I watched Orma_snows FIA stream last night and some of the driving/racing in that lobby was a joke.

His Nations race was ridiculous, problem is Snow has very good racecraft and can pass at will against drivers who qualify mid pack in DR S/A lobbies, but he also trusts the drivers around him too much when he's racing mid pack. I particularly loved the driver who swerved in front of him on the back straight to avoid being passed by the much faster car.

I wish people would treat their sim cars like real cars sometimes.

I bet that such thing would happen if Real Damage on every Sport Race was implemented. and. the Damages would remain after the race... And to repair those damages, there would be the need to such repair being paid, with a corresponding value to the true amount of damages... like a car with 30% damage, to be "rescued" back to original, the price for the owner to pay would be at least 30% of the original value.. plus a fixed amount.. (that is only an example! :).

Of course that this only would be acceptable if in case of any damage inflicted to other cars, (the system needed to keep track of all damages inflicted to others, by fault from the driver), the cost from repairing the cars from other drivers to whom the driver was considered guilty of inflicting damage, would be automatically deducted to his accounts... and those other drivers would not have to pay a cent for getting their cars repaired...

If such system could ever be put to work.. I bet that the driving attitude would change immediately, from night to day...

Just consider the cost to pay for repairing a 20 million damaged car... such value deducted could bring to huge negative values for the racer.. and that would mean that he would need to race for a long time, with the other not damage cars until he could turn pay what he was "owing" to the "system" ... to be able to buy or repair his own cars...

I know this is UTOPIC.. to say the least... but some times Utopic ideas help to indulge into actions that may improve our .. reality.. just a little bit more...

brands is pretty good, the Toyota has been my car of choice today. 1:24.4 is my quickest so far which seems to be ok for qualifying.

@Sven Jurgens business as usual, you are next to them to the apex, they steer into you, bump themselves off track and then either shunt you of upon re-entering or when they somehow catched up again

Yep it happens all the time, especially on the last turn at Monza, except there they can't crash you off after. It's most annoying at T1, you're half a car length in front yet they still steer into you at the first apex, then take a free shortcut while giving you the time penalty.

You sure did leave enough space for him on the outside. One thing you could have done is predicted his swerving back onto the track and braked to avoid it, but that isn't really always an easy thing to do in the heat of the moment.

That would have resulted in a punt from the car behind me. It was the first lap, still crowded. It was also hard to see where he was going in bumper cam, I might have been able to avoid him in VR. Weird that he decided to swerve back like that instead of going straight to rejoin the track.

It doesn't really matter in a 9 lap race anyway. Too long for people to drive like that to hold on, you always pass them later. It's just the frustration of SR loss and an undeserved time penalty.

Had some great races at Brands in the Gr.3s today, pretty sure I bumped into a few fellow GTP'ers; @Cuber Tom for sure.
I think I'll hit DR:S today, so I can kiss goodbye to any more race wins :D

I saw you had a solid race. You finished p4 from 11th on the grid.

Going from a high A DR to S DR won't effect you win percentage much as you'll still probably be it the top split either way, as all DR S races are very rare

That would be good BUT the game currently struggles to deem who is responsible at the minute anyway what happens if someone rams you but the game thinks it’s your fault and charges you for the damage, there would have to be a hotline for disputes

I was so shocked at what was going on around him. A supposed top lobby and only the top 3-5 knew how to race.

These people should not be in SR:S or even A driving like that. It's a trend that is on the up in my experience unfortunately.

Yes it is, people have learned how to game the SR system - I've had races where a driver behind me desperately wants to get through and he'll shove/bump me around for a full lap before finally getting past. Then the race will end and he'll have a blue SR despite the dirty driving.

Especially with the FIA races getting longer and longer now, more time to drive alone and build up positive SR so you can "use" it as a weapon for when you need that last lap desperate overtake.

It can be done!!!

A miracle happened! That was 1 out of 12 races.

Monza got uglier towards the end of the night instead of getting better like it usually does. The second chicane was usually as messy as the first, then on lap 2 crashing into t1 again until the field was sufficiently fragmented. I managed to get back to 97 SR with a clean race bonus after I got punted down enough 3 races in a row to get matched with B/S to D/S instead of the aggressive A/S crowd.

Getting through the first and second chicane and two right handers unscathed was still not enough. What could I have done to prevent this?

I'm on the inside, alongside, I have the right to the apex / right of way, I leave plenty of room, only 2 wheels on the actual track, end in last anyway.

Secondary viewpoint.

Oh well, I always made it back to finish well before my starting position thanks to the 9 lap race. The only big loss was getting disconnected during the finish countdown after finishing... Still counted as DNF.

Ascari is not an overtaking sequence of corners. It just isn't.

Crap. I did the shortcut just to see how it would compare to the folks I've been placed against. It was with a really sloppy lap too, so I didn't think much of it. I had no idea it would shove me into 2nd on the leaderboard. I feel bad now. Not gonna enter the race.

I disagree so much with people who say that D/S people are safe to race against. They brake unpredictably early. Braking points twice as large as they should be. Their driving is sporadic and impossible to predict. They are only at S because of farming. Any decent driver should be at least C. Any driver who can stay on track most of the time and understand a racing line will be at least a C.

Even when taking what I would regard as extra caution when closing in on a D/S driver, they still end up braking half-way down a straight and then get angry when I have nowhere to go. These sort of drivers would be black flagged while karting easily.

Ascari is not an overtaking sequence of corners. It just isn't.

The whole of Monza is very difficult to overtake on any of the corners.

Ascari is one of the riskiest ones though, as generally for 2 people to go through there together requires a large reduction in speed than anyone running close behind you 2 will just pass you before the last corner with the better exit speed.

Only other place to pass other than the straightaways is maybe on Roggia, but usually what happens is the outside driver turns in on you early, and bumps himself off track so he can cut the chicane penalty free and he ends up ahead.

Brands has been a wreckfest earlier, some guy divebombed me, I got the slower exit, he blocks me off into the grass and shunts of every other driver that tries to overtake him. Since he asked for a clean race in the pre-race chat I decided to let karma be fair and sent him into the wall on the second-to-last corner

Had some more clean battles, but also lots of carnage around me :(
Yeah there’s a dude in the Americas who does exactly the same. He begs the lobby to drive carefully and respectfully but then he himself is one of the dirtiest drivers I’ve ever come across. I think he was born in 1976 so he’s not a young punk either!

Hey the race is 14 laps on Brands? Awesome, I hope they keep making them longer!

14-lap races were great today. I got a bit p***ed off for once though and barged past a couple of people. I just can't stand when a guy in 6th place decides to dedicate his every corner to defending his position from the train behind, only lap bloody five. So I *squeezed* (divebombed) my way past and finished third, starting from 13th. I feel like I acted hypocritically, but at the same time I have zero sympathy for people who behave with no respect or empathy, so I raced happily on.

Although my opinion has always been against damage, due to current racing standards dropping in higher ranks, I think in SR:S your idea would have mileage (pun intended) if the sport mode races had higher payout, BUT the penalty system would need tweaking to better determine "fault" but even then it will never be 100% correct. So what happens on a 50/50 collision and both parties feel they were in the right? (as is usually the case). I'm only playing devils advocate here.

We need to take this to a relevant thread lol.

What?
Defensive driving is a thing, I don't care when somebody decides to drive defensively - if he wants to defend his position on lap 5 of 14, that is his choice.
Dive bombing him because you can't pass him normally is ridiculous. Especially on a track like Brands Hatch GP where qualification is so important because it's so hard to pass on that track.
Sounds like you spent no time qualifying and then feel entitled to a higher finish because all of these "slow" people are in your way.

This merely an idea/suggestion for a possible way to correct driving behavior .. and trying to put it ore according to reality.. where any accident is payed really heavy.. an d not merely with loss of time or raking points... and I truly believe that in a not so... harsh way. this may be an hint to the "way" :) and some discussion would be nice... I guess.. may some light would come out of it.. to the darkened souls that live behind GTS rulers...

I totally agree with you! :(

First time racing Brands hatch in longer races.

Didnt know the pit entry :p Potential 2nd to 10th. Aaaaahhhhhhhh.

Excellent and thrilling 14 lap races. Two races of 5 S S and rest A S drives were excellent stuff.

Damm S S guys are fast like real fast. A S requires a different skill.

I think I raced against you, sadly your internet connection was really poor. I remember you ran wide at Turn 1, but I was hit from someone behind me and then that forced me into you

Absolute Scandal!!!!

That´s the title for the times achieved and the way they were achieved for the top best classificationn times for Daily Race A!

Best 25 times are currently here:

http://www.jasonguernsey.net/gts/Races (from: 1:09.039 until 1:14.195) and most probably all of them were attained with the help of a huge bug, short cutting like several curves and a lot of seconds... near the last quarter of the race... when they reach that point of short-cutting.. the best time is around 1:04.. and i´m sure that if they would take the correct way (not cheating) the finall time would raise close to 1:20.. or just a little (very little) bit less,,, bu no...

The incredible is that this situation is absolutely evident!! Just see the videos from the top 10 racers... all of them do same thing... And furthermore this was relatad like.. at least more then 7hours ago... and nothing was done about it!!! Astonishing!!!!

I think you jinxed me, first race as an S DR in the Nations cup was almost all DR:S xD featuring v-Christian, Dayrone, the Oscaros, et al - I forgot to save the replay too which is frustrating, and the share only captured lap 8 on wards which is a real shame as I was hoping to commentate what was a very enjoyable race - next time :)

Can anyone recommend a good way to capture 1080 from the PS4? Am I looking at an Elgato?

the only upside i found from being demoted to SR B or A is that you can rack up some easy wins while getting back up^^

What on earth is wrong with Daily Race A today at Willow Springs? Everyone in the top 10 is cutting half the track, to get lap times that are probably 15 seconds faster than a normal lap. C'm PD this is ridiculous.

I agree that defensive driving is fine, as long as it's done properly. Taking the inside line is generally what drivers do to defend and it will cost them speed on exit, so with good timing, taking a wide line and focusing on exit speed is one way to overcome it.

I've also seen very bad defensive driving that includes blocking/swerving on straights, taking the inside line to push people off the outside line, etc. Although I do my best to drive clean, I will be much more aggressive and I wouldn't blame others for taking bigger risks against drivers like that.
