Well I've tried the Huracan, GT by Citroen and the 86. The Citroen was the best on fuel, as it ran out at the start of lap 15.

GT is best on fuel, but I still have to drive it in FM2 and shift as soon as the bar becomes visible. You can save a bit extra by drafting other people and/or lifting early to coast into corners, so you have a bit extra to spend later in the race, like shift halfway up the bar instead of right away. Always keep an eye on the laps remaining. It's not accurate yet in the first 2 laps yet after it becomes pretty reliable.

All set for this week. Even Aussie'd up my car a bit. :D

So I tried manual gears yesterday for Race C. Yes, short shifting dramatically reduced my fuel consumption, but I always pulled up one or two laps short. I needed to use 6% of the tank each lap, but my average was more like 8% per lap. In the first two laps, I used 15% which is too much. How can I reduce my fuel usage even further without dropping 10 places? How and when should I be shifting? I'm hugely inexperienced with a manual gearbox so any help would be much appreciated.

Bang on with that 6% usage required.

A few things you have to figure out with your car of choice. Shift early enough that you can use 6% fuel at whatever fuel map you run at. For example my first race in the Ferrari I ran fuel map 3 and shifted about half way along the shifter bar. I figured that it was costing me too much speed on the straights, so I decided to try fuel map 2 and shifting earlier (basically where the shifter bar just lights up), which worked. I then took a punt and figured if I lift and coast into the braking zones, then I could sit on fuel map 1 and be able to go the race distance. The nature of the Goodwood circuit I decided running fuel map 1 to maximize straight line speed was the priority, that is why I tried to run fuel map 1 and make it work for the race distance.

To throw a spanner in the works, some cars will run this better than others. Because you are shifting earlier than the engine delivers power efficiently, there is a point where shifting earlier doesn't give you any more fuel savings yet costs you speed. Take the BMW M4 '14 (road car) for example. It will fuel save most efficiently at a shift approx. 1/3rd along the shifter bar. You can shift earlier, but it accelerates slower and costs more fuel as it takes longer to get going. Each car is unique and takes practice/experience with that car to get it right. It's not as simple as just shifting earlier, but shifting at the right time to maximize fuel savings while reducing the speed loss.

The other option can be to shift early, but not to go the whole distance, but to reduce the time spent in the pits. Often it only costs yourself a couple of tenths per lap but will gain you seconds in the pit stop not having to refuel.

If you are saving fuel, you can expect to be slower than those behind who aren't. One skill you will need to learn is how to battle these cars, either maintaining your position or to let them by so it doesn't cost you a lot in time on track, as you will get back past them when they eventually pit.

Don't ya hate it when ya finally find a car that suites you for the weekly....at 0100 monday!!?? Genesis on race b is a gem.

What's this week's list? If a link would be copied it would be appreciated

Rebuilding shed. First was raising it and remove the rotten floor. Surprisingly smooth

Finally, versus the RC Fs properly.

Kept my nose clean for the first couple laps. One of the RC Fs signaled to let me pass at the final corner. Did that fine and we both gave room. Just, too much understeer from me and it got the position back. End of next lap, got it back as the lead RC F hit the chicane. This caused the 2nd place RC F to have a poor exit. Lead until pit stop end of lap 10 with 19% in the tank. Overfilled and rejoined in 4th.

Leader was 7.4 seconds ahead. Trigger pressed and rounded up the lone leading RC F on Lap 12. The TT that pushed me off when I used the Slophy(don't like that player), was 3 seconds behind and I was pulling away.
After the RC F signaled on the pit straight, I rounded up the Cayman then, Citroen. Lap 15, passed them both while accelerating on the pit straight.

Did a Race B just to see about the RS01. Still not going to enter any FIA races with it.

During my final Race C at Goodwood this evening I had a proper battle between a fast group. Started in 3rd behind a Cayman and a RCF. Had a good launch in the Stang and the proceeded to attempt clean overtakes. A few minor mistakes aided in me grabbing pole. The RCF pitted a lap after me and the Cayman ran a no stop strategy. With 3 laps left, I was trailing the Cayman by 6 seconds with the RCF in striking distance just behind. Closed the gap approaching Woodcote on the final lap. This is us entered into Woodcote nearly 3 wide. I somehow managed to pass on the outside for the win. Good racing tonight.

Lol that was me in the RC, that finish was amazing!! Great and super clean race too, we all kept cool heads coming into Woodcote. Thought I could grab 2nd when the Cayman got sideways (of his own doing) but it was too sketchy to try and squeeze in before the chicane without a possible huge crash, so I backed out and tried for the exit of the chicane and nearly got him. I think we all finished within 1sec at the line. Great fun.

This weeks “dailies” do not look that great...

N200 at Fuji short
Gr.4 at Mount Panorama
Gr.2 at Alsucks Village II

I think I will be doing Gr.4 and losing SR most of this week...

Made a few changes to my rig tonight. I have the old playseat evolution and the side to side movement, brake movement under pressure and overall play was atrocious.

Nothing a trip to Lowe’s can’t fix. The rigidity is near perfect now. The next step would be to do an 80/20 rig. Till then this is pretty darn solid now with barely any movement.

Really helped with my consistency and feel for the chassis tonight. Had I think two 2nd place finishes within a second(should have won one, but biffed last turn), a 3rd within a second of both, then 5 wins by 10-20sec. I got into a groove and started doing back to back 19:23-24 race times. Time for sleep.

The skies turned to black. The oceans fell dead, no winds dared to blow. Then out the darkness with a thunderous roar. Leviathan rose up from the depths below! Final roll of the dice at the last chance saloon, and again, snake eyes . Went in with the Veyron and managed to beat my previous qualifying time. That got me P10/18 on a mixed grid of DR/B, C and D. It was a most craptastic race.

The start was ok, but that was about it. The difference between handling for qualifying and race was dramatic. I had a hard time keeping it on the track... when I wasn't being smashed around. I had to pit lap 12 and the tyre wear was the first time I needed to change tyres too. That cost me many positions. Most of the race was spent on the grass and on the last lap I got hammered on all side by people all desperate not to finish last. I crossed P14, but the 7s penalties accumulated in the final 2 corners from being hit by 4 different cars dropped me to P17. I was not happy Jan .

When I think of Goodwood.. I think hill climb.. beginning to wish it was . SR dropped from 99 to 86, and congratulations me.. I lasted all of 4 races in DR/C befoe dropping back to D. DR dropped from 4961 to 2348. Another day above DR 1 :odd:.

Must recommend qualify. No stop. Started 2nd to last and I think it was the player in position 12 that punts us at the back(have to look at the race again). Just wiid man. too wild.

Well the gr2 at alsace pleasently surprised me. Dunno if its only the class or a combo of that with the new physics, the track is beautifully flowing and a joy to race around. First time since launch ive actually enjoyed racing at alsace

Fyi: No fuel strategy required. No tire change either, but you will get below half of the tires left if your pushing, so understeer will set in late in the race

Is it possible to use RM in qualifying?? Or RH only?

No patience. I had nowhere to go up mountain straight. Cars are unghosting from the PZ. I slowed down and stayed behind it. A white Lambo is way back and keeps going. takes the grass and pulls up right in front of me at the turn. What the hell?!!

Edit:
Another one. Pole was blocking 2nd and 3rd for about 3 laps. It got a bad exit on the last corner of the last lap and wants to bump me into the pits.

I just managed pole to dead last at Seaside.
And that was pretty much the best result I got after a full week of many races at my favorite track!
Feeling so badly beaten right now that I felt the need to compose a haiku.

Bus stop is painful
But others take it no probs
My week has been sad.

Ah well, time for Bathurst.
Joining session... failed to join session.
OH COME ON!!!!
Serenity now, serenity now :)

Had my final 3 races at Goodwood on Saturday, all 3 races started 4th, all 3 races finished second to a no stopping Cayman, but bizarrely a different grid each time but very similar-races, FF car so drop to about 8th after the start, wait for a couple of crashes, a couple of nice passes, lead the race until the stops, come out second, close in to within 2 seconds by the end of the race, 3 times in a row.

Great for the DR, went from a DR reset to 14K in a week, so happy with that. SR at 99.

Not sure if I am going to race this week, never raced Bathurst, and I really really need a lot of time to practice plus the track layout spells bloodbath if you are not starting near the front, so it may just be practice laps all week and may be ready to race by the weekend as I have a horrible feeling I am going to be about 6 seconds off fastest times to start with.

Yeah, I quite like the 86/BR-Z race. Time of day kind of puts me to sleep, but it's cool not wishing PD would utilize both cars.

Qualified at BAthurst with a 2:15.0 in the GT-R. The Atenza was 1 second slower for me. The WRX is real nice. NO top end, but it's butter smooth. Almost like it has the RC F suspension.

I only have tonight to get some times for this week's races. It's going to be miserably hot today (100F / 37C), which means I won't be able to have the PS4 on without having it sound like an F-14 and exploding.

But anyways, here's the times I set that no one is asking for! :D

A - 2:00.932 w/ Subaru BRZ (BB +1)
B - 2:12.717 w/ Ford Mustang Gr. 4 (BB -1)
C- 1:43.577 w/ MOTUL AUTECH GT-R '16 (BB +2)
