Still undefeated. This one was great to start, no T1 Carnage and the guy that started on pole was super clean. I did get around him on the outside of the 2nd hairpin and I guess something happened after that because he fell down the order.

Edit: started 3rd in this one right behind Turismo_kid who is 5th in the region with a 52.4xx. Used the no TCS start to whiz past him and never looked back. Pretty sure he had issues with backmarkers. Still undefeated, 11 race clean streak...

Has anybody else seen a guy from behind who rams you and then drives off of the track to give you a 3 second penalty? I swear this guy did it on purpose as he was actively weave blocking me until he finally cut into my braking line and got rammed off of the track.
Allot of people know how to abuse the penaltysystem. It happened to me once on la Sarthe. The dude just wanted to ram me off but when that failed he just let his car role into the barriers. 5 sec for me... so yea some people just like to abuse the system atm.

Great lap keep pushing!! Here's an onboard vid of my best lap from last night maybe you can see something different to make use of.. I hope to beat this lap tonight when I go back.. another couple of tenths for me to get 👍 GL with it ;)

Thanks, and thanks for posting your great lap. :)
I'm losing 1.3sec on sector 3, the hairpin and the spoon, compared to you. Need improve that sector..
In sector 1 I'm slightly faster, like 0,03s
I have some real fear of the spoon, like "there is no spoon". Like it would always suck the life out of my lap

Just posted this in the touring car thread. Surprised when the game came out, we didn't get a Civic touring car. Anyway, if you don't watch touring car racing or don't understand Autopolis, have a look.

Here's video of 3/4 of the first lap.

Dagnabbit. Bumped down to A/A because, I get side checked by P1, as I'm about to pass it at the start of the last lap. I almost go off while recovering. Catch back up and being patient as I'm faster. The TT goes wide at the last right-hander, I swoop on the inseide and it turns into me ping ponging onto the outside grass. I get 5 seconds and 3rd place grabs 1st.

Well said bud
Some cars selected for Nations are insufferable for reasons I've mentioned in the past, which is validated by silly front tyre wear. PD will assume all is well and everyone is having fun, but at least the RBJ has broken this trend. If the game is democratic, then it should expand to other championships where players who have paid good money get to chose the types of cars and championships they want to race in; beginner > amateur > intermediate > advanced > elite.
Hmmm... I can do it (top30 in EMEA atm). It's just dumb and unrealistic how the car handles, that's it.

Those 2 huge spoilers on the rear would make the car stick to the track at mid/high speed in racing tires (even hards). The car doesn't have enough power to slide so much either.

After this week, I might try and get it to be more neutral and closer to the edge without it being wayward which would be more realistic. I think the guy who designed it wanted to make it as forgiving as possible as he gave it relatively narrow tyres, with wide track and very high downforce. A bit like the modern F3 car vs the old narrow ones from the 90s.

I had a couple of races, and I am consistent - sort of. I either win, or come last. Yep, I mean 15th!! My 4th race, I am coming second; the guy is all over the place, almost loosing it every 3rd corner. Lap 3 he looses it into the sand; I then drive by, he gets on the black top, and doesn't brake at all at the next corner - off I go, and I cannot get out of the sand; not re-set either. Not sure his country, but a red flag with a gold star in the middle ... is that Hong Kong?? When I'm in the sand or grass, if I go full throttle the car spins; and partial throttle does not work on GTS. Without TC I could not get out. So from first to 15th!!! My lap time was 1:55 seconds ... also a record for me. Not.

Funny thing was yesterday I engaged TC for the first two corners, and it worked. Just turn it off after turn 4. Today I ran some laps before the race - the car was slow. I couldn't get below 1:23.5. Very weird. I pulled out of the race because I knew I'd be slow in the race if my practice was hopeless. Went back, still slow ... then I found out I had TC on 1 ... turned it off, got a 1:22.76x. The strange thing about TC1 is that the car still spins, but its also slow. TC2 - I used to use that a fare bit. IMO forget TC 1 except if your nervous at a start ..

I don't know how to sum up my events of last night. I got 2 wins but got dropped to a B SR. Some of that was to do with a bad car choice, horrible overtake attempts and people braking too early right in front of me. One penalty was down right idiotic as I was the victim rather than the attacker. I did the Group 4 race at Autopolis and immediately remembered why I don't drive FF vehicles. The Scirocco understeers almost every time you go near the throttle, and can severely compromise your line. I got lucky, as one fool in a TT was keen on pushing everyone off. He bashed into me and I cop a 2 second penalty for HIS idiocy. Well that's harsh but the guy in front got a 4 SECOND PENALTY... Someone's trying to rig the system. Hilariously for me, I got up to first after the penalty zone. I stayed there for the rest of the race, but had to fend off another hard-charging Scirocco on the last lap. Didn't win by much.

Then I did Race C. Ugh. I went off at the first corner, even though I got a decent start. Things did improve as I worked my way through the field, but it came to a head on lap 8. I was in 5th place and got behind the guy in 4th heading into Spoon. I tried to make a dive which wasn't successful and I gave the guy in 6th a sniff. Then I had a run going into 130R and dived to the inside at the Casio Triangle. It worked, but I lost the place on the next lap. The guy behind took the inside line at the first corner and I had to let him by. Nothing I could do. I desperately tried to make another move but I had to wrestle the car and balance the throttle precariously. At Spoon, I was again right behind and had another run into 130R. I had to hang it round the outside but I went wide but still made a dive in the braking zone. Bad decision. I completely overshot the corner and hit the guy in 4th, getting a 2 second penalty. The guy in 6th spun exiting the Casio Triangle and I was demoted to 5th. Stupid move.

I tried the Ferrari 458 GT3 at Brand Hatch to see if it was any good. Nope, it was dreadful. I couldn't keep the car straight on corner exit, and bumped into a heap of people managing the hideous oversteer. I wrecked my SR in that race, and I feel like such a dick for not going with a tried and tested choice. So for the next race, that's exactly what I did. I chose the Mercedes AMG GT3, the best handling Group 3 there is. I utterly dominated that race, never being tested once. I even went quicker than the qualifying time I set in it; a 1:23.5 compared to a 1:23.7. An excellent victory.

I've had 2 crazy days of racing...

That means next week‘s A race will either be someting boring (Goodwood with a Mini) or something hilarious (Goodwood with a Porsche 962)

I'm expecting it will be the Ferrari 250 GTO if it's strictly a One-Make. Or if recent Race As are to go by, a selection of N300 classic cars since you have the GTO, E-Type etc. That would be the ideal scenario.

Also, Minis are fun. No hate, please. ;)

Given they had the Ferrari 250, could they have the DB3S if we do get Goodwood? I've not bought it yet (still saving for a unicorn), but I hear it's great to drive. If not, the E-Type would be good, hopefully with no CSA, could be some slidey fun.

Has anybody else seen a guy from behind who rams you and then drives off of the track to give you a 3 second penalty? I swear this guy did it on purpose as he was actively weave blocking me until he finally cut into my braking line and got rammed off of the track. Then he caught up and bumped me and then just veered hard left off of the track giving me a penalty. It's weird if the off track penalty can be given from rear cars.

These people are weird.

Yes it gets abused. It can also be a tool to remove bad drivers from the road.

Be careful on tracks with walls as it's very easy to abuse the system there. I prefer giving out revenge penalties instead of revenge punts. That makes sure the other driver won't be in your next race. Although better just let it go an go on with your race. It would be a full time job at certain times of day.

@jaquelinesv the Mustang is a sleeper, might not get the win but for sure competitive. I haven’t seen anyone try the Vette but it should do well.

Give em a try and let us know.

I ran the vette the past two nights, quite like it as it turns in quite well and is stable. Only issue is i get squirrly under power compared to really planted cars like the Merc or Aston.

On another note re. Brands, what's with the lack of penalties?? i have been RELENTLESSLY run off the road and i'd say 3/4 of the time the other driver escapes with no penalty. I mean it's Brands so even a slight brush means you can easily spin off as it's so slippery and off camber so often. I don't get it, I keep my nose clean and get pushed off with regularity and don't see a penalty.

Not something I see every day.....second to Tidgney! I’ll pretend I haven’t calculated the gap! ;)

Nice. Was trying to work out the livery on the Mustang. From that distance it looks a bit like the livery I did for Bathurst.

It does drive nice but takes a bit of getting used to. Sets up a nice drift, but it just isn't competitive with the 330 P4 or the XJ13 .

I noticed that too. The 'bump' threshold is too low for this track as a minor push is enough to seriously mess you up.

Instead of the other driver getting a penalty for bumping me twice, I get a 5 sec wall penalty :banghead:

It still works against me

Here I'm the only one to get a (4 sec) penalty.

I suspect DR discrimination is in play. I'm B/S, got put in rooms behind D/S players.

The system is BS anyway. I just lost the clean race bonus for avoiding a track re-entry, had to brake and step onto the grass. No incident (kept the car under control) but if I had run into the track re-entry, he would have likely got SR Down and I would have kept the clean race bonus. Logic.

So whenever there is any contact whatsoever, the first one to run off track hands out the penalty?

Basically, yes. Force of contact, inconsistent track limits and DR differences come into play as well. The game still has trouble figuring out what to do when one car comes from off road right before contact. Sometimes that already results in a penalty for the other car. 'First' can also be tricky with lag when both cars go off.

But with everything being equal, contact -> one car goes off, other penalty. Doesn't matter how, where or why.

The 250 GTO was used once before at Brands, it's possible it could be used again. One of the 10 - 20M cars would be nice to see, the roulette wheel has never dropped one for me and prefers to give me a Golf GTI instead so I'd be down for the DB3S. CSA will likely be disabled, I hope. PDA had it disabled for the recent Porsche 356 race and Race As after it.

Sven just got called a rookie, by some idiot in the post-race chat.

Also, the penalty zone at Brands Hatch is really in a lousy place. I just had to drive off the track to avoid a car that unghosted right before the final turn. :banghead:

Typical A/Ss driver. That penalty zone is lots of trouble when racing from the back. You always get the naughty people served up right in front of you, slowed in front of the braking point.

Enough Ferrari 'fun' Supra next.

THIS. I understand there are difficult scenarios for the system to make sense of but this is straight forward, i don't see the confusion. Happens to me EVERY RACE and most often, no penalty. It should be a SOLID 10 seconds, solid. You will lose at least 5 for going off track at brands.
I got the same and went from 1st to stone motherless last!!

One good thing about the Brands penalties though - I was hit in the back and did not go off (second corner) but I did not get a penalty. I reckon the penalties are different at Brands because a hit in the back is not punishing the car in front ...

So far I have lost about 5k DR at Brands and I am not overly slow ... but when I get hit off, I can't get the car back onto the track ... and I have never been re-set either. If I used TC I would be too slow and also I don't like the feel of TC. But its sure costly when I get bumped off.

The cure though is to drive faster I reckon ... I need to learn how to do that.

The worst thing though about the penalty systems - I got beaten up including re-appearing in the middle of pack - and I got -16SR for that infringement. And of course, off to my worthy last place ...

So the next race, I am on the pole and I win by 8 seconds, and got 450 DR.

Next race - On the pole and I win and get 400 DR.

Next race my SR is 95 or something, I am with the good guys - and I come last again, but very unfortunately, I gained SR (also I was very close to the 3rd car with S and A+ drivers everywhere hah hah). Gaining SR costs me DR ... and that's the way PD want it IMO. If I am in a pack of the good guys and I push and shove, I'd either push them away and get a gap behind me, or I'd get punished and lower my SR and next race, I'll be rewarded with a fun win, and push up my percentage of leading laps, and get some DR gain too.

How crazy is that?
