I've started on pole at Fuji 6 times, and been knocked off the track at the first turn 3 or 4 times. It's normally because of the 3rd or 4th place guy braking too late and creating a domino effect. Haven't figured out the best way to defend for turn 1, lap one yet. Gonna try some new strategies. Might be better off staying wide left to let the crashes happen. 💡

I like getting through the 1st turn in order. So my strategy is usually squeeze into that spot. I try to communicate that the best I can, try to make it obvious where I'm going. It's been working for me.

But yesterday, I started P2 yesterday beside @Mistah_MCA. Totally intended to give him the 1st turn but I think he didn't get the best start so I went ahead. He passed me later and drove off into the sunset.

I KNEW I RECOGNIZED YOU FROM SOMEWHERE!
I couldn't put 2 and 2 together lol.

Yeah I was trying to control how much the wheels were spinning at the start, but I held back a little too much haha

I just got called out for cheating, because of the way I take the last corner at Fuji. He rattled off some crap about how you can't do that in real racing. Oh god, where do I begin? First off, I can't stand people holding what we do in this game to the standards of actual auto racing with real drivers in real cars, in really dangerous situations.

Secondly, the track limits are where the penalties start. Am I actually alone in this thinking? Why should I give a damn what the rules are in any racing series that I'm not participating in? Makes no sense.

Thirdly, I present to you exhibit A:

How many penalties would these guys have had if they were in a GT Sport race?:lol::lol:
Sorry. That was a bit of a rant.

That video made me angry  It explains a lot of the crap behavior in GT Sport. Those drivers need to watch the etiquette video again

Mostly lobby racing from me today, but got back to B/A from my one race C, 10th to 6th in the GTR, flood of stock liveries, very lonely boring type of race but glad of the SR points.

probably gonna slide down the grid in race B from levelling up... Obsessive lapping at Bathurst tomorrow? It's looking that way... I take it Saturday lobby will be going on this week?

It most certainly will my good man, 9pm EST.

And it continues. This idiot blasted me in the ass for perceived cheating. His post race comments were "dirty corner" and "learn how to drive". I did my usual thing at the last turn, in front of him, and he got jealous. I was only near him because I got the usual first turn punt. Otherwise, this moron would've finished 12 seconds behind me. Apparently he doesn't understand me very well, because not only did his punt fail to modify my behavior, but it strengthened my resolve. I will now do it every single time ( I only did it when my momentum was too great, and I didn't want to slow down by tightening my turn). Also, he definitely gets smashed next time I see him.

:D It's just a game my man. No need to stoop down to his level.

FIA and Nascar are 2 different tings and if u are racing nascar style in GTS you should look back at racing etiquette lollllllll

I tried race C for the first time. At SR 36 I didn't feel like I needed any practice, just brake shortly after the gear indicator starts flashing. No problem, finished 6th with clean race bonus, 42 sec ahead of 7th, 6 sec behind 5th (who rammed me off while passing after pitting without getting a penalty of course) 7 people quit, rest all blue ratings despite plenty ramming going on before the field spread out. +25 SR from 36 to 61. That's 5 clean races on Bathurst lol. I didn't pit, should have since my lap times dwindled to 1:54 in the last lap. 2 more, then I can retry Bathurst at SR 99.

Watched @Pigems 's lap video for The Mountain. Managed to drop 1.5secs after 5 laps. Did about 10 more, could I get near it again? Not a hope! Thanks though buddy!

Went for a race. Well, 2 as is customary. Took my 'still not very good but slightly better' 18.4xx lap time and the HurryUp to the grid.

Race 1. A horror story from start to finish. Started P14. Finished P15... Of 15. I just wasn't very good. Made a few questionable manoeuvres, 1 which really abused the penalty system. I felt guilty so waited for him at the penalty zone. He didn't deserve it. I was just rubbish. Much apologising.

Race 2. In a quest to regain some DR I grabbed the trusty Evo. Slow and steady. Start P13 keep it together first lap and am very hot on the back of P12 coming into Murray's to start lap 2. Get a better line in and out of Hell Corner so we're side by side. I pick up a draft from P11 all the way to Griffin's and take P12 which I hold until he gets a better drive and draft out of Forest Elbow and takes it back down Conrod. All the while there's some 🤬 going down up ahead. We're super clean though. I give him a little tap into Hell on lap 3 but it doesn't hurt either of us. I am literally attached to his rear bumper on the way down to Griffin's for the last time, we're gaining on the mess ahead so I let off and coast after we make the crest. Very wise decision. He goes and joins the battle and I sit back and watch. Spins, walls hits, penalties galore through The Cutting and up the hill, then some more on the way back down. I began lap 3 where we started, P13. I finished it P7.

Understood. But, I enjoy it, actually. Someone who I never touched, that hits me me intentionally shall reap the whirlwind. This game would be a whole lot cleaner if everyone else took care of their own dirty laundry. An eye for an eye is as fair as it gets. I am not dirty. Anyone here who has raced me can tell you that. Not trying to come off as a badass, just one who only respects those who respect me back. My friends will be safe.
Consider me Tommy Lee Jones in this clip. Not looking for trouble, but standing up to those who are.

I couldn't care less about FIA. I don't even know what they do. No offense intended towards you.

Second C race, finished 9th with clean race bonus. Only 5 made it to the finish in time, winner had 26 sec lead. 5 quit, all blue SR again despite a lot of ramming in the first bit, only 2 red dots. Are the penalties turned off for race C? Wide track syndrome I suppose. +16 SR this time, no more SR boost. SR 77 so next one should put me at 93.

Luckily I haven't driven this track in a year so it doesn't feel too much like punishment lol. It's still a boring track even in GR.2, too wide.

3rd race, 11th place with clean race bonus. I'm getting much faster but finish lower and lower. Matchmaking... DR went up in SR.C now going down again. I got timed out right before the line this time. The winner won with 16 sec lead. My best lap is down to 1:47.6 and I actually got to overtake someone that wasn't in a barrier or serving a penalty :) SR to 93 as predicted. This one had 2 red ratings and 5 red dots. One more then before dinner, try Bathurst again after.

Clean streak at 4 now, back to 99 SR with a 9th place finish (in time) and a nice battle with another player for about a lap. The winner won with 3.9 sec gap, some actual racing going on at the front. 2 neutral ratings, 5 red dots, 5 quit, didn't beat my best lap from the previous race but was overall faster again.

Race B, hard to get clean race bonus, easy to drop 20 SR in one race.
Race C, easy to get clean bonus, hard to get a penalty apparently, too wide.

Been racing in a pretty quick ‘S’ lobby on Alsace and it’s been a pleasure (mostly). Firm but fair bunch. Even had a driver put me out of shape through the last turn on to the straight and he gave the position back to me. No door banging, no dive bombing, no weaving I thought I was in racing heaven. Thanks dude, wish I had got your tag to thank you in person.

Woo hoo! I just have to crow a little bit after a satisfying win last night. Normally I have time for a half dozen races throughout the day, but yesterday was a busy one so I only had one time for one race before bed. Surprised as heck to see my modest QT on pole for race A, then managed to motor away for a three star win! Pole, fast lap, and clean race! It’s been many months since I’ve had one of those and many many weeks since a win (48 now after over a year of playing).

Probably had everything to do with racing in SR B instead of S, and getting away from the shenanigans right away. I’m not one to intentionally lower my score for wins but it is nice after so many of my rooms in SR S have had a half dozen or more DR A or S drivers that I have no hope of beating.

I had one of my most intense races ever earlier at Race C. I've somehow been winding up in pretty fast A+/A lobbies so I guess from my perspective, this combo is scaring people away. The option to save my replay at the end of the race disappeared so my memory is a little sparse.

I improved my QT to 1:43.4 and started P13/20 in the Autech. Lobby was mostly DR A with a few A+ and B. From races before, I noticed most were pitting halfway so I've been following the same strategy which seems logical, tyres start to drop off during the last few laps. I usually pit on Lap 7 or one lap later/earlier depending if I'm in traffic.

A clean race overall and I was in front and behind someone within 0.5 - 1 seconds for most of the way. I was kinda proud of my clean place gain at the last corner by hugging it tighter and earlier than the driver in front. Other places were gained by a few people spinning out and serving penalties.

The last 3 - 4 laps were by far the most intense since having an A+ on my butt was intimidating. I managed to stay within him by half a second or so except on the last lap, I conceded my position at T2 since he was almost right beside me at my inner side and nor did I want to cause drama, especially on the last lap. I'm pleased with 7th place given how competitive the lobby was.

One thing that's important with GT Sport is that you cannot get angry. It ruins it for oneself and also would for others. If people are getting angry, that's not healthy and its then time to stop racing and either go qualifying, have a race game and earn some money and experience points or do something else. Don't play GTS if it makes you angry, perspective is important, it should be fun, despite the unfairness of the people and the game itself.

I have some sort of problem with my setup and perhaps its some sort of electrical interference ... I contacted support and I have to send them a video. My brakes keep coming on. On my #2 account my qualifying K' speed score was 82.6 but since I am not driving and my qualification was a few laps with the brakes on, its going to fall a heap I reckon, which is a shame - but then it only effects my ego. The brake being on problem has been with me even last week so I look forward to fixing it.

Its also been amazing how a tiny amount of brakes makes to a car's handling. The Lexus was incredibly stable at Bathurst with the brakes on a little bit. With them off it felt quite different. But with the brakes come on and off and having them on under full acceleration does not help on straights, and instead of driving I have found I am mostly watching the ABS brake light ...

I thought it was a real driving simulator, though.

It's a game but I think it's a bit more than that to me and I imagine a lot of other people.
I had a problem with one Australian last week, you was punting me off. He went back and outqualified me, then let me through at the first corner at Brands - and then punted me off. He never got a penalty so he was good at it.

I stopped racing and then I realised that my issue was I was too slow. If I'd been quick then he could not have punted me. Eventually we all reach our speed limits and there are always people that are faster. And if a faster driver skilfully punts you out - well unfortunately that is what is designed into the game.

PD regards crashing into others as a major asset of the game. Otherwise they'd put in ways to stop drivers doing it. As many have mentioned, if the pits were used instead of a stop zone, many unfair recovery from penalty incidents would be removed from the game. But PD want those incidents. Just like in a shoot 'em up game, PD wants crashes and luck to pay a major part of their game.

After the terrible FIA race on Wednesday night I've taken two days off from the game. (well, besides livery editor) I've just decided that I'm not going to try too hard at qualifying now, maybe start in the back and try to pick people off one at a time. Don't really care anymore. :p

Race #31: Race B, qualified 4th with the number 14. Started getting more regular 2:14 lap times in time trial, even beat my best time by 7 hundreds of a second just before the end of the session. Another good race - I guess that's what happens when I put in the time to practice. Halfway through the first lap, I avoided two cars in front of me that crashed into the left wall just before the dipper. Finished 2nd, between two Argentinians. SR is now 99, halfway through DR B.

Some people just have no clue. 3 races in a row a drafting Lancer keeps bumping me from behind to create an opening and give me SR Down, He calls it fair racing. The penalty system gives him thumbs up. He better not be in the next race...

Next race, he's not there, I start second and get dive bombed by a Brazilian in a Megane. I get SR Down since he cut the corner before hitting me, makes sense. I drop to 8th in the sand, make it back to 5th with the fastest lap. SR.C is hell.

I checked the profile of that dirty Lancer driver, yep up down up down, nearly weekly resets. It looks like another ambitious driver that has given up on driving fair and now just bumps his way to victories using the penalty system to win.

I can kinda feel this fella. You get to a point, and you realize you’re getting bent over at times...tbh for me going further and investing more time can be quite frustrating. It’s frustrating to invest effort and get beat by dirty drivers, and if your temper flares....
For me I believe I have peaked at this point. I’m not prepared to learn to game the system or put in more time which is required. I just enjoy a good race.
A good race can be a no stop on c building sr back to be able to start against good competition.
Like I was 14 in region one combo and was disrespected hard in race by pole sitter starting in reverse. He was faster, but I beat everyone else over the course of several entries in that n100 combo. The polesitter was a douche.
I had fun there, but was treated like ASS and it was apparent it was a gaming environment in which gamers value points over people.
One serious player ragged on me in chat after being unable to overtake.
For me I understand a player who did things right and then started falling victim to gamers.
I could see going dirty.
I’ve done it twice, but anymore it’s not worth it, because you get punished by having to race alone in front and also farm back.
I’ll never put in enough time to be able to effectively game the pens, so I’ll just continue to enjoy the battle.
I’d rather let gamers do the dirty thing.
I ain’t got time for that.
I stand by that racing in last or midpack in a clean battle is awesome. Winning by beating the lesser or driving alone isn’t as fun for me.

I thought it was a real driving simulator, though.

Yeah, that's marketing ;). GT is a simcade, always been (that's why I play it!). But it's still a game regardless.

Besides, going by the sim argument: if the expectation of unruly retribution by a medieval Islamic maxim such as "eye for an eye" is your idea of racing, then brother, I don't want to be racing you in the first place.

Finally had a pole position that led to my second overall win- I wish I could do it another car than the Megane, but I haven't gotten the Esses down to where I feel comfortable rolling out online in a FR (my beloved RC F). I'd just wind up clogging those corners and ruining people's days. Better to stay in the tried and true and race more clean than to drag others into what is essentially my practice laps. FF just isn't as fun....

Anyway- the lobby was good in the top quarter. Pretty clean racing. :gtpflag:
