Good. A small step towards sensibility 👍

Brake upgrades would be nice too though, as well as different slots for saving our tuning set-ups.

Hopefully be able to save game during championship races. If i`ve only got time for a quick blast on GT5 i cant always do a full championship,as for endurance races..........!lol

I wonder how long before asymmetric tuning, detailed tire temperatures, tire pressure, advanced suspension set up and advanced telemetry (not the excuse that is the Data Logger) etc.

Including custom gear ratios in GT5 is not progress, merely fixing a regression occurred for unknown reasons.

Will anyone else admit they aren't confident in getting an advantage by tuning gear ratios?

I understand the final drive, but tuning individual gear ratios, I can say this update will introduce a potential rce advantage I will not be able to make use of.

I hope fine tuning the gear ratios doesnt give people a huge advantage.
I will admid it, I'm not so much of a tuner :)

but it is nice to fiddle with it just to get something your comfortable with.

I can't wait to tune individual gear ratios...this will further differentiate tuned vehicle personalities when looking at the same car. As for the people who don't want to spend time doing it...either look for the tuners to do it for you or suffer a disadvantage when you come across someone who has done the work.

I hope so... I've been waiting for a tranny adjust. option for some time now!

Call me immature, but that sounds hilarious. Kinda like how people react when I bring up tranny fluid at work.

I just wish the would give the option of changing the final drive ratio in the differential itself, without having to do a whole gearbox swap.
Would make it whole lot more realistic and would get rid of the god awful whine that comes with racing gearboxes!

that.

is a better idea than the pre-built close-ratio gearing you can buy in-game.

why?

because those pre-builts are always geared too short and you actually become SLOWER as a result.

although GT5 has made a decent step forward by making one into a 5-gear and the next one being a 6-gear upgrade.

heck, lets combine BOTH ideas.

5-gear with adjustable diff and 6-gear with adjustable diff.

now if only we could change the law so that companies could use user feedback more directly without the threat of getting sued. i mean, it's not like we patent any of the stuff we say out here.

i mean, if users never had good ideas, we wouldn't have mod communities now, would we?

This is great news. I knew the customizable ratios would come sooner or later.

Thank you Kaz and PD. :)

We want multiple setup profiles in order not to change gear ratios back and forth in each track. I need at least 3 profiles (like GT4)...

Yeah I agree, like I mentioned in my previous post.

GT5 is really only a few minor changes away from greatness.

The AI arent that bad they just need to have a bit more freedom and honestly need to be harder for most of the races

I agree. Tuning individual gear ratios should have been in the game in the first place, and the saved game glitch should have been fixed before the game was even released, so this isn't really any progress or anything, it's just fixing/adding what should have been fixed/added from the start. I guess it is progress technically, but the individual gear ratios was something that every console GT game always had, so this is more like them bringing the game up to par with their previous iterations(although, unless they add more a-spec raced and whatnot, it is still lagging behind a bit in my opinion)...

Anyway, I think I just might start all over in GT5 after this next update... just to breathe some fresh air into the game by using lesser powered cars for each a-spec and b-spec race, but with the transmission tuned perfectly.

"I would like to further customise the gear ratio setting"

Sorry that to me doesn't mean that were definately getting it patched in the next update.
Who knows, maybe I'm wrong.

History tells me to be cautious regarding any info from them.

Like redoing all the AI...

Yeah.

Improve the AI. Add [a lot] more races. That would be all the game would need.

There are plenty of other things we'd all love, but those two changes alone would revolutionize Gran Turismo 5.

Great post 👍
Hope there will be "SAVED" function during long endurance races
I hope too

Or... (and I know it wouldn't happen but) just remove the 24hr races, as well as the 9hr of Tsukuba. They are totally unnecessary; 4hrs of racing is more than enough imo.

GT5 is still in development? I wonder why this was not in already?

But one of the best news. I think this will be a huge update.

Hmm if it is a huge update, then it'll be the first one...the previous updates didn't affect me, but then I guess I don't play online (yet)

Perhaps we will see brake upgrades too, that would be nice.

Finally, I shall be able to make the gears on my F10 and F2007 realistic (closer to Prologue).

This should've been in the game from day one, but glad it's coming anyway:)

[...]Perhaps we will see brake upgrades too, that would be nice.
For that, they will have to include proper brake modeling/simulation first, meaning: brake failures, brake fade, realistic ABS behavior (and different between cars of different era), realistic default brake bias, rotor inertia, different feeling between different braking systems, etc (sigh... there are so many nuances that I doubt PD will ever bother to implement them. That's the difference between simulators and semi-simulators providing as a whole a more or less good approximation of real life driving physics and dynamics, like GT5 or FM3).

Brake upgrades have been removed in GT5 most probably because essentially in previous games they had no effect on driving dynamics.

Kaz just confirmed on twitter that the next update will have more adjustable gear ratios. As well as this there will also be a fix for save game being over the memory limit problem.

I hope we get custom gear ratios aswell as top speed (which is all I use), we got both in GT4 but only custom ratios in GT5 Prologue. Mind you, with PD's black & white/either or mentality it remains to be seen.

:nervous:

So this thread is about the update including custom gear ratios.

Its not about what you want in the update.
