I drove the MR2, nice little car to toss around. Handles much better than most of the '90s Japanese cars added to the game. But I refuse to drive Tokyo.

I don't like the new Blue Moon layout, it feels very arcadey. And not a fan of Willow Springs, so looks like it's time trials again for me tonight.

I've never had connection errors while playing online. I'm on 100mb fiber glass and my playstation is wired. And I've played a lot last weeks. I even can play remote, although that's not what I do in online races.

Maybe I'm just lucky..

First race on the Blue Moon roval and I started on pole! Few rough patches here and there and fell back, but I got a good run on the leader going onto the final straight. Would surely pass him, until he just slammed the brakes right in front of me. He spun, but I lost a lot of speed with a 2sec penalty and no way to keep the following guys behind. :banghead:

Fun track, though.

Don't ignore any penalties that you get; I got disqualified for ignoring mine. Whoops.
I think you're supposed to back off a bit when you first get it, otherwise it starts flashing and the penalty will increase every second(?) you ignore it (I think). I got my penalty near the end of Willow Springs race (my race was the worst I've had for a while), so I just ignored it to see what it would go up to. It got to 60 seconds, then I got a warning that I'll be disqualified in 20 seconds for exceeding the penalties (I didn't try to lose 60 sec of penalties in 20 secs!). Also it pays to read the patch notes too before you race!

The SR penalty system has definitely changed; probably my bad for driving at Willow Springs.

What does it do when it disqualifies you, just immediately removes you from the race?

Yeah, you get booted immediately. Something comes up on the screen (looks like a "disconnection" message with a whole bunch of numbers), and then you just go back to the GT Sport race page.

Tried again and got shot into the wall of the hairpin. It immediately gave me a 10sec penalty. 1st to last in one lap. If I braked any later than I did, I'm off track anyway.

Man!!! It looks like that time penalties have entered a compete new stage! Somehing different in that field. at last!! Let´s see if it´s better or worse.. in the near future! :))

I got a 5 second for being pushed into a wall, and took 1.5 laps to scrub it off, with no threat of extra time displayed. Maybe the extra time only happens for SR penalties involving other cars? or something?

This only will change. .when all players get conscious about the way they are driving... and that 1st they must step out their right foot out of the accelerator and use more the left break foot... that and start (a lot more) to mind about not hitting nor even touching nobody ... no walls and not passing over the track boundaries.. this will only be possible with less stepping on the accelerator or stepping it much more gently...

I think it will take at least one week until people feel this urge need to refrain their impulses for acceleracion!!

I think you are right. when Monza opened up it was pandemonium. As people have gained experience with the track racing with other cars on the track, my last daily there was much better at the first chicane. Having raced there, doing the track experience for Monza in Campaign mode was pretty easy for all golds.

That's interesting. I've never carried that many penalties through a race, although I've been in the 50s range at Tokyo. I usually just keep going. The penalty message is fine, but I find the whole "Slow Down" message distracting. Most other tracks the penalty usually reduces over time providing you don't keep incurring them.

No dailys for me tonight. I'm exploring the new update. Inspired by the Bathurst daily yesterday, I took the RX-7 for a spin. The new Blue Moon reminded me of Daytona.

I haven't actually tried the FIA races. Is being DR B / SR S acceptable to join these races or is it only for the hardcore PC sim guys who have SS ranks?

I was the same until very recently mate, wasn't confident enough to give them a go, but, if you've been driving the dailies there's absolutely no reason not to 👍

I actually prefer the format anyway, closer to the GT6 online races I'm accustomed too.

Damn, it will be fun when Monza comes up again where pretty much no one can run the track without shortcut penalties. It's going to be a slow race lol. The last race I had on Interlagos would have looked very differently as well with all the pushing and bumping going on. However having GR.1 cars now slow down immediately after contact might just cause more issues.

Ugh, I just checked, got another -5 SR for getting disconnected while loading the track for the final race before the patch. Now I'm SR.A Great place to start with the new penalty system :/

10. Sport Mode
 - The Sportsmanship Rating (SR) and penalty judgement algorithms have been improved;
 - In a collision between two cars, a penalty will now be added to the Driver Rating (DR) as well as incurring a Time Penalty depending on the situation;
 - If a driver continues to drive without complying with a certain amount of Time Penalty, additional time penalties will be added. (The additional penalty depends on the DR);
 - A driver may now be disqualified from a race if the number of collisions and shortcuts they accumulate becomes too great;
 - Cars over a lap behind will now be ghosted and will not be subject to collisions. (Only enabled in Sport mode);
 - It is now possible to submit grief reports for misconduct of other users.

Does the second point mean that also DR goes down together with SR? Is it meaningful?

Today I posted my absolute daily distance record, 507km!

Only in two cars, Nissan Skyline R32 and Subaru WRX RC.

Nations Cup was ok, i got some and made some hits, but nothing intentional.
I'm really sorry for hitting GB guy, did everything to miss him and then lost couple positions when waiting to let him ahead again - not many would do that, I think.
But it's has to be done.

Overall, up & down race:

Hello, I was in there too. Didn't get a great start but worked my way back up to finish behind you. Was chipping away at the gap after the pits but it opened up a fair amount after a couple of laps.
Second race went rather less well. A few dings didn't help. There was also someone out for revenge in there.

I don't think its better, the penalties are harder but the fairness ot it remains the same, I just had a Gr3 race in the new track and hit a car that lost control in a corner, totally unavoidable and not my fault yet still I had to serve the penalty or get disqualified...

Not to be a skeptic, but I have a hard time believing totally unavoidable.
I imagine somebody lost control in front of you and instead of braking or slowing down you lifted slightly and tried to steer around them, but then hit them.

If the new SR system promotes people actually slowing down (with brakes) to avoid hitting a driver who's out of control, I'm all for that.

I can vouch, second curve seems to be the main culprit, the speed differences can be extreme between a car on the racing line and another carelessly returning to track right on front of you. Very difficult to avoid at best. If you do manage to slow in time there's a fair chance of you being rammed from behind due to the blind nature of the corner.

Yep.. I think that´s the idea... to implement a "drive more carefully and more consciously" state of mind! And that will take some time.. (I say it again...) It will "grow" on you... bit by bit...

Did three races on the new Blue Moon layout with the Gr3. cars, was able to drive maybe 5/21 laps without a penalty being shot at me for various reasons, mainly because of others crashing into me 🤬 // will try to get my SR back to 99 and rescue a little DR and then step away from Sport Mode for a while I guess

The Tokyo Expressway Outer Loop is a fun track for N100-N300 class cars. For example, I've had good experiences with the Toyota 2000GT, 86 GT, both Nissan Skylines, and the Suzuki Swift. The only time I don't like that track (or its variations) is when it involves classes N400+. There's a lot more wall crashing, both intentional and unintentional.

Well, for me it was unavoidable, needless to say I'm not the most skilled driver in the world, also the driver I hit sent a sorry message after the race as he found the incident to be his fault.

That's too bad then, sorry.
Most of the accidents I see (or are involved in) is when drivers try to get around wrecks with minimal to no defensive driving because they don't want to be passed by other drivers who don't slow down (granted they're probably going to be protected by the yellow flag rules).

Personally I wish more SIM drivers would slow down when they're around accidents.
