Race C is absolutely awful, due to appauling driving standards. Full race of SR S drivers, and people are driving like imbiciles - smashed off track time and time again. Race B is the absolute opposite - some excellent races.

RAce B for me for the rest of the week.

And this is a perfect example of why I am no longer obsessed with my SR Rating. It doesn't matter what level you are, it's a dirty race. Unless you're on Pole, you simply can't get away from it. And if you start in the back, you have to weave your way through it. And starting in the middle of the pack? Forget about it. It's bumper cars.

I'm hoping to get online at some point this week. I managed Monday/Tuesday last week and that turned out to be it in the end. Which annoyed me. That's what happened last time Autopolis was on too. I had good results and lots of potential and only managed 5-6 races! God-damned-life, huh!

All joking aside, I was looking forward to the Seaside this week, but please don't tell me its a no-stopper only. I'm not sure I can be bothered with that rubbish and I'm damned if I'm going back to Maggiore again.

If there's a competitive balls to the wall and stop strategy at play then I'm in, but I've got better things to do than to drive economically for 20 minutes at a time. I do that enough to and from work everyday.

Got the MX5 down to a 5.8 so far, just need to get T1 and T3 sorted out and I should be able to hit a .7 or less, Optimal is .707 right now. :)

Now to take the Lambo out for a jont around DT, it’s been a while since this car was worth driving. I’m Stoked! :D

I'm down to 1:06.549 for Race A, and I got BB set to 3 towards the rear with TCS off. Is it mostly up to my driving line at this point, or was there a better combination for TCS & BB? I've also noticed that there's a subtle need for throttle control in this car, which is neat, because it's not an obvious need like with the 930, but it definitely helps in preventing sliding when exiting corners. Otherwise, I'd say driving this car is pretty fun.

I do wonder if it'd help if all ranked races (both daily and championships) had light damage enabled with realistic slipstream & traction loss off-road, and even with fuel/tire use set to 1x? I know that those latter two are so for races involving the "staple" groups, but I think it'd be better if all Sport Mode races were like that. On top of this, I think we should examine iRacing's race lengths for inspiration, as I think it'd help if some races were longer; we could also be inspired by how iRacing handles tire/fuel consumption rates. That way, qualifying would still have a major role, but the races would be long enough insofar that they'd offer a window for some players that are otherwise faster to make mistakes, and thus for the slower players to potentially benefit accordingly. I mean, five laps at Tsukuba in what's basically a Time Attack car is nice, but it does go by pretty quickly.

And finally, I really would prefer it if we could have the camera follow our car when entering the pits. I think that one reason why sometimes the length varies to get to the pit crew, is because your car is both slowing down to the pit lane's speed limit, and potentially further slowing down (albeit for just a moment) if cars exiting the pits end up pulling out in front of it, much like when you exit the pits during practice or for the qualifying outlap in championship races. I'd also like to be able to view some scenarios in photomode, such as when all the cars are in the pits. Or just before the race begins, like during the countdown, if that's not an option already.

EDIT: Should I also really get a racing wheel, or is the idea of "driving better only when you have a wheel" just a meme? I also play my PS4 from my couch, so idk what I'd mount this thing to, unless I got one of those racing seats alongside it, too.

I'm ready for the Daily Rotation. These aces have run their course, I have a feeling next Gr.4 race, is at Interlagos.

I'll be avoiding that combo.

Not inspired to play gts this week at all. The new miata has been showcased three weeks in a row, and since it is completely neutered by bop and no fun to drive for the most part i dont have much of an itch to try around tsukuba. I really am starting to hate that track...

Makes me glad that I avoided the offline Miata class of races so that I can nuke the AI. 👍

But hey, let me cheer everyone up with some shenanigans from Catalunya last week.

I share your feelings :gtpflag:

I really like Maggiore GP so I think I'll take a look. On the other hand, I think Dragon Trail Seaside would be greatly improved as a track design if the first chicane in the typical layout's bus stop (as opposed to II/reverse) was removed. The track only having that latter chicane would improve both the regular and II layouts, IMO.

I dont know what makes people driving these mx5s more different than the ones before. Now everyone thinks diving your inside and riding your door panel pushing against you is clean good driving.

Tried the fuel economy and cautious thing with the Atenza. Grabbed the SLS, M4, Mustang, Vantage, F-Type, Cayman and McLaren for some "GT4" stabs at DTS. See how we go. Went 0.5 seconds quicker than I did in the Megane, Starting 2nd, but going flat out no matter what my fuel is.

Got the Lambo down to a 46.2 at Seaside so far, there’s still a few bigger fudges in that lap though. If you get the line right you barely have to lift at all for the bus stop, with a perfect line a no lift is probably doable. Using +3 on the BB right now, I effing love this car!! :D

I use +4. I was using +3 to get 47.5. When I switched to to +4 I got 46.9

Like someone mentioned about the V8s, they can nearly go flatout through the chicane. About more than half throttle at the middle of the short bustop straight, full throttle at the start, middle and end of the exit.

No playing around. Pole did crash at the bustop, but full throttle like Charlie's Angels. The 2nd place NSX no stopped. The 3rd place NSX leap frogged me at pit exit, but was blocking and nearly offed the other NSX. It eventually crashed at the exit of the chicane. Nearly took me out as I went by without it ghosting.

I quite like the challenge that the chicane brings to the circuit. I kinda wish we had a small escape area on the right side of it, so that cuts a little too wide would be punished by 0.5s penalties, instead of a racecar bowling strike. At least we have ghosting (sometimes).

Nice- I need an excuse to get in the Lambo. I've been so invested in RC F and Vantage, now would be a good time to go MR.

Edit: I'm consistently 3-4 secs behind you on QT, so I predict a 1:49.5 by the end of tonight.

Either they realize they have to make C longer, or we need a "Daily D" with 30 mins. The way it is now, C is just pointless. A and B are already comically short, so why Race C is as well?

Can’t figure out the strategy for race C. Have tried the no stop and had to pit on lap 9..

Have tried pitting and I get stuck all the way down the field.

Have started 4th a few times and once on pole and I always end up outside the top 10 🤬:banghead:

Yeah, maybe they could remove the solid fences that run around each chicane, and make them more like the chicanes at Monza, or put a gravel trap on the inside of them.

Looks like I'm done running Q times for now.

A- 1:05.751, BB +1

B- 1:55.981, AMG GT3, BB +1 (FINALLY, a 1:55 lol)

C- 1:45.976, Mustang Gr. 4, BB +1

@Bivittavus88 please do it :D

Why set BB at +1? Isn't it usually better to do +2 or +3? I mean, I always set BB all the way forward in the N-series Porsches, FWIW, but otherwise, I usually set it at +3 for trail-braking, with potential exceptions depending on the track.

Race A - Logged on around midday and got thrown into a grid full of A+ and S drivers apparently still busy setting times
Was shocked to still see some very dirty driving and shoving each other around. Gained two places, left it alone after that, Tsukuba only seems fun when racing very slow cars like the Mini Cooper etc. The neutered (again...) Miata TC did not feel right around there, especially with stock car like behaviour from the grid.

Race B - A mixed bag...Did around 30 quali laps trying to make the Supra work, but just couldn't
get it quite right. May be me, may be that I'm using a DS4, I don't know. Switched back to me trusty AMG. Racing was a bit chaotic at times, took me a few attempts to get a satisfying run in.

Race C - A combo I like! Judging from the races I've taken part in the no-stop only seemed to
work if some front-runners faltered or enough others followed suit. Otherwise the ones taking a pit stop caught up with them at the end. I got the best results using the RC F, stopping on lap 5 for fuel and tires and giving it everything. No need to overthink this one.

I mean honestly, if Sport Mode is really serious about being accessible, I'd have it so that tuning BB/TCS/fuel mapping is included when tuning is otherwise disabled, as well as modifying power/weight to make an N-series car eligible for another N-class. (Tbh I'd just use varying selections of provided cars for all Sport Mode races, while garage cars could be used in lobbies.) I'd also have light damage always on, as a further incentive for clean racing but not to make damage a complete show-stopper. I'd also make each race long enough insofar that even the pole-sitter could make a mistake. As far as qualifying goes, I'd have it be a bit like the championships, in that you'd qualify right before each race. For the sake of time, the qualifying session would be time-based, being 10mins.

I'd also design each daily/weekly race so that there'd be roughly 20mins between races as there is now, but each race is increased in length a bit, with Races A, B, and C respectively being around 20mins, 40mins, and 60mins. I mean, this week's Race A is going to typically be only around five and a half minutes in length - no time at all for anybody to make a serious mistake. A longer duration in itself may also be a better incentive for clean racing, as ideally, more players wouldn't be in a mad frenzy to get ahead in the short time they have on the track.

As an aside, I'd also have exp/credit payouts in Sport Mode be similarly-linked as the points are in championship races, being based on your DR compared to the DR of the field. This is opposed to having it be based on the vehicle being used, where Gr.1 races offer much more than say, N200. For the credit payout, I'd take the points you'd be hypothetically earning if it were a championship race, then multiply it by fifty.

Speaking for all 3 daily races this week, +2 and +3 felt a bit excessive for me, so I stuck at +1. Kinda goes with my driving style (for now).

Ah, so would you say that BB settings are a personal preference, but with a more solid trend, such as putting it all the way forward for the Porsche models, and/or moving it back a little for FF models?

All 3 Races this week are awesome. i got a job 2 weeks ago cutting grass 5 days a week like 7-5 every day so i cant race as much and havent been keeping up with the thread. Just did Race B no qualy and went from 13th to 6th in the M6 lol. gonna have to squeeze in as many races as i can. fun stuff this week. Gonna have to make sure im home saturday at 9 ;)

Did a few laps on each race. Tried a Race A this morning. Already forgot the results. it was clean and I moved up.... that's all I remember.

Anyways I took about 20 laps to see if I could hop up to 4th gear on the final turn as opposed to staying in 3rd. And couldn't get the same times no matter how many ways I tried it. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one. :odd:

Race A is a lost cause, i see why Suzuka was the choice 2 weeks ago. Got taken out by an upsetti spaghetti who already had a 5 second penalty while i was leading. People just either dive and get away with it or drop like a rock, no one can race clean and no one can overtake.

And yes this was an S lobby.
