Is it me or is the la Sarthe penalty zone after Corvette Curves in a ridiculous area?

I hit someone off by accident (I thought I'd go through them) right as they unghosted before Ford Chicanes and got handed a 3 second penalty. There's a clear difference in speed since people burning a penalty will have a slower entrance speed compared to those who don't. It would make more sense to have it located between Arnage and Porsche Curves.

On a more positive note, I'm enjoying this combo a lot more than on the first day.

Hey @Pigems thanks for the great lap vid. I managed to lop a second off my time! Into the 1:00s now and able to put in 1:01s on the reg which is huge for me.

The no brake in turn 3 made all the difference. Hard to nail but practicing it makes it super easy when I have to tap the brakes now. I noticed you doing some fancy footwork with left foot braking which is closed off to me and my two sticks.

Surprised that everyone isn’t using the two-up-one-down shifting trick at the start. It makes for rocket getaways and now I’m having to manage finding myself amongst a surprised top three when I enter turn one. Good for 1-3 spot pickup at the start amongst the unsuspecting...

Not a great race this morning. First non clean race this week.

Race A. QT 59.489 got me 3rd spot. P1 & P2 started going at it immediately and it turned into free-for-all. Cars in front slowing down, cars behind catching up. By L2 it was everyone trying to pass everywhere, sliding out of control, one big mess. I manage to finish 3rd but lost 4 SR just trying to keep the car straight. Ugly race. I hope it was just a one off.

Agreed. Most people are serving 1 to 3 second penalties there which lines them up to unghost right before the next turn in point. They're essentially blocking the corner entry forcing you to gamble and drive through them or to move a car width inside, unfairly ruining your own racing line.

Considering the amount of straights at Le Sarthe you'd think they'd be spoiled for choice for the penalty zone location. That last one is indeed in a very odd place. Literally right before a braking zone and ensuring anyone unghosting is on top of a corner entry. It does make for some interesting situations through there!

Had 5 races today. Always started on P1 or P2, so I won 2 races and 2 races on P2. Just only one wreckfest, with every car behind me having a penalty. Was funny to overtake all of them

I can’t believe I just did this, but I somehow managed to score a 25.9 in the SF around Autopolis. :D

I used TCS 2 and BB +1, I’m never gonna be able to beat that one, ever.

Nice lap! Have you tried BB on +5? I normally don't move it that far to the rear on other cars, but I saw some aliens doing it so I tried it and it felt great. Also helps save the front tires. Basically in any race with tire wear I always try to move BB as far to the rear as possible to save the tires and give me better turn-in under braking. If the rear steps out too much when braking I move it one tick toward the front and try again.

Thanks man, Great Lap to you as well!

I think I went as far as +3 but that was it, I’ll give that a shot. Thanks very much for the info, I’m gonna have another go at it after dinner tonight. You gonna be doing any racing tonight? :)

Starting P3 is awful on race B

I agree. Coming out of the Ford chicane for makes for a very calculated launch. I started 3rd twice and both times lost .5 sec on start. Gentle does it...

Here's a video of some paint sharing- I didn't get dinged and felt like it wasn't my fault, but was there a good way around this guy? My instinct was to pass on the outside, but the inside seems like a better choice. Regardless, I didn't have much time to choose.

Got some DR on the first race, and lost it on the second. That's been par for me lately. I think I'm going to switch up cars; maybe the 'Vette or Aston? I like using cars you see at the 24h.

I had a test lobby open last night, a buddy jumped in and when I tried to tell him that tire wear was on X3 the PS4/GTS censored it to “ tire wear is on ** ” on me. Any idea why X3 get censored?
Fear not. I've seen countless examples of ways to get around the cursing filter in the pre and post race chats. Some really venomous stuff.

This happened to me as well last night- "unghosted" literally inside me.

I’m enjoying unlocking the Porsche too! For some reason I like the cars that require minimal steering and brake input. Turn one feels like using the brake pedal to aim for the apex...

I thought that yesterday with my 25.2 after multiple 25.5/6 laps and yet now I have a 1:25.0 and it wasn't even a great lap, I was slightly down in both the 1st and 2nd sector and I almost messed the last corner up enough to invalidate the lap. Still not sure I'll beat it but who knows, that last sector especially is long and tricky to get each corner right which in turn helps in the next corner so it's probably always possible to go faster there.

I used +2 BB, might have a proper go with more rear though as I did that at Suzuka for a while until I went to +2 to be a little more consistent but +5 was probably faster there, especially in the race.

at breaking sone you still way to far to overtake to pass someone you have to be door to door with im at the breaking zone starting from .200 is a divebomb .

I see- that makes sense. So if I had drafted him and been able to initiate the pass before the chicane then it could have been possible.

The penalty zone before the last chicanes is dangerous and pretty much useless for the short penalties. I usually get a 0.5 sec for leaving the track, and when i had to serve it (kept left) i just popout of ghosting shortly before the turn in..

Its a button you have to map that let's you get a power boost. It does this by allowing the engine to have more fuel in the mix. Its called the overtake button since its to help with passes and make the racing more exciting. You get a set amount of overtake boost for the whole race with a meter in the bottom right. It isnt available in practice/qualifying.
So when you use it do you spend more fuel?

great lap! about 1 1/2 seconds faster than I've ever gone. Is it weird that the one thing I noticed is that you took turn -4 too wide(the second of the double uphill rights)and probably lost a tenth or two on the drive out because of it? Having no time for laps is killing me. I usually start getting comfortable on a track Sunday night because that's when I get a couple of hours to race. Last week I didn't even get to "optimize" my Q times because I wanted to get some races in. Also, I've been running mostly just the C race because I need to get up to speed on at least one combo.

Did a couple C's the other day. Did respectable,
first one started in maybe 5th and got bashed around, made some genuine mistakes and was relegated down to 12th. Made some spots back and might have gotten to 9th. Im B right now(usually A) but I found the B's, C's and even D's especially hard to pass and stay past.
Next race was much better, made much fewer mistakes and got to 2nd place quick. Had 2 very quick guys behind me all race tho and I kept them at bay all race but on the final lap I scrubbed 1 turn in and they both squeaked past. I seemed to be gaining a little ground here and there but just couldnt do enough.
All in all still a good race. Had fun but wanna do better.
Just realized reading here yesterday and today that I had completely forgotten about the boost button for this car.
@Pigems Props on hitting the 25's! That just seems too fast. I thought 26 was fast and that if I could break into those this week I would be happy. Guess not lol. Although watching your video reminded me how late you can brake with this car. Thanks for posting I'll be studying it and trying to 1up you soon
@Rexracer702 I also have not had enough time to really put in any laps and really hone anything in lately. Couple races 3 or 4 times a week and thats it. Still havent had a chance to join one of pigems lobbies, only done a handful of Fia races. Feel like I barely get to play. Yet when I do the girlfriend says I play too much Lol. Work and golf once or twice a week takes up the rest of my free time...(sigh)
such is life.
