Custom gear ratios in next update

now if only we could change the law so that companies could use user feedback more directly without the threat of getting sued. i mean, it's not like we patent any of the stuff we say out here.

1) No-one can patent something they've merely said, at most they can copyright the specific phrasing if, and only if, it's sufficiently unique (e.g. I couldn't copyright the phrase "Hello.")

2) A mere general idea (user-adjustable gear ratios) can't be copyrighted. Now, if people were posting specific programming algorithms to achieve the general idea, those specific algorithms could be copyrighted. However, no law would stop PD from coming up with their own unique algorithm to achieve the same general idea.

The idea that a generic end result can be patented or copyrighted is one of the most persistent legal urban legends, but it's just not at all true. Unfortunately, the myth tends to perpetuate itself because people who believe in it file frivolous lawsuits which get publicity when their filed, but no publicity when those same suits are dismissed for failure to state a claim.

"I would like to further customise the gear ratio setting"

Sorry that to me doesn't mean that were definately getting it patched in the next update.
Who knows, maybe I'm wrong.

History tells me to be cautious regarding any info from them.

That's what the fan said, Kaz said that it WILL be in the next update

Im actually so excited about this I have just spent 6 or so hours making a working Calculator so i can beat the 'less experienced' online with precisely tuned underdogs. :dopey:👍

Ahh you guys may be getting ahead of yourself? he says yes it will be in the next update.. but the question was ''you will improve in the next update I would like to further customize the gear ratio setting''.. god knows what he might mean by it though? it could be some rediculous system...

I don't think so, I think the greyed out numbers in the fully customisable transmission show that it will be just like in GT4 and 2 (I havent played 3 and 1) but with a nice box showing the top speed the gearbox can give you, one thing I thought they should have in the other games so im quite happy, and hopefully the current system will also be kept for the less experienced to play about with, of course anything can happen so I could be wrong but I doubt that.

I too hope the gears are adjustable such as in GT4.
I hope the top speed slider does not jack with the individually tuned gears and acts as a rear differential gear ratio.
💡

Or... (and I know it wouldn't happen but) just remove the 24hr races, as well as the 9hr of Tsukuba. They are totally unnecessary; 4hrs of racing is more than enough imo.

If you don't like the long races don't run them, no need to remove them from the game.

i have been waitin for this custom gears since the game came out now suspention, lsd and tranny can be tuned to perfection for indivaul tracks to perfectiong and i dont know about u guys but i just did a endurance race yesterday 9 hours of tsukuba, my legs and arms where beat its a work it bro and gives u a real good fealing what it takes to do some enduros i realy like dem cant wait to start 24 one

Ummmm... what?

Sounds great! But with custom gear ratio the need to save car setups becomes even bigger. I hope they include that option as well. Otherwise it will suck, writing down the ratios for each track, then when switching track, take your blocknote and put in the new values....aaarhhh! ;)

Lets hope there will be a "set to default values" button, as there is a big chance of messing up your transmission pretty badly if you don't know what you're doing.

WHen is the update coming out?

Sorry to ask in here but, what is included in the upcoming update? Does PD ever announce the change list?
