I just found this and I thought it shows how good Forza's sounds really are. You don't know how much I want GT to sound like this  haha.

The Subaru is pretty much spot on, too.

They are nice, but for me, in the console sound department PGR3-4 is still king, Although these are some nice mean and grunty sounds, I wish these were imported into GT5...

Dopplegagger
I am more intrested in how he lauched them w/o wheel spin.

LOL

It's called clutch control with a reasonable amount of throttle control.

Very nice smooth standing starts.

Did I mention they sounded great too lol.

I was just searching for Subaru stuff like usual and that came up, and I thought it was cool and sounded pretty good. I don't have an Xbox though, oh well. haha :D

I always thought the clutch was either open or engaged in FM3. You shouldn't be able to slip the clutch when launching. I think he used TCS and throttle control, because some of the launches left the typical black marks that Forza usually does when you use TCS. Prime example, the Porsche 911 Classic @ 1:50 into the video.

On topic, it's intresting to hear whe the cars are put into first gear. There is an audible difference on most of them. Nice.

Cool video, but I wish he'd spend a few more seconds on each car so we could hear the top end of 2nd gear! Really liked the sound of the Impreza, Carrera GT, ACR Viper and ZR1. 👍

Veerryy nice video. You are right with the subie. I have never heard an engine sound closer in a game before.

EDIT~

Dopplegagger the clutch in fm3 is not just either open or engaged. its fully analogue and progressive, Provided you are using something that can give it an analogue input (fanatec wheel). You can hear it in his shifts that hes using a clutch.

Do you know this for a fact? I do not have a Fanatec so I cannot see for my self, I can only go on what other people tell me. I do have a friend that owns a PWTS and he can answer this for me. I never bothered to ask...

Might as well ask now right? Sending him a text message in 3... 2... 1...

I can confirm that the clutch is analog and works like in a real car. The clutch is also very different from car to car, which makes it an amazing experience.

I am using a Porsche Turbo S wheel and the guy in the video used the clutch for sure.

Thanks for that jabofu and DV. This is something I never heard on Turn 10's affiliated site. DV I apologize for being a dunce. :(

Too bad it's still downgraded from FM2...

A downgrade? I thought some of the sounds in FM3 were refined a bit from FM2 whereas some remained the same. The VR6 engine from VW has the same VR snarl in both games as an example, and I didn't notice much a difference between the two. Both sounded the same to me.

Like GT5, Forza 3 has some nice detail under the hood. The handbrake could also be used analog, if there would be the right input device (Fanatec cs handbrake maybe?).

Both games are really amazing, it would be great to see a collaboration between the forza and gt fans. We shouldnt hate each other, we should race together!

It would only make both games better. Don't understand why people don't see this. Imagine if all GT fans DEMANDED that all of the features in FM3 were in GT5 or vice versa. It would be the greatest racing game on earth.

Another nice touch to the game is when you have a convertible. The exhaust audio is MUCH louder just like it would be in real life.

Forza audio is really good thats for sure. But the best I have heard is in some of the NFS games. Especially the car audio in Hot Pursuit when you select a vehicle. Sounds incredible. Doesnt sound as good in game but still very very good.

Im surprised you havnt seen me championing the pwts here, Im always talking about what a great wheel it is. Ive owned one since day one. And yes the clutch is fully analogue when using it. As mentioned by another here, So is the handbrake, Which I actually didnt know before today.....surprising.

Gonna throw this out there, just in case nobody has realized. There is a controller config option that allows you to control the analogue clutch with the right thumbstick of a control pad. Not a lot of people know, but it's good for getting a good launch while drag racing, I'm not sure how well the config would fare while circuit racing though.

I'm guessing you just decided to completely ignore the simple fact that exhaust notes do no change in FM3 where as they did in FM2.

In FM3, all cars sound like they have race exhausts from the factory. Thus downgraded from FM2.

Eghads...sometimes I wonder if these people have even played Forza 3.

I remember that.

When i played Forza 2 i did a lot of tuning and everytime i bought a different exhaust, going from the less powerful to more powerful, you could hear the changes in the exhaust notes.

On FM3 you didn't hear any changes what so ever.

I don't know how to embed. I'm new kind of.

Edit: Just use the Youtube tag and video code from now on. -espeed623

Use the Youtube tags [ Youtube ] [ /Youtube ] (remove the spaces) and the Youtube video code. Normally a YT link would look like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA_Fc1a2DGM). Take off part of the URL until you've got only something like "JA_Fc1a2DGM" left. That's the part of the Youtube link/URL called the video code, and that's what you put in the tags. For example:

Edit: Fixed.

A collaboration between Forza and GT would be awesome I agree. Forza sounds and livery editor together with GT physics and diversity would be the best game ever.

But in the long run I think that the competition between Forza and GT is better for both games than a collaboration. Cause if they go together, there's nothing left for them to be better than. Imagine if all supercar makers got together in the 1980's, then we wouldn't have cars exceeding 400 km/h today, they would still just be in the 300 zone because whatever they produce would still be the fastest car on the planet and that's what counts in the eyes of the customer.

The more you adjust pitch, tonality and speed of sound digitally the worse the quality gets, especially when you're doing it with the same processor that's rendering a racing game 60fps. There's a trade-off, realistic high-definition sound or highly-responsive dynamic sound... not very easy to do both.
