Ran long on RH again. I don't lose anytime to players on RMs and when I put on the RMs, I have so much more confidence to brake deeper and corner faster. Plus, no quick drop off like the RMs before pit stop. Plenty of tyre life to defend and attack, at the end of the race.

Do I try a no stopper, on hards tonight?

Is it worth it over a one stop on mediums? Race laps on mediums tend to be in the mid to low 33's for me.

Personally I don't think the drop off is too bad with the mediums, the race would be better with less wear but it's not a major problem, it's less than 2 seconds slower on lap 6 compared to the start, only that seventh lap is a problem. Of course I'm not a pad user and I can appreciate that there are problems there with this.

Also the people I've seen struggling the most late in stints are all in the Honda, so it's possible that whilst it's quicker over a lap it's not the greatest race car due to the wear, if it indeed does struggle more with this and it's not just the drivers fault or that they all happen to be pad uses.

How much slower is the Hard tyre over a lap? If it's approaching two seconds I just can't see it being a viable option unless you are starting at or very near the back.

It worked for me towards the back, further forward and you risk getting swamped by mediums and contact.

It would be fun if you had to start on the tyre you qualified on.

Hows this for a joke of a penalty?
It honestly just looked like a racing incident. You were turning inward earlier than needed and you chopped his exit line. He probably would have knocked you off of the course if you would have stayed at the edge but we'll never really know.

It just looked like he was on the marbles, was gathering up the car and the other 4C rammed him, went off, hit the wall back on track and bumped him off into the wall. He didn't turn in early.

After being punted in turn 1 i attempt a recovery and get a good look at whats it like to be at the back of the pack at Autopolis.

This is why I'm totally bypassing both A and B events this week and racing in lobby races or PC2 on my Xbox. The racing has been complete rubbish with people driving like morons. I don't mind wheel to wheel racing but this is like Cole Trickle and Rusty from Days of Thunder racing. Being side swiped and receiving an SR down is ridiculous.

So far only two races this morning, and i would rather not talk about them tbh. First race was pushed into the dirt for a pass by a guy i know is 75% dirty, second was hit from behind and thrown into oblivion in t1 lap4 cuse the guy behind, who is generally clean, completely missed his brake point in my draft. Hope the two or three more i get before work are better than this....

Race ‘c’ for me this week.

I don’t have a good qualifying pace at 1:32.6 so starting near the back each time in BS

I have been doing a no stop on hard tyres, Each race I am between 6-8 places up at the finish.

Made a concentration mistake on my last race last lap so lost 6th which I had a 4 second lead on. Forget his name but he passed me very well and clean despite me sliding around

Edit: fastest race lap = 1:34

what region are you in?

I'll try it tonight, and report my findings.

My qualifying lap usually puts me in top six on the grid. But, I was having good runs from the back until yesterday. I figure if I get swamped in the first lap or two, I'll be able to make up places later in the race, and during everyone else's pit stops.

In theory, at least. I got bumped back down to SR:A last night. So, it's the ideal time to test it. I can't see it working as well against S rated drivers.

That's exactly why I'm out this week. You were off the racing line and the car that was on the racing line made a mistake and hit you and went off track. I could maybe see the system thinking that you turned into the car (I know you didn't) but the second impact was deliberate and BS that you got a 5 sec penalty and SR down while the opposing car got nothing. That's like being tripped in hockey and receiving a penalty. :banghead:

So I have a very simple question today before I start getting frustrated and ruining my weekend after work.

For Race A is there any point in using anything other than the R34 Skyline?

I spent Tuesday evening trying to win with the 22B (Scooby) and I did it but I ended up killing all my DR and some SR in the process,
it was a fun challenge and I want to try it with the other N300 cars but it seems the Skyline is really OP in this race and it will be
hard pressure in the other cars.

I of course "accept ze challenge" as Inspector Clouseau once said but I'm not gonna do it if I'm gonna waste my whole weekend.

Next week is good though though I think Race A will be a "fit" of laughs

I've seen a video by Zocker1990 where he started last with mediums and took 2nd place with the no stopper.
Insanely smooth and consistent. After 11 laps the tire wear was 1/2 at a maximum (front left).
My tires look like this after 7 laps.
He then still clocked low 1:34.xxx for the last three laps.

Ah, here it is

I used the 22B and Evo last night and had the same result as you. I did overtake a bunch of people from 11th to 5th and it turns out that people don't like to be overtaken hence the side swiping and punting in the braking zones. I like a challenge but not at the expense of my SR and DR.

I think you mean R32 instead of R34. But yeah, there's no point using anything else unless you want to challenge yourself. They just work in this combo, with Sports Hard being the only tire availabe they really shine grip-wise, and their gearing works better in Suzuka than the other 4wd options.

Thanks for reply, glad I was not the only one who found this hard going!

Thanks! Yeah I figured it was a gear "thing" with the R32 on the sports tyres, I guess I will just go with trying it with the Bayside Blue Skyline
colour and be satisfied with that, was really hoping I could pull a win with the Supra etc but I guess that's gonna be some real hard work.

I got a few top 5 and podium finishes this week with the Supra on Race A.

It's slower on the final straight so you need to stay close but can make up some time against the Skylines in the turns after T1.

+ Race this morning. Punted. If you do go offtrack it's impossible to catch up with a slower car. So don't get punted.

I really wanted to run a different car each day, cuse i love them all, but can't seem to get under a low 59. with any of them

The penalty is for the first contact, since he took a shortcut right after. It was more of a racing incident than deserved. You took the corner a bit weird not ending up at the kerb at corner exit like the car that hit you was aiming for.

Had you stayed more to the left, it looks like he could have still left you a car width.

However then he loses control on the grass and rams you off. The game sees it all as one incident in which there was contact and he went off first. Thus you got the penalty.

It's a grey area. You were slow in that corner, instead of hitting the apex, your hit the outpex (just made that up) allowing him to come alongside. A simple racing incident for sure, yet the penalty system doesn't care about anything but contact followed by who goes off first :(

Race C, man, i am not talented here. Went for the medium one stop with the NSX. My qualifying lap left a lot to be desired, much squiggling out of the exits. Tire wear did not help. I qualified 14th and finished 12th, purely due to the mistakes of others. I probably only had control of the car for 3 laps total, absolutely do not understand how to drive these super GT cars with anything resembling smoothness.

Too little time left to set a lap for race B, so I hopped in the 86 hoping to maybe grab a couple of places off the backmarkers. Had a terrific drive and finished 7th, the 86 is very rapid through most of the middle of the circuit. Certainly slept on as an option. A couple of powerslides here and there on the hard tire, but they were deliberate to please the crowd. Honest.

any tips for a d rank pad driver for cornering in those gr2 machines? I feel like theres more progression to be had if i can get good results in C.

I finally had some time for another race last night, chose race C again and didn't have as much luck as I did in my only other race Monday. I didn't try to get a better qualifying time so I stuck with what I got on Monday, 1.31.503... that was good enough for poll on Monday and only got me 6th last night. It was a pretty clean race throughout and everyone around me had good pace and stayed off of each other. Unfortunately I didn't have great pace and my pit strategy sucked and ended up 11th... didn't help the DR but I still have SR 99 so that's good I guess.

Not sure what has happened but I was racing fine with any and all cars without TCS but all of a sudden I am really having issues and have gone back to using TCS 2 on most tracks...

i feel like I was driving gr2 without TCS just fine at one point, but cant get the nsx round fuji without it on 1. Classic lead right foot. Fuji has a lot of little divets on the way through some of those tighter corners, good for a few spins. Clean laps seem unattainable. Refuse to turn countersteer assist on.

I've never used the countersteer assist. The only thing I've ever used is ABS and TCS, was told to turn everything else off when I first started so forgot about it.
