I searched quite a bit on this, but couldn't find anything. Maybe it's out there, so sorry..

But anyways, my question. Why do I see people with such ridiculous camber angles? I can't see how 10° of it would provide good handling.. And it looks pretty stupid too, like something's broken on the suspension. So why do people do it?

I think when they go that extreme, they are going for STANCE. <-- google Camber Stance whips haha

Its for looks. Possibly drifting. I don't do either so this is the best input i can offer.

I can understand a the wheel sitting perfectly in the wheel well, since how a car sits In my opinion is the best or worst thing you can do to a car.

You can have all the trick parts on a car in the world but 2 things will ruin it ALWAYS

Bad stance

Huge rims and rubber band tires.

Just for giggles I guess, I just used more than 4.0 at the front on my Civic tuned for Best Motoring Shootout, it works well. But 10.0 would be overkill

What is the limit hp for 280 class - 280hp or 300hp ?? I am putting place holder here for my Top Fuel EK Civic Type R :embarrassed: A detuned version of 390ps Top Fuel Civic from the late 90's.

Tuned with 1.07 GT5, please test it online, see if it's drivable ...:embarrassed:
More to come ... :D

Note the front wheel steering angle due to the combination of big camber and toe :)

I used 10 front and rear for this mockup of my tune for the Lotus Elise Type 72 because the owner of the car told me not to make it look ugly.

So of course I put 10 camber on it, max toe front and rear, and painted it Matte Purple with Matte Pink rims. Not ugly at all.

The crazy camber is because of this thing called "Hella-flush cars". Its mainly a bunch of JDM ricer cars that people cruise around in. When you see "Hella-flush meet", if you join they will all have honda civics and ridiculous camber angles lol.

The real life Top Fuel Zero 1000 380ps EK9 Civic Type R has about the same camber as my tune-maybe a bit more in fact, a bit extreme for track battle car, but it does the job at Best Motoring race against Knight Sport RX7 and Mine's Lancer Evo V.

It's pretty silly. If you could adjust the wheel width and offset it'd be a different story. Although if we did have those adjustments it would mainly be for pics and cruising.

It just looks stupid with the wheel sideways and not even close the the fender lip.

Super Mario plays this game and needs that extreme camber to drive through pipes

V8 supercars in Australia run 5 degree's of camber on the front,i think a lot of you would be suprised at how much camber most race cars run.
Although i definately think 10 degrees is overkill.

Yeah that reminds me of Winfield R32 GTR's driven by Mark Skaife in the 1990's, hell of a monster, and the front camber was extreme too, it might be more than 5 degrees :)

Looks like it worked great :D I want this in GT as premium :)

That's an Aussie touring car thing. Even the V8 Supercars of today have good amounts of camber in the front.

If the Winfield R32 was in GT5, Winfield would have to be removed/replaced, and the R32 Calsonic is pretty much the same car.

Extreme 'hellaflush' camber is pointless on race cars.

As the local Barryboys expert, I should interject.

"Flush" is when there is a combination of camber, drop and bodywork (usually arch rolling) that puts the tyre/wheel in close contact with the body and make it appear to be almost one object - they're flush to each other.
"Hellaflush" is pretty much the same thing, but you couldn't get a Rizla between them. Hellaflush often involves heavily stretched tyres too.
"Stanced" is just camber and drop.
"Hellastanced" is extreme camber and drop (and probably stretched tyres too).

And why hellastance cars in GT5? Because it's extremely funny. We had a LAN recently and Venari invented an event whereby everyone gets a road car from the year of their birth (or close enough) and tunes it to 200hp/tonne, then sets it up any other way they feel like.

So I hellastanced a Datsun 280Z. It did this every corner:

It was incredible fun. Slow like a zombie in tar, but fun.

Gotta remember, the front end of those are very heavy. The camber helps control the weight. Mind you, its not only an Aussie touring car thing..

Only cars I use big camber on are drift cars for the fortnightly trials.

For these events you generally need to use comfort softs on the rear and hards on the front to get the most points. With normal camber settings this just results in a car that understeers everywhere - not ideal for drifting. Sticking 10* camber on the rear reduces rear wheel traction and allows you to drift :)

If you watch replays of the best drift trials you'll see max rear camber on every car... some even use max on the front too, though I've never managed to make that work for me.

Anywhere else it just looks stupid and IME, you rarely need any more than c.2.5* front and c.2.0* rear.

V8s run -6º in front. I remember that from back in 2004. There was an interview with Brad Jones. I was watching the reruns on Speed Channel back then :) it always stuck with me.

As far as I know, BTCC ran -5º front, -4º rear. When BTCC ran a night race, one of the Honda engineers was describing the metal pieces specifically added to the undercarriage to create sparks. He was also describing why the cabin of the Accord had red interior lights. He then spoke about Camber and mentioned they normally run -5&-4 because of the high cornering speeds at Snetterton and Thruxton.
That was back in 2001?
