Met up with Neville at Interlagos again tonight, got sent to the darkest depths of the shadow realm by an overzealous (imo) Porsche tho.

Whole race was a mess. P3 to p12 were separated by 4 tenths I qualifying, so were all tight on pace. I made a tiny error early and that put me in the clutches of the mob and I fell from p6 to p12.

I decide its too nust and go for undercut at end of lap 4. It works, but I end up with you and those two porsches. One was ok, the other too brave and all three of us made contact, partially my fault as I should have bailed.

Undercut did work, should have finished 7th but made another small error and was mobbed on sick tyres to finish 10th but everyone was driving like a maniac.

SRS is usually really good but once in a while everyone says eff it, I can spare some SR and its elbows out. Including me I guess.

I think all of us own a bit of blame; I haven't watched the replay yet but I distinctly remember being on the apex of T4 with a Porsche on the grass driving into my rear 1/4 panel, going to blame that driver the most.

Well I've watched the replay now and the Porsche coming out of the pits definitely could've done better to avoid making you swerve all over, and the Porsche behind me drove up the inside of the inside line for absolutely no reason and sent me full on into the Porsche coming out of the pits. Just absolutely infuriating driving by supposed SR S drivers.

Hey guys (slightly) long time lurker, first time poster.

Tell you what, as much as I love Interlagos as a layout it can get incredibly infuriating to race on. Most corners from the Senna S, through the second sector just encourage the car behind to try and stick the nose in and dive-bomb. Can't count on my hands how many times I've overtaken someone ~1sec a lap slower just for them to stick the nose in a corner later, tap my rear and sending me squirming for grip. Also taking defensive lines severely affects lap time. Totally compromises races as it becomes difficult to build gaps. Race C is very much a qual well, clean air = reasonable result for me.

Here’s my Suzuka lap in the Gr.4 Mustang, 2:08.615. I tried the Megane Trophy for a bit, but was faster in this beast.

Thanks for posting this. I saved the replay of the race you won last night and noticed you staying in 4th through the esses as I was alternating between 3rd & 4th. Also you take Casio in 3rd and I was dropping to 2nd. Going to have to try to bring that time down.

I figure I better get as much racing in as possible before the weekend. I'm right in the path of Dorian and I may be without power for a while. Hopefully I still have a home to play in. :nervous:

About 100 laps in on the new controller setup, beginning to feel natural. If I get enough laps in today and tomorrow I may feel confident enough to inflict my new setup and the inevitable errors on the Asia server on Sunday. Anyone racing there in the next week, please forgive Fudsy27 any random braking or slow acceleration out of corners... you'll most likely see me mixed up with the DR B/C/D drivers in race B (I really like Suzuka, despite the fact it's often not kind to me).

What is the DR penalty difference between leaving a race and finishing dead last?

Had the worst race of my life tonight on Suzuka with the Megane. Spun out at least five times and ended up in 15th (one person left) with a 34s gap to 14th and a 1:31s gap to the leader. It was excruciating, but I stayed in the race to avoid the leaver penalty. Wondering if it would’ve been better to just bail.

I wanted that Fastest Laps achievement done with so I went ahead and entered the 7:30am lobby for race C, after improving my Q time by a whole millisecond in the AMG. I was actually surprised to see a 17 player lobby at this time. It consisted of me, one A guy, 13 Bs and two Cs. I ran away with the W no-stopping, while setting the fuel map to 1 for lap 2 to clock a 1:31.925 and complete the achievement  I got a staggering 66 DR for my efforts.

@Sven Jurgens is the expert here I'm pretty sure, but my guess is that you're generally better off staying, because even if you finish last you're still classified higher than those who quit. :)

Finally nailing Race C with no pit. 18:53.928 in my last win in a A dominant lobby. Just been able to get a bette feel with my trail breaking giving little chance to get past and saving my tires.
18:51.263 just now. Persevering finally pays off after a roller coaster day lol. AMG BB-1 no pit is now what gets me the most comfortable. Revving in the middle most of the time and sometimes getting to 6 early on the straight if no one behind me. Doin mostly mid 1.33.00 for 8-9 laps then 1.34.00s in the last few laps.

I tried to recoup some SR at Interlagos, thinking the longer race would help.

LOLNOPE. Got punted off at Descida da Lago by some arsehole in a Red Bull-liveried Aston and ended up playing ping-pong with midfield scrubs who are less trustworthy than a Brazilian farmer with napalm. To top it all off, that cheating Aston finished 2nd while I was down in 7th. Guess I'll be taking a break from this bollocks.

So what is the optimal strategy for race C now with the faster pit stops? Should you pit or not?
I managed 18:48 in the AMG without a stop, but pretty sure I was going to get caught until the guy behind me binned it a couple of laps before the end.
Atenza is the answer. Not Miata. ;) Seriously, the tyre consistency is the best form start to finish. I can push for that last 3 laps when others are tip toeing. It just doesn't have the top speed.

So what’s the best car to race on C? Is it the AMG? I was thinking about trying the NSX tonight.

Wauw, had 11 races today @suzuka. Results are: 7 wins and 4 second places. 3 Wins where i beat an A+ in an 458. I drove the Jag. Happy for today!!!

Just wanted to try my .09.4 @suzuka. Time set monday. Well, that said, i almost can't get it under .10 now. Is it me or does anybody feels the same? Could it be the update? ...Strange!

To Quote Colonel Kurtz: "The Horror, The Horror!!"
Tried racing in Asia (my zone) on a friday night. Dear god. Got punted trying to pass someone who had run off track in the esses first lap at suzuka, nope, while he was back on the racing line, but driving slow he turned straight OUT into me to punt me wide. When I reset was 6 seconds behind field. Yeah, that was it, 1000 DR lost, but SR ok. go back to Interlagos with 'Emily.' I can't imagine a more impatient race. I may have lost more SR at Dragon Tail last week but I don't think I had more than one clean lap until after I was finally punted to dead last. so it cost me 18 SR, and another 1100 DR for good measure.
Got a solid race in after that, but was in a low lobby so tried the 1 stop with a minor fuel saving mix. Worked well. Then came disaster. A winged demon descended and made my race hell. Punted me wide to pass, the couple of times I tried to pass clean they just kept smashing into me to keep me from passing. At the end I snapped and made sure they didn't finish high, damn the penalties involved. In the end I lost 15 SR for the race, but do have a mystery SR down mixed in the video if anyone can explain it. EDIT: (Just rewatched the video, 2 SR Down issues, the first passing the ghosted car, the second into the pit?)
Anywho, despite all that I did figure out that with most crowds at my level the 1 stop works better and is faster to eliminate punting and dealing with impatient drivers on fresh tires. Actually in the 1 clean 1 stop race I had I dropped my race time by 5 seconds, so probably a better choice anyway. Did end up down 800 DR, but mostly pissed about losing 30 SR. It appears wreckfest is running hot already.

Apparently I still suck at Interlagos. Must have done 100 laps over the past couple days. Still can't get under 1:32.1. Mehh. I suppose we all have bogey tracks.

On the other hand, 2:09.108 at Suzuka would put me nicely inside the EMEA top 500, and I'm 99.99% sure I can hit a 2:08, if I can nail Spoon, and the exit from Casio.

May have to log into my Euro account after work, tomorrow.

Some penalties are so stupid you have to laugh.

I knew exactly what was gonna happen there. A guy did that to me in T1 at Fuji. Except he didn't even spin. Just drove off into the distance. I got 3s. Well done PD. Now I don't play Sport mode as much as I used to anymore. Don't know why.

Pitstop loss is around 10-12 second depending on how much fuel you need to take on

If you had a clear track then both strats would very close but 1 stop possibly edge it. However in reality when you stop you have to pass people and given most folk will defend as if life matter on it despite being 2 seconds a lap slower you will end up slower.

Iv been trying 1 stops for giggles. In one race I caught a driver by 2 seconds over a lap who then defended savagely and id say unfairly for 2 laps costing themselves(and me) god knows how much time before i passed around outside of turn 1, I'm way too kind in these situation.

However the net result for the defending driver was that he ultimately lost position to me and their antic ment several cars had closed down a 4 second gap and they had ruined their tyres defending me, meaning by end of race they lost another 4-5 position as those drivers were clearly less kind lol

Just unintelligent driving on their part

Did you make sure you had mediums on? I fought with it last night only to find out I was running Hards in Q. :)

Yep. Always make sure I'm on the softest possible compound. I'm just terrible at the circuit.

Edit. That being said, 1:32.1xx is almost a full second faster than I've ever been around there in a Gr.3 car.

I did an 18:40 with the Atenza Gr3 no-stopping. I didn't try 1-stopping but I very much doubt it will be faster.

The Atenza is solid but I think there are better options.

Not sure about the pit, but I've lost SR several times running through a ghosted car. So far it seems to me that it happens if you make no attempt at all to miss the ghost. It doesn't happen if there's even the slightest steering input to one or the other side.
Having had that happen to me, I'll always try to serve a penalty line the racing line if there's no-one in the way to prevent the same thing happening to others.
