I'm pretty sure Aero gets disabled when you run the game automatically, but I'll get back to you on that a bit later.

I know that the dreamscene backgrounds pause when you go into full screen or have a window maximized. Although the screen shot had the solid task bar, In window mode, I remember the bar being transparent so I think just certain elements turn off while other's are still active (unless you're in full screen).

It's just right around the corner and last night I got my parts to build my dual 8800 GTX 768mb SLI machine. Got the Mobo installed, Hard Drive, Ram, when to install one of the GTX's.......AND THE CASE IS TOO SMALL!!!! The end of the graphics card hits the hard drive bay cage. :banghead:

So, looks like it gets released today and I won't be ready to play it.

Better late than never I guess......

You have a P180 right? Remove the cage and put the HDD in the bottom one.

That case is for my newly dedicated Home Theatre PC. This is a whole new system.

WHao what the heck how did I mis this game coming out. It was the primary reason I had a gaming PC built. I didnt know it was out already!! Can anyone download the demo? Or is it just certain people that got into a beta? I havent heard anyone talk about this at all.

I will have to download it when I get home. Heather cant get our gaming PC to show up on either one of our monitors. Not sure whats wrong but we had that problem before where it just didnt want to recognize any monitor. HOpefully I can get it working. The PC works excellent not sure why it wont show up on the monitor.
How long does the Crysis demo take to DL???
I have actually been thinking of selling my gaming rig since I never play it. We are always on the 360.

Well, if it's a year old, chances are you will have to dummy down the settings in the game to get the frame rates playable. It will be a killer game though....

Yeah the problem is I had it built in 4/3/06. Crysis kept getting bumped over and over again so now my PC is outdated.

The download will vary depending on how hard the server's getting hit. Took over 5 hours for me on the first day of availability on my 10mb DSL connection. Should be a lot better now as the demo's been out a while.

Your PC exceeds the minimum as Crytek showed some pretty modest minimums, but you would have to decide if the game is playable at the lower resolution and quality settings necessary for playable frame rates. :)

Heather just got the gaming computer hooked up finished downloading the Crysis demo. I guess it took less than 30 minutes. Thats with around 13mb download 800kb upload speed.
I will try it out tonight when I get home in about an hour and a half. Hopefully it works. Been looking forward to Crysis for at least 2 years.

I have to. The crossfire machine I built was for the original Farcry, stands to reason I needed a complete overhaul for the next in line from Crytek. :D Let me know how the demo goes..., and make sure you turn "blood" on in the settings before you start to play.

Thanks for the heads up about the blood. I just hope my PC runs the game at all. The last game I played on my PC in the highest settings was Far Cry (what a great game too) and that was back in 5/5/07. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=80113

I just read the whole GameSpot review, and they suggested that no computer currently on the market can play the game with max detail. It sounds like this game has better graphics than real life... I would so get this if I had a gaming PC.

 I think I have a computer that will run it. I just went to the shop to pick up my PC (long story) and the tech was on the bench playing the demo, frame rates looked great. Everything was turned up with a 1280x1024 resolution. The game is downloading again (different PC, had to redownload it) and will report my findings later tonight...complete with Pics of couse.

I will say I'm running a Dual core 3ghzx2, 1333 FSB with my PCI-e OC 350mhz to 2850 and Ram running at 1100mhz in a dual 8800GTX 1536mb SLI configuration. The CPU and GPU have not been OC other than the graphic cards factory over clock.

Hurry can someone tell me how to take screen shots of this game??? Is it F5, F2 what button to take quick screen shots? I am currently playing the demo 1280 x 960 but cant find a way to take screen shots besides the screen shot button!! I am just barely playing 1280 x 960. There is usually a folder with every game that will take screen shots into the folder.

Dang what an amazing game. Unfortunatly my computer just cant handle it. I did manage to take at least 1 pic but once the action started it just dropped the frame rate down to nothing. Shooting the trees at any place and having it break off was just incredible. It really does remind me a lot of Far Cry.

Congrats. 👍

Obviously Gamespot had not tried the game on an SLI rig...

When you say everything turned up to max, do you mean Ultra settings?

I don't think the wording is 'ultra', maybe 'Highest' if memory serves me correctly.

Upon getting the computer home and hooking it up to my monitor with a native resolution of 1920x1200, the game had a hard time. My results definitely differed from that in the back room of the tech's bench. He said he was running 1280x1024 which it looked like, but I was getting no where near his frame rates. With everything maxed out with no FSAA and at 1920x1200, I was averaging 20 FPS. With some tweaking I was able to get it running pretty well at 40 FPS by cutting down some of the less noticeable effects and lowering the resolution a bit. I also need to check into SLI to make sure it's utilizing it. He was playing the demo in the shop and I was playing the full release. Could be a difference in software. Until I find a SLI meter of sorts, I'm not sure how I can tell if it's being used or not. I also need to finish clocking the rest of the system. The game looks fantastic, took about 40 screen shots last night that I'll post up later today.

Sorry to hear that even after all the upgrades you couldnt play in 1920x1200. Yeah its absolutely crazy how much money someone will have to spend on a rig to get it good enough to run this game on the highest settings with everything maxed out. :dunce:
What button did you hit to take screen shots? I kept hitting "print screen" key then getting out and pasting into paintshop. There must be a folder somewhere that the files go into like every other game by hitting a specific button. I posted that 1 pic above. You can click the thumbnail to see it in 1280 x 1024.
The great news is that even on the lower settings the trees still break wherever you shoot them.

I hate those so much.

Absolutely wonderful game though. 👍

I've got some very screwy graphics settings on, ranging from some settings on Medium and some on Very High. All together I've got it playing smooth enough (still gets pretty choppy in BIG firefights) at 1920x1200. I want to get a new Intel based chipset and another 2900XT, since I already have one, and put them in Crossfire. That should smooth things out.

I'll check out those tweaks.

Oh man, I've been having a blast playing it for sure!

I've set everything on Very High, then scale back shadows, physics, shader, and water down to just High and I can hit around 25-35 FPS. Not as smooth as I want, but playable. Still waiting for the SLI patch to get released. The beta drivers helped about 10 FPS, need about another 25 FPS to really make the game what it should be. :)
