Whoops, I thought Wales was in Britain? My geography sucks as you can tell, I’ll have to fix that then.

It's part of the UK. During the battle of Agincourt, most of the archers fighting for England who caused the bulk of the damage were Welsh. It's the root of the two fingered salute :p.

Anarchy for Yamigaaaawa! It's coming tonight, definitely! I ghost in time and beat the traffic line. Your future dream is an SR scheme... And the crash fest kaos that is Race B continues. For the third night in a row I was on the same grid as a fellow Australian. Went in with the M3, ran out of time to beat my qually, but came close. The M3 feels like a rocket ****, but that might just be the engine..it sounds angry . I started P8/16, right behind the guy I manage to finish in front of in the last two races.

The horses are on the track. The bell dings and the rabbit is set loose! T1 was a fairly orderly affair, I had a great exit and was powering up the hill. Sadly all that wonderful momentum had to be reigned in cause I have too much respect for the guy I've raced these past couple of days to splash him to the four corners with the impact that could have been :scared:. Good thing too, I followed closely behind round the next corner and down the hill, then braked a little earlier for the second lot of esses. Pointed in the right direction I roared up the hill and past the shattered remains of once proud warriors... impatient, but proud. P8 to P4 in one move .

The carnage left me with a pretty reasonable gap, so I could breath.. but still had that terrified "oh crap oh crap oh crap!" feeling that things were going far too good and I was bound to strait line a corner and obliviate my hopes and dreams into a 5s penalty wall crunch. Didn't happen. But I did see the gap behind me close from 4s to 1.4s... then widen again... it was me old mate from the past couple of races :D. I kept my nerve, and coming round the final corner of the last lap I see the yellow flag/do not pass/do not collect $200 sign flash up. The car in front was perpendicular to the track with it's nose buried in the wall. So this was me:

Yeh... I was kinda shocked .

SR blue, DR up just over 1k. Another day above DR 1 :D.

Interesting stuff, thanks! That must be the reason why I can magically shoot a bow better than all my buddies who actually bow hunt! :D

Something is wrong with me this morning i guess, cuse that second race was another terrible and embarrassing outing.... at least the post race chat is understanding instead of upset with me. I hat being the problem out tbere though, i am so pissed at myself right now for those two races and the fact that i had a negative impact on others races. Through all of that i am down to sr b for the first time in a very long time, not even sure when was the last time i wasn't an s.... gonna try one more just to stay clean hopefully and get a few of the sr points back. Today is not my day i guess

I’m pretty sure that I’m closer to Europe than I am to You and @Mistah_MCA , we’re literally at opposite ends of the continent and our connection is always fine. :)

75k, there’s a number I’ll never see, well done man!! You’re a brave soul to take that account Daily Racing.

Same here, I don’t get why people seems to think a second account is for dirty bumper car racing, I always race Clean and Fair, regardless of which account I’m racing on.

I’m gonna make an EU account tonight I think, so I’ll find out for us. What Country should I be from, Britain? I think my family is Welsh originally, what country is that? :)

You can join us every Saturday evening, we all get together and do 2 runs of each of that weeks Daily races and then a few Bonus races afterwards, it’s always a good clean time. Hopefully I’m be roaming GTS EU soon though.

I’m really glad you’re enjoying it man, I hope it’s helpful to you!!

We can do this man, I passed @TRL LIGHTNING once!! :D

That counts, right?

Need to admit my defeat here xD

Was going to stay away this week. Q times are really poor, just not able to get enough game time. Done a couple of C races Monday and was abused all over the track, sly moves though people leaning on me just enough do dip my wheels on the grass. Either that of waiting behind people at the start and just getting smashed from like 5 cars behind :/

Decided to go for one race last night, didn’t fancy my chances and even used a pad!
4th on the grid, all clean the first lap top 5 broke from the pack. I was pretty content in 3rd for a few laps just watching the others fight then 1st sends himself so I push on chasing second. I was way quicker through the last chicane, I knew this from the previous laps so waited and took the brave outside line on the last corner into the straight, cringing waiting to be pushed wide be the guy was racing well. Ended up with a 6 or 7 second lead but really lost my focus last lap, walked away 1.5 seconds for the win. Restored my faith a little but not really feeling the races this week.

Tanked my DR completely, and decided race C is NOT for me at. Dead last almost every attempt- I'm not sure what the kryptonite is. So I switched to race B and GOD I LOVE YAMAGIWA. The full track isn't as fun for me because the chicane where it connects is so much more fun than the hairpins that are otherwise there. Maybe I suck at race C because I'm so spoiled by Gr3 cars- I'm not being patient enough with the Miata.

It's another Gr3 week for me! 👍

Sometimes the simple things make all the difference. I changed the colour i was using on the 930 lol

Had a clean ish race. i got a wall penalty when i almost lost it completly, but manged to only just love tap the wall with the back end. Lost lots of time and a position. Not good enough says pd, 5 second wall collision penalty. Still got my sr back into the A and generally had a good race for the lead and a second place finish, so i went again...

Saw sven in the next race and had a solid run and good battle for position up front for the whole race. Ended up in 3rd after nearly blowing it off the hairpin on the last lap and a few other in front made their own mistakes... good enough to want to go again. Gotta go to work soon, but i am finally in my groove booooo

Thank you, Sven. I'm a bit ignorant on the subject. I'm don't really know what those numbers mean. It looks like the lower the number, the better the connection? So the number between Los Angeles and Brasilia is 185, and the number between Los Angeles and Tokyo is 107. I don't really see laggy cars on the track very often. So, if the Brazilians in my races are connected well with me, then does that mean that I would likely connect well with the Japanese?

Yes, the numbers are milliseconds between 2 high speed servers in various towns. Your own ping will be a bit higher. Ping is two way though so it's only half the time for your data to arrive on the other console or vice versa.

So if it's 185ms between LA and Brasilia, add another 15 ms on avg from home to the server on both ends (if both live in those cities), making it 215, which means a 107ms trip time for your telemetry to arrive at the other client. That's just over 1/10th of a second, or 3 meter difference at 65 mph, 6 meter difference at 130 mph. That's not too bad when all is stable, however add some jitter (varying ping time, sometimes faster, sometimes slower) and your car will start moving oddly on the other client.

What you see on screen is all forward predictions of the other cars based on data that arrives late. It looks real time but it's a huge puzzle of forward predicting all cars to your time frame.

Similar ping doesn't always mean similar experience as the number of hops determines the stability. You might actually fare better against Japan as it's just one long fibre cable while to Brazil it's many hops over land.

Sven, thanks for the information. That really helps to put the connection issues into perspective.

I think I understand it a little better, now. Allow me to test my newfound comprehension. This is a picture I took from a replay of a race I did a long time ago (Challenger/Big Willow).

This incident happened because one car was skipping and jittering around, then in an instant shot forward about 50 meters and smashed into a group of cars (impact looked like 300 mph). So if I am understanding correctly, his input data was arriving at the server slowly, and the game was trying to predict where he was, and it was wrong. But when the game received his actual data, it advanced his car's position on the track to the spot where he really was. Am I close?

Yep. I also suspect the data packets are not time coded in GTS. Those extreme cases only make sense when data packets arrive out of order without the other client correctly re-ordering them. Cars should never jump back and forward that much if all the data packets are time stamped so the client can better calculate where the car should be.

But maybe when the internet burps and data starts arriving out of order it messes up the prediction algorithms even with time stamped data. For example it first receives a packet that says car is at 50 meters, then a packet that says car is at 60 meters and then at 40 meters from a corner. The first one that arrived should have been packet nr 2 and the game should simply ignore the second packet that arrived that's now too old. But it seems the game tries to use it to correct the car's position then shoots it forwards when packet nr 3 arrives.

There's more data in those packets of course. The easiest thing you see is that brake lights turn on late and cars jump back a bit at the braking zone. Your client still has them at full speed until the first brake data arrives (late). Same while accelerating out of a corner, the throttle info arrives late and the car in front of you seems to stall a bit at the apex to then suddenly speed away.

Thanks, again for the education. I can't believe it took me so long to try to figure that stuff out. The game is bad with predictions. I've seen a few times where the game thinks the other car went completely off the track, and I think I'll get an easy pass, then car ends up back in front of me, right in the middle of the track, perfectly fine. :boggled:

Had one more race that was another mixed bag and some b.s. from pd. I had a great race for 2 with a guy for three laps till i somehow lost it in the tunnel esses at the end of the back section. Went completly around tagging the wall with the front and the back, before i the game reset me on track and gave me 10 seconds in wall collision penalties.... after that i went into try some hot laps and managed to do this

I'll be chasing that 52.5xx for the rest of the week now lol

I also think that this is the main reason for the slow side-by-side banging doors on the straights when overtaking. A lot of corner bumping and slipstream bumping could very well be this and not deliberately.

Yep, that's why race A is Tokyo spark way. Info arrives late, cars go wide along the wall, lots of sparks but they're not losing speed nor getting a penalty. Chances are they didn't scrape the wall at all. And indeed if there is a gap in the data (lag spike) then the game grinds those cars into the wall or grass to a halt until they suddenly reset back in front of you. Centripetal force in action, steering info missing, car goes straight. It would be better if the game assumes people try to stay on the road, although that's usually an incorrect assumption in the backfield

If all cars move oddly, it's your connection. If it's one or two moving oddly, it's theirs. The worst are those quantum cars that drive in multiple lanes at the same time. Saw tooth cornering.

My connection sometimes has issues as well. It's fine 99% of the time but sometimes there's this weird hick up where all cars suddenly simultaneously move sideways a couple feet. Must be a sudden delay in my downstream data. I've had races where it seemed to be on a timer, every few seconds, everyone shimmy to the left, then shimmy back to the right. Hypnotic

Gonna go ahead and apologize ahead of time in case we end up matched and you see a car that is lagging all over the place.

@Pigems Rain with the Porsche 930 on N24 with Comfort Soft confirmed next daily race!

I’ll be unconfirmed for that race then! :D

I haven’t even done a single lap of the current Porsche TT, I’m not into the classic Ice Dancing style of driving that PD seems to love. In fact, seeing them go back to those kinds of combos makes me believe even more so now that Toyota was the main reason for all the added grip in 1.39 and beyond because of how hard the Supra was to drive, that couldn’t have looked good on the new 100k Supra that’s about to be released(that GTS is supposed to be advertising for them).

That Porsche is quite addictive to drive. I should not forget to try it on the Nord before the time trial closes. Tokyo has been fun so far. Still no victory but plenty second places from the back, best one yet:

I also managed to improve my best lap time without drafting. Odd split lobby where I had all the room to drive after getting a 5 sec penalty in the backfield massacre.

Such great matchmaking!

I made a little reel of Tokyo pain, so easy to get a penalty.

So hard to gain SR, so easy to lose. DR still going up, SR at 99 but can be back at SR.A in one race.

Since you’re here, do you have any tips/advice for getting the last second out of Gr3 cars? For the life of me I just can’t seem to figure it out, it’s my worst category and it drives me nuts. Thanks in advance for any and all info! Good luck in the next WT Event!
Pretty sure he's only here because we were talking about free cookies before. :sly:

I am bad at teaching / explaining but i will give it a try ^^`. With the gr3 it's important to know how each car behaves in general like does it tend to oversteer / understeer, when i shift down early does the rear then slip off suddenly or not, braking, acceleration, turning, etc. With the fia settings like with tyre wear and fuel consumption it's important to try and drive as smooth as possible on the first couple of laps so you have better tyres towards the end of the race if it's a 0 stop race.
When i mentioned about the braking the brake balance also takes an important role as to save tyres. If you have a MR car then it's better to put the brake balance more to the front. With the FR cars it depends.
