrepid track, remember? How are they doing by the way?
I'm a big fan of the following bands...

Seconded 👍ZrowHow about some Elliott Smith? I'm pretty sure he's not very well known, even if he should be - really, really excellent songwriter.

Max PowersCheck out John Mayer Trio too. I never really liked John Mayer's solo work, but he pretty much plays straight up blues on this entire album, Mayer can shred on the guitar too, he sounds amazing in this album, Stevie Ray Vaughan-esque.
Songs:
John Mayer Trio - I Got A Woman <- A Ray Charles cover.
John Mayer Trio - Out Of My Mind
Integra Type RRJD2 - The Horror, Ghostwriter (basically anything by RJD2)
DJ Shadow - Stem/Long Stem, Napalm Brain/Scatter Brain (basically anything by DJ Shadow)
👍
antihero
donbenni👍 Top tunes. Also love a bit of 'Jayou' by J5 and 'Ya Mama' by Pharcyde "Your mama's got an afro with a chin strap" etc., love it![]()
