My evening. I got another player to give me a tow, so that the player he was racing, couldn't get the slipstream. A lil "Shake n' Bake".

I know n these last pages there's been a complaining of puntfest town at sarthe, but my experience on it has been super enjoyable and clean apart from a over defending guy.
Granted, I normalle start at the top 5, in the morning, and top 10 in the afternoon. but driving at 90/85% of pace until the straight on lap 1 normally leads to a very clean race.

Ugh Ontario thought it was a good idea to wake everyone up at 4:30 am with an Amber Alert. Damn cell phones. Then it repeated again at 5:45 am. I guess they like a lot of tired people in the morning commute. You can't turn them off here, useless. The phone knows it is at home and hasn't moved in hours. Not that hard to figure out that perhaps the owners are asleep and have not seen a kid in a bus traveling down the highway 500 kilometers away. Technology and people, bad mix.

Amber whatnow? Oddly reminiscent of TV wakeup sequence from Orwell's 1984. Time to think about overthrowing your government.

Backpack or midpack becomes chaotic and the rolling start placement is to blame.
1st place has a big advantage on start followed by 2nd that starts right out of chicane. 3rd place starts in the middle of it and so on.
Add disparity of top speed cars and some F1 cars from behind and it can be insane ha.

Had not a very good first day at Le mans, they may be to qualify good and run away in the beginning.
BOP is not very deficient on this one, tried with the 458 Italia and got murdered by that Mclaren 1995.
Very likelly this mclaren will become the meta car.
The forg gt is a nice car to drive.
F 1 is the meta for sure but it has real ****** brakes for the class. I took a half lap run with the Ford GT. It's supercharger doesn't agree with my heavy throttle finger. I popped so many slides I just gave up on the thing. Love supercharged engines but they don't suit me for racing. Always NA if I can, haven't settled on a car for race B yet.

Both Mercs are quite stable, same for the Peugeot(I caught some F1’s on the straights in this car), the BmX M3 is a really nice ride as well. :)

i refuse to drive the Peugeot - no cockpit view and i've been gifted it too many times. I shall try the German cars at some point today.

The only Peugeot i will drive is the mid engine, 4wd 205 GTI t16, which is sadly missing from the game, despite quattro sport being there. Also no Group B delta, 037, Renault 5 turbo, Ford Escort mk2, rs1800, etc etc... But that's why i still boot up dirt 4 occasionally.

Ah ok, I run bumper cam so every car is the same other than the sound.
It could be a Chrysler Reliant K behind the camera for all I know/care! :D

First try in the F-Type

Not sure why I got the clean race bonus. I had to take evasive actions in the first chicane and cut the thing short on the inside. I went slow so didn't get a penalty, but it was still outside track limits? I guess it compensates for the times you don't get the clean race bonus while staying on the track all race. Nice car.

It would be nice if we could choose what car sound we want, like I use the hood cam, but the sound I think its the best is the cockpit one, so it would be nice to hear cockpit sound in my hood cam :)

I decided to qualify for la Sarthe in the McLaren F1 since given how it's only 2 laps, it's not one for racing at the back IMO. I've only ever driven this car once before at Bathurst. BB set to +2.

I ended with a 3:59.9 after several laps but I was being overly cautious of track penalties. One track penalty and my whole lap is 🤬 so better to be safe than having to redo it all again.

I checked alien times after and compared to them, my time looks babby-tier so I'll probably aim to improve it in the coming days. I would guess they're really stretching track limits to the maximum to hit 53s. Honestly doubt I'll even come close to that.

All I would say in respect to alt-accounts is, if you're gonna drop down to our level, don't complain about being dumped off of the planet by a dodgy overtake... We established last week that some of us... ahem... just aren't that good :scared: If I bump you, I will always apologise. If my pass isn't legit, educate me. Just don't moan about it! </moan:lol:>

Ok, back to Le Mans. The rolling start auto launch iiiis horrible for P3-5 through the last of the Ford Chicanes. If you qualy P1-2 and are driving the F1 you can really only have yourself to blame for not finishing P1-2.

It could do with being 4 laps. Or a 6 lap Race C with decent tire and fuel settings so that you could really play with a non stop or 1 stop stratergy. Other than messing up a breaking zone it's not that technical a track so it really should lend itself to a clean but strategic race.

@Sven Jurgens I know I've said it before but clean race bonus thing is definitely broken. The other week I got it in that video where me and the guy in front both got a 1 second corner cut penalty. You can also get it when you've knocked cars about (or they have knocked you about) and yet you can run clean from pole staying on track with no penalties and nothing.
I've no idea how you managed your massive streak without it going wrong never mind whilst keeping it clean.

Also finally got a respectable Q time at Autopolis, 1:25.2 is better than mid to late 1:26s which is where I was stuck for a long while, still over 1.3 seconds behind 1st though. This is the first time I've properly ran here and boy is it a tough track and not very pleasant either. Maybe the first sector is ok but everywhere else I'm not fond of. :indiff:

I just shuddered so hard I thought a suspension linkage had broken somewhere.

@Pigems All the assists are available again this week, for some reason, in all of the dailies. :(:(:(

I’m all for assists being available to the people that need/want them, it helps them enjoy the game more and that’s a great thing. But the assists should never be good enough to make top times faster, it ruins the whole spirit of the Time Trial. I won’t be wasting any more time on the B time trial now.

The worst part is that they'll use amber alerts on custody related kidnappings where they know the dad isn't trying to kill the kids. I understand how horrifying it would be if my wife just ran away with my children but it's not that same level of "first 48 hours" intensity of a random stranger taking your kid. Flooding the service with borderline use cases just grows apathy over the service. I think the last one here was a 17 year old girl who disappeared with her 19 year old boyfriend. I mean c'mon, they'll just come back when they run out of money.

I didn't have much time to race but I was able to get a 1st place win on Race A. I got third on the poll just from watching the top time and doing a few laps, which surprised me even for DR B. The biggest takeaway though was that I guess I run a non typical line through the McLaren and Clearways since I was catching everyone there. I tackle the complex more like the uphill Budweiser Balcony corner on Big Willow where you straight line brake last minute and then punch flat out towards the apex. Everyone else was doing a sweeping braking line and feathering the throttle back to the apex with which I think bogged them down if they were changing gears.

It's fun to be in SR A again where there's now a 50/50 chance that the inside car won't run me off.

CSA is wrong! It's like a painter having paintbrush assist! Countersteer is a huge part of the finesse and technique of Maximum Attack and I therefore take this as an insult to my religion.

When does the CSA kick in though. That's the question. Mine is on as default (obviously!) as I'm assuming it helps. But call me an amateur - I couldn't necessarily tell you that I've ever recognised it doing anything. For instance, when it was off, it didn't really affect me and my lack of ability.

So whilst that chap might have it 'on'. It might not actually be doing anything.

If I can get anywhere near a 4.05/6/7/8 then I'll be happy. If I can't then I'll just enjoy the scenery.

Considering that GT sport doesn't represent the ultimate sim, I think having CSA around is appropriate - especially for us pad users. Counter-steering with the pad is suboptimal.

It's definitely doing something. Without CSA my steering movement is twitchy due to the thumbstick like it was in GT6. It's easy to work around, I just make sure I balance the car before the turn in point and not try to finesse the angle at the last second. With the CSA on, I can enter a turn with the car out of balance and I'll just lose some speed as the system softens my input to balance the car. With CSA off, you can occasionally get into a weight juggling fight with the car where it keeps snapping and throwing weight left and right in the middle of a turn.

Yes, I run it as well. The problem is that you cannot be precise enough for corrections compared to the wheel.
That's more of a fact of life that we sensible souls without hundreds of disposable pounds to spend on a couple of seconds per track, just have to live with.

Done my fair deal of sliding around Suzuka, etc. CSA makes a serious difference in how direct the response is compared to input. CSA allows huge errors in either direction, under or over correcting, and seems to spit out uber quick corrections, compared to an assist like TCS, which definitely makes control easier, but definitely sacrifices exit speed compared to those who can keep the tail in check, makes an argument for this assist being more of an exploit.

CSA can (and sometimes is) also be exploited by those annoying drivers who like to throw it down the inside using the grass as they won't lose control with it on, also if someone with it on starts pushing other cars about there is a good chance the CSA user will end up better off as they are far less likely to lose control.

Basically CSA in race is a bigger advantage than it is in Q. Even ASM can improve lap times in FF cars so I'm not sure why both are suddenly allowed again when the FIA events ban them.

I wish they would just allow or ban them in both modes, this inconsistency annoys me more than anything.
