This chicane exploit really annoys me... Like in order to be on the top 10 board you take this pretty seriously so your times are generally quite fast, alien like, but if you're decently fast why on earth would you think of using the exploit? It's not in-between the white lines, it's gaining an unfair advantage, it's like taking steroids in sports, you can do it but it's not right :boggled: anyway I'll only get a chance to try knock my times down the right way, between the white lines on Saturday, happy racing all!

At the bare minimum, they should really ban those people from competing in that race for that week.

No, because once you came back onto the track for the next lap you would receive your penalty. It only works in hot laps because the lap is over by the time you re enter the track and get the penalty.
I now understand why when I did a few of these races last night, someone had qualified 1.3 secs faster than me but was absolutely useless at racing through the chicane. It was another of the "number of wins leaderboard" people with a DR and SR constantly going back down to rock bottom and over 600 wins racked up. They rammed me every time I came alongside them after a better chicane exit, but eventually missed me and rammed themselves into a wall.......

I don't mean to beat a dead horse here, and I appreciate your offering of another perspective, but I am by nature, a very skeptical person. Facts and figures, black and white, with little tolerance for gray areas.
My analytical mind tells me that since they went on for about a year providing 21 distinct races every week, for me the word "can't" isn't usable in any explanation of why we aren't getting unique races 3 times a week.

Again, testing. Things just don't get made and fired off to the public. They have to go through testing to look for exploits. Not that they always find them, because...

@sturk0167 So, although yes, it is probably a tried and tested method of setting these races up, especially considering that sport mode is just GT6 Quick race with ranking added, putting things through the test department is often a problem area.

A bogged down testing department is to blame for a lot of things that the developers take the heat for.

Given that the exploits such as the chicane cheat mentioned above SHOULD be caught in testing, the fact that it isn't says that their testers are likely undermanned for some reason.

That is pretty damn pathetic/incompetent on their part. Particularly if you consider that there are 300 cars, 40-50 tracks (est.), considering the variations/ reverse tracks. There could be races with tuning allowed. Lots of different tire types, which can completely change a race. There could be races that let you bring any vehicle you want, within an N class. Day/night races.

I don't know the math on that, but I say it's at least 50,000 possible races combinations (probably way more). Assuming 50,000 is the number, even if they changed all 3 races every day, it should take 45+ years for a repeat race.

Out of ideas isn't realistic. It can only be apathy or bias. Nothing else would make sense.
Yeaah no excuses from them.

Lots of one make not used with higher N class for example or some rivalry races (random Ferrari vs Lamborghini and so on).

I would not even mind using some VGT cars (i love the Lexus, BMW and MINI).
Really a pity

Yes, I mean, theoretically, this should all be able to go into random generator to spit out events. Maybe the time constraints of trying to finish one race before the next one starts is partially to blame. Who knows?

Like, do we NEED to have provided cars for Race A all the time? Do they always have to be slow cars? Why not Miatas at Le Mans for Race C?

It sure seems VERY strange to see Suzuka so often...like WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too often. It has to fit some kind of criteria very well to be featured so much.

Or it's just some kind of nationalism.

What's an untested track doing in the game?
I'm betting the average 14 year-old could've figured out the chicane cheat in about 5 minutes.
So, since they're not actually doing any testing, throwing up some random combos shouldn't bother them.

Like you suggested, all indications point to national bias.

I know it seems like it isn't happening. When I was in the industry, it was often infuriating to have to be delayed by the testing department only to have them test completely pointless things and miss show stoppers.

Anyway, it's all conjecture. I can't say why there isn't more variety, especially when it seems like it should be a simple thing to do.

I hope they do a better job with the next iteration. Which brings me to another point about Kaz and past iterations. I was shocked that he had never gone back to see what past iterations were like. That seems really bizarre to me.

Not sure what the #1 world Daily A is doing, but #2 is doing this...

A random car/track generator would be fine with me. 👍

Someone who knows how to, should make a GT randomizer app that has all of GT’s cars/tracks/tires in it(in text form, not actually in it). So the person running the lobby could just hit the button on the app and the app comes up with a random combo. At least we’d be able to do real random lobbies. :)

Ugh, I've had a horrible day. I threw away a 4th place finish when I got snap oversteer out of the penultimate hairpin, and ended up perpendicular to the barrier with ruined rears, and barely clung onto 9th thanks to some chaos at the final hairpin.

So... I'm assuming that the chicane cut is 'common knowledge' and if you don't do it, you're an idiot and will never have a competitive QT. Well that's the wood out then. Can't be arsed with that.

Ummm... Hold my beer.

I'll see if get some time at work over the next week for an extra-curricular project, who knows!

This is an idea good enough to warrant a thread, mate.

I know someone who had a spreadsheet for this sort of thing on project cars 2, I'll see if I can get a hold of it

Wasn't Sven using some kind of random generator to pick his cars, a couple of weeks ago? Maybe he knows how.

I think he just assigned each car a number and then used a random number genny online somewhere.

As @Hasnain282 said, you can do it quite easily in a spreadsheet. It'll just take time to input all the data. You'd have to decide how detailed you'd want it. You could go class/group for cars or let it do one make races too. That's a lot more info. You could also let it choose no. Of laps/length of time. Fuel and tyre deg.

But you'd probably want to think of a veto threshold.

Or your getting 30 laps of Nurburgring 24 with x15 tyres, x15 fuel... In the Sambabus...

If I knew how to make one, I’d make it so the options included were variable, so the user can chose if they want a one make or class race, and then be able to chose which other options are taken into account for the equation, tire/fuel wear, # of laps, tire grade, starting amount of fuel, penalties, and what ever other options that would be worth adding. Then you could chose just how random you want your results. :)

Ok after the first race, deciding not to start at the back anymore, made it up to 4th just to get spun out on the last lap at the chicane lol

You should have skipped it on the last lap and just stayed off until you crossed the line, that’s the only time it would work in an actual race. :)

I gave up after 2 back starts too, it’s a fun race but it’s not long enough to start at the back. :)
