God almighty is there a bit of conflict over this thing.

As a known car reviewer on here, I can say that the car handles well enough for sure and is a damn easy thing to get kicking out, but it honestly didn't feel like anything special to me. The acceleration is pretty rapid as well, but I'm not a fan of the 6th gear for cruising at all. It comes in at just the wrong point.

With all the prototypey stuff on it, it does look rather cool. Those 4 exhausts look very sightly, and it seems to be modelled bloody well for a prototype.

I've never been too interested in the muscle car side of the world - because I'm British, mainly. This won't change that, but it's a decent thing to drive. But I'd still take one of my 8 LFAs if I wanted to drive a high-level FR. I understand that is like comparing beef to a computer, but whatever. Just waiting for 'The Full Monty' really.

It doesn't tickle my taste buds.

I'm not fond of the way it handles, and the understeer is something I wouldn't expect from this type of car, neither do I like the sound. Even driving it on CM with no ABS, I still never really got excited about driving the vehicle, it didn't seem to have a lot of life or soul, but that's just me. I feel there are much better or much more fun cars out there at the same and also lower PP levels. In PP racing, I've found it to be suprisingly slow on the straights and have overtaken them in lesser cars.

Maybe when we get to tune it I can mold it to my tastes, but for now we're restricted to stock form. Too bad, I was looking forward to driving it when I heard about it's release.

I'd be interested to know what everyone is actually comparing this car to, if anything at all. (Or is it just a "feeling" that it handles well?) Besides that fact that it is way under-powered (which probably helps with the opinion of it handling so well, since there is less corner entry speed and wheelspin on corner exit)...

Go grab a Z06 and ZR1 vette new from the dealer, and detune them to have 467hp @ 1500lbs. Equip everything with sport hards but no other mods, no aids (including ABS = 0), properly set the brake bias to just barely lock on full pedal, and make some laps on your favorite track.

On Trial Mountain (over 3000 laps run there) using an auto tranny for consistency, I just ran the following times on back-to-back 5 lap races:

C7 - (467hp, 1500lbs) - 1:38.15
Z06 - (467hp, 1500lbs) - 1:36.53
ZR1 - (467hp, 1508lbs) - 1:36.03

With both the Z06 and the ZR1, the laps were easy and consistent within a couple of tenths. With the C7, most laps were in the high 1:38 range and inconsistent, and it felt like I was constantly fighting the car when pushing it.

At no point have I said it can't be driven, or that it isn't fun. But, does it handle good? It depends what you compare it to. If you compare it to previous 'vettes with similar PW ratios, I don't see how anyone could say it's "good", especially considering it's supposed to be the next generation vette.

If that makes me an idiot, so be it. To each his own. ;)

Just waiting for 'The Full Monty' really.

Agreed. I'm anxious to see the final version of the car.

I've really enjoyed driving it so far, it's is good fun when you want it to be but also composed and controlled when your racing. (True racing drivers struggle with the latter though ;)). But what do I know, I'm just another one of those '99% of gtp-ers who has no idea how to drive fast...

An idiot? Really?

It doesn't handle good...at least not on my simulator rig, completely stock with all aids off. It's not completely horrible, but it certainly isn't "good".

Or maybe the people saying it handles good are driving it with aids and soft tires. :)

*****

Try putting some harder tires on it and turn off ABS, and maybe you'll be able to feel the inconsistency in the way it handles.
I have driven it with Sports Hard tires & ABS off on the Top Gear Test Track. Other than locking them up in a few turns, it was fine. Maybe if you drove a real car, you would change your mind

Maybe if you read post #454 you would understand my comments a little better.

As for driving a real car... I've been working on, building, driving, and racing real cars for 31 years. How about you?

People are finally getting some sense here.
Some people.

Why, because they are agreeing with you? There is no right or wrong answer here you know, only peoples opinion of the car and what they think of its handleing. Just because we don't share the same opinion as you doesn't make use senseless like you are implying.

I've driven countless sports cars throughout my life. Including a Dodge Viper, C5 Corvette, Chevy Camaro SS, Jag XKR, '57 Bel Air, '68 Camaro, and a VW Golf GTI, which I own. & I'm only 18. I have raced on tracks such as Watkins Glen, Daytona, Talladega, Pocono, Englishtown, Road Atlanta, Road America, and Villeneuve. I have been woking on the '68 Camaro with my cousin for almost 2 years.

Is it just me that doesn't think it understeers that much other than what can reasonably be expected?
Sure, there's some understeer but not to the extend it hinders (or annoyingly noticeable) and it can easily be corrected, in fact I found the 'Vette to be surprisingly neutral with a slight but subtle and easily controllable tendency to oversteer.
It feels a bit heavy but once you get used to that it it corners pretty well and very easy to drift through corners if you choose as well.
Did a 7:40-something lap on the Nordschleife using the default Sports Hard tyres with some room for improvement I'm sure.

And if we cant be bothered to go back a few pages?

I'm better than all of you at the game so I know better and therefore you shouldn't like the car.

And I'm the 1% of GTP who knows stuff about cars.

That's it really.

I haven't really driven it yet but I like it not just for the car but also for what it represents with the future of GT and their relationship with the auto industry.

Understeer? I didn't think it understeered at all, balance was spot on with it, a very capable and enjoyable to drive car.

Funny im pretty sure thats how alot of us test the car out but if your unhappy with it thats your opinion.

I second this

Hahahaha i almost crapped myself after reading this just seemed right for the whole discussion.

I mean though seriously. Why argue about this CONCEPT CAR so much. It doesn't have the true C7 specs. It can't it just can't

I would like to extend you a challenge, send me a FR and race me 1 on 1 same car same track. When I beat you, you stop posting on GTP. You know, since 99.9% are too slow compared to you, it should be an easy win for you

To stay on topic a bit, I think it handles Ok. Has good turn in and corner exit, but it has roll center understeer pretty bad. Dropping to comfort softs helped, and IMO its a more realistic tire to what it would have IRL anyway.

Hahahaha BOOOOM.

It could have the C7 specs.. We won't really know until next year??..Remember it's just a standard spec C7, not a Z06 or ZR-1..

I have not tried the car yet using my wheel.. But it has been great fun with a DS3! Love it PD.. :)👍

Then again I'm no alien..:ouch: I can hardly make the top 1K :guilty:..On a good day :dunce:..

If this happens, I want to be in that lobby. Strictly as an observer that is.

So, reading through the last few pages...

Which side are the idiots, exactly? Because I'm seeing some detailed posts with reasoning for how the car handles on both sides of the argument, and then I just see 5-6 posts in a row of self-aggrandizing nonsense about how those detailed posts explaining the handling characteristics (on both sides) are made by idiots because the car so obviously handles terribly/awesomely.
