I bet Sven (which by the way means "Young warrior" in Old norse (an antiquated Nordic language)) has more online GT sport races under his belt than anyone here! I envy his proclivity for racing in defiance of the puntfest he endures. A true warrior indeed!

I'm currently 3rd for race count.

Think of all the time you save by never qualifying!

This starting on pole in shuffle mode is tricky. It takes a lap to get used to the car. I just rolled the NSX and that's a slippery one when you have just been driving the understeer Citroen GT. I fell to 4th in lap 1, finished 2nd since 2 and 3 took each other out. Neutral S from the bumps received from behind. There is a lot more bumping at the front. It's also dirty hour, 70% red ratings in the races.

BMW Z4 next, that was the worst before (stuck in traffic). That should have a big improvement starting up front, if I don't get run off. So far no outer track excursions yet :)

That was a time trial, 2nd crashed early. There was a faster Mustang coming from behind but he was still over 2 sec short at the end. The Z4 did not beat my previous times of the M3 which is up next, RNG keeps me with BMW. Should be good.

BMW was good, fast time trial run, pole to victory. Next race I got into the fast room (23K DR) starting 6th with the Corvette. Bad place to be. I had a ramming Mustang behind me who dive bombed me in Sterlings. I went off, fell to 13th, the Mustang did not get a penalty. I finished 10th in the end, faster lap again as previous in the Corvette, yet worse finish than the race I did from the back with clean race bonus. (Also lost that this race due to the draft bumping from behind)

RNG is making me start 8th in the MacBWaren, in between two yellow connection Porsches, rip. Rammed and bumped again, no penalty for getting bumped into the grass at Graham hill bend, but made some positions back. Finished 7th in the end. So bumpy starting in the middle. Plus the MacBWaren has been downgraded, much slower now.

Break time!

Still the same as always, start top 3 or bottom 3, otherwise good luck surviving...

Race B has been so unforgiving for me. Touch the grass GG. Guy spins out and touches me, penalty for me GG. So far my favourite cars for this are the M3 and the Mustang. just dropped my qualy to 1:24.707 from 1:25.4 in the M3. Missed the 6:10 race so I'm gonna smoke a cone and hit the 6:30. My last race today i placed 2nd after starting 8th. this was after many races of crashing and finishing at the back. I might finally understand brands.
The thing about Brands is it only takes one slight off and you're probably not going to recover in 5 laps. Add a spin and the race is then just damage control. At least for me, I'm not fast enough to make up that many positions.

Cooler heads did prevail today though. Taking it easy and not driving aggressively seems to be the key. Finally got my clean race achievement.

I can usually push back up a few spots, but it can be frustrating depending on how people at the back drive. Earlier today I got punted in turn 2 of the first lap and went from 5th to last. What was worse than that though was the guy at the back intentionally rammed me off three times. It wasn't even just aggressive driving, he was just trying to murder me.

I do agree though, the race is far too short. I wish Daily Race B this week was the long one.

And that backfield can be pretty ugly.

It happened to me today too. I went from 4th to 11th on the first lap, my own fault, and finished 3rd with the fastest lap.

The room was full of D/S and 1 to 2 A/S-C/S guys. I’ve noticed guys just quitting from their own mistake to spinning from contact. Never give up!

Those top guys quitting sure helped my DR though.:dunce:

RNG was kind and picked the Audi and Porsche for my last 2 races today. With the Audi I got pole in the 'slow' room and ran away from the pack. With the Porsche I started 9th in the fast room. Made up 2 places then lost 2 places, finished 9th. Clean race bonus, good race.

10 cars revisited, driven from the top this time and ordered by new best lap.
1:23.813 (1:24.078) Audi R8
1:24.314 (1:24.735) BMW M3 Power
1:24.629 (1:24.965) Porsche 911
1:24.704 (1:24.905) Hyundai Genesis
1:24.751 (1:24.972) Mercedes SLS AMG
1:24.884 (1:24.891) Honda NSX
1:24.884 (1:25.698) BMW Z4
1:24.914 (1:25.395) Chevrolet Corvette C7
1:25.562 (1:25.337) Citroen GT
1:25.983 (1:25.073) McLaren BMW

5 victories tonight, depending on the room I got sorted in. My DR is now just shy of 25K. Tomorrow I should get into the 'fast' room more often.

Undefeated streak officially over. After I got a 5 second BS penalty in the very first corner for ramming into the back of someone because I was ran into first, and getting run off the road by a re-joiner and again on the final lap by people being impatient, I rage quit. F that.

I can comfortably drive the Gr.3 cars with TCS 1 now. Always had to use 2 before. :odd:

Is that since the update? When I used TCS a while back, I found TCS 1 made almost no difference from 0.

I can almost hear the chicane of death filing its teeth for next week.

Which, Goodwood or Dragon Trail? I think I can safely refer to them both as that.

So after going back to Race A on Autopolis this week, I've gone on a massive win streak (gone from 23 to 38 WINS) and DR gains from 25K to 33K .... I think three factors have helped here;

1. SR dropped to B and got put up against a lot of other B drivers who are not as quick (start pole or 2nd each time on the grid)
2. set a 1:53:4 qualifier
3. Maybe I'm just good at this track compared to others and a lot of people are avoiding it?

So while I am now DR A SR S ...... next week I have no doubt I will be back to DR B :D .... I'll have fun while it lasts

Someone mentioned the Slophy may be the META next week. Do yourselves a favour, go awd. It's the only way to keep two tyres on the track and grass as players push you off.
I might actually buy an "OyVey"ron for the races. My Atenza, just doesn't have the mass to ricochet those sneaky players.

This was how Brands used to be for me, then it suddenly "clicked" and now I love it. Took the 356 to do it lol.

This. Brands rewards patience IMO. First lap I'm not even attacking, I'm feeling the crowd out and watching what everyone does. Usually people screw up and I gain easy positions on lap 1, then around lap 3 I'm in a groove and either maintaining a gap or chasing someone down. IF on pole I take turn 1 a little slow on entry to ensure I dont run wide and screw myself for turn 2 with a crowd of cars. But once through T1 it's quali pace to try and build a gap while hopefully 2nd/3rd get tied up fighting and costing them time.

What I do love about this track, is that because the risk is so high, most drivers are leaving room for error and not going for a pole setting lap, and when you have 2-3 guys all within a second upping the pace lap after lap trying to pressure others into risking too much, it makes for great intense racing. It's not like say Fuji which is more point and shoot, you're pushing near quali laps non stop with ease due to low risk. Brands is more like a Monaco, hugely rewarding to those willing to risk it all but also devastating if you make a tiny error. Love it.

Anyone else ever get those Flash Flood and Severe Thunderstorm warnings on you phone that just totally ruins your concentration?
I only need a phone call while I'm racing to take 0.4 seconds from the next 4 corners ... let alone thinking that there was a possible Tsunami flood approaching my place.

Since the system upgrade I've had 3 firsts and a second. But no last places ... yet .... but despite gaining back some DR, I am still 4,000 DR below the start of the week.

Yeah as soon as I found my comfort zone on that track I started enjoying it way more. I'm not the fastest but I stay within my limit and usually do well. The most drama I have is occasionally dipping a wheel off right before Sheene and then sliding through the turn but it's surprisingly manageable.

Did 4 Daily B races today to:
  1. Restore my SR from 80s to 99 after Monza yesterday
  2. Get back a few thousand DR to get A+ rating back
  3. Test out the new physics
Shockingly I had 4 clean race bonuses in a row. 1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd. All went better than expected. In the 4th race I started 4th but the seas parted and 2nd place just presented itself...

Clean Race Bonus!!

After 4 first and a second, I had another race ... back to 11th this time, a lost of 1,000 DR. I was leading coming into the second lap, moving away too ... then my TV said it is turning off in 5 minutes. I worked out that would be during the race .. the remote is out of reach ... I grab something and knock it onto the floor, then drag it towards me. Still leading but he's gaining now with new spirit ... I turn the volume down which tells the TV that it is after all being used, BUT - I can't hear the engine revs, and I run wide ... then I come out and hit a car, plus get my 4.5 second penalty. So good news - SR down to 85, I wish it could go down more ... next couple of races I'll win, which is good for the percentage leading laps statistic. I will get maybe 700 back from two wins before I get back into the good group. If I am over 6 seconds in front, I am going to drive off the track and scrape fence, as that should keep my SR down and I'll earn some more easy DR and wins ... :mischievous:

Actually my question was: What do you do about these people?

Dive bombs happen at the front as well. The question is, do you avoid a dive bomb and let the diver through unpunished, reinforcing their idea of making a 'good' pass. Or, let them hit you and let the penalty system give them a slap on the wrist while possibly ruining your own race. The fact is, he kept doing it in the next 2 races (perhaps longer, I had to go) so obviously he thought it was a valid strategy since most people try to stay on the road when getting dive bombed, thus no penalty.

You're in favor of playing the whistle, which is what he is doing there. But he managed to turn a clean racing room into a mess by the 3rd race. That kind of behavior rubs off, tempers get flared and I'm glad I had some real stuff to do instead of more races like that.

This certainly can't be a valid overtake in real racing

Yet it works in GT Sport. The inside car is always right as long as the outside car doesn't go off. He's simply playing the whistle. The other cars he dive bombed didn't move out of the way, but still stayed on the track. Only 1 out of 4 went off each race so he did end up with one penalty, far from enough to discourage his rate of success.

So what do you do with people that play the penalty system to their advantage.

Sometimes you have to take the nuclear option.
