It is a shame that all drivers in the field were SR S. If that's S, what's going on in races with worse grading?

I tend to find SR:A lobbies to very clean, at DR:B. Mainly because people seem to be obsessed with that S SR. Once they get bumped down to A, they race clean for the race or two it takes to get back up to S.

DR points roller coaster last night!

After getting back to SR-S AND bringing my qualy down to 32.11 was paired with A A+ DRs... starting 19th, 14th etc

SUMMARY: first 2 races lost 1K points; ended up regaining 800 points on third race!

On the quest for DR A, unless I screw up, I can smell it! ;)

Coming alive. Unsettled, defined. Majestic in his crime. The curtain calls and welcome to the carnival! Third spin of the wheel and again its a 1 stopper, this time with the Love Bug. Beat my qualy time originally set with the Supra (there seemed to be a lot of Supras in Race Cs). That had me starting P10/17 on a grid with mostly DR/Ds, but again there was a minor invasion of DR/B with a lone A on pole and a stray C who wandered in off the street.

Yes! You can win the race on the first corner on the first lap! That is... if you are on pole and manage to survive still in front... otherwise, all bets are off :scared:. I managed to survive, but not before getting pushed aside by someone behind who cam streaking in from the inside. I'm assuming from his line that he was aiming for the wall on the other side of the kitty litter :banghead:. Yanno... other cars make wonderful guard rails . From there is was all about staying on the track. I was fangin it around the corners, planting it as soon as I thought I could rudder the rear end and not snow plough into understeer world (and those bloody understeer sign boards don't friggin help none! ). Got up to P7 when I pitted on lap 7.

I could have gotten more mileage out of the tyres and fuel, but I was always planning on pitting lap 7 from the beginning. Auto drive spat me out the other end in P11. I spent the rest of the race trading places with a fellow Aussie who started P14. I think he may have been double stinting the tyres, because where I was passing him was due to him loosing grip and going wide... passed him three times at Juncao. When I passed the final time I pulled a 2s lead and kept him off. we passed another car who had become a cropper at Subida dos Boxes and in the end I finished P9.

My post race comment to the other Aussie was "Almost!". He thanked me for a clean race, which was nice... there was a few times I had to ease off so I didn't rear end him. I tend to brake earlier than normal with a car in front cause I'm always worried that their brakes are better than mine.

The DR/Bs and A helped with the points spread, so even though I wasn't in the top half, I still managed to be in for some points.. a couple of hundred to be more accurate. SR was blue 👍. Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.

Yes! Great pass at the end! My tires were completely shot in the last 2 laps. Seemed like I couldn't nurse them while battling with the Mexicans.

Thanks! Wasn’t it crazy how many GTMX players were on last night? I had mostly clean encounters but I actually saw a few of them get dirty with each other, lol, but could have been by accident.

Can't believe you started from the back. Makes me feel I've got a lot to improve

It’s all relative. All I gotta do is join an FIA race to find a bunch of guys who are 1-2s faster than me. I learn from them, some may learn from me, and we all get better. Daily races are good practice for me now, and many of them still go very wrong, or other people just have better races overall and there’s not much to capitalize on. The videos I post are when things happen to go well. Starting in the back in a fuel saving race has its advantages too, it’s almost better than starting in the middle.

Very wise. It's what sets us apart from the rammers of the world. If I'm following in close proximity and the pass isn't on then I'm lifting a coasting before we get anywhere near the braking point. At the very least I'm slow in and fast out, and we aren't running the risk of contact...

Having said that, I've found recently some people brake really, really early when they are under pressure. Normally you'd say they were brake checking, but I honestly don't think it's that sinister at our end, its just a case of being conservative.

"I'm under pressure from the guy behind, so I don't wanna mess up this corner and give him the advantage so I'll make sure I'm slowed down nice and early so that I make it and, oh crap, I've hit the anchors so far in advance of the braking zone that the guy behind doesn't stand a chance of not hittng me!"

If you're not great at keeping the mediums alive, I'd recommend the hards, and just splash and dash for fuel.
I'd avoid the hards at all costs. The Lambo slides all over the place on them. I think I was a couple of seconds slower and because of the sliding they wore just as quickly.

With any other car there isn't much between 0 and 1 stop.

Badly outnumbered!
The Japanese don't sleep.
So far, in the limited number of races I've done on my Australian account, the racing has been a lot cleaner than on the NA server.

So I’ve tried at least a half dozen cars at Suzuka this afternoon and they all feel extra/extremely Understeery today? I can’t even sniff my time from the last time this combo came up, it’s a bit confusing.

Latest grip model a few months back had more throttle understeer, is that it?

Naw, it seems worse today than ever before. I was down to an 8.4 in the RCF last time and I can’t even get under a 2:10.5 right now. Coming out of the Esses to go up the hill the cars just drive right off the outside, even with lifting and +BB. It’s driving me nuts right now, even the 4C is US’ing right off the track lol.

i did notice that at interlagos, the Aston was the best car for me as it had JUST enough slip on the gas to enable rotation. But after that update, it understeers too much now and the merc is the better car whereas before it had a touch too much slip.

Well, Race C is absolute trash today.
Tried a no-stop in the AMG. Got punted off twice, one of which was deemed my fault (?!?!) Finished 17th. Lost 1200 DR.
Second race, I decided I'd one-stop in the AMG. Got pushed off many, many times by people shooting up the inside in any and every corner, or people deciding instead of me passing them as they drive significantly slower, they'd dart sideways and push me off on straights. I got the orange SR down EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Finished 14th after spending so much time off-track. Lost 400 DR, and went from SR 99 with a clean race streak to SR 83.
I had been getting clean races on almost every Race C until today. Now that my SR has dipped from 99, I'm guessing the game will do its usual manipulative punishment matchmaking to make me fall to SR 30-something as fast as it can.
WHY won't people learn how to drive!? WHY?!?!

*Edit, did a 3rd race. Same issue. Others screw up a corner, come back on horizontally with no way to avoid them and hit me, I get SR down. They brake ridiculously early for a corner and also try to block my change of path to avoid them under braking, making it impossible not to touch them, I get SR down. They brake late and use me as their buffer, I get SR down. They scoop up the inside and hit me (as I maintain an outside line while turning in cos I see on my radar that they're there, no way to avoid it unless I were to park before the corner or jaunt into the grass) and I get an SR down. Someone I pass moves across sharply and puts me in the grass, I get SR down, etc etc etc. None of these others seem to have been affected by this disgusting performance, they weren't getting penalties for punting me off and they almost all a shiny blue S at the end. Now at SR 73. Most of them were A/S drivers and I was one of three B/S drivers, so it's not even like the penalty system is operating as it usually would. I don't understand why every single piece of contact in that race was my fault?
Anyway all this pushed and bs meant I finished 12th, only lost about 30 DR this time.

Here’s my Suzuka lap in the Gr.4 Mustang, 2:08.615. I tried the Megane Trophy for a bit, but was faster in this beast.

Disclaimer: there are many ways to get through the S’s fast, and this is not my favorite way. But when you make one mistake, you have to alter your lines a little to try and salvage. The key in the end, no matter how you take them, is to always get on throttle early for Dunlop and stay on it as long as possible.

So, I left a few tenths in the esses and missed the apex at the hairpin. Improve those, and maybe clean up my entry to Casio a little and you’ve got a top 10 time. Hope this helps some people improve their times.

Had a race this morning where three people 'lunched' their accounts, from A/S and B/S down to " -/E" after the race. I watched some of the replay back, I'm surprised it was only three! Total carnage with deliberate ramming going on everywhere and loads moaning after the race to report players! Should give timed "in game" bans from sport mode for that kind of crap. Like, have to play campaign mode/circuit experience for a few hours before you can enter a sport mode race again

*I started 4th and finished 3rd, by the way!

That was me. You were RIDICULOUS through that corner!! never seen anything like it. I'd get that corner about right and the Aston is an ANIMAL on that straight but you'd just freaking vanish!! I'd make up a ton of time on you through 'Esse', you always took it too wide and i take a weird angle through there that shaves time. So i always thought i just needed to hang on but EVERY time you vanish through the last corner.

I was a bit peeved as I messed up early and dropped to last from P6 but I enjoyed our battle in the end, it was a tough lobby and it was fun trying to get you.
I wondered if you might be a gtplanet user! :) And yeah I'm not great through the infield section with nobody to follow, the straight bits feel much too short and don't give you any time to set up for the next corner, tough to get a rhythm going. If it was just one long curvy bit like the Suzuka esses I'd have a much easier time.

Suzuka is back to being absolutely infuriating.

Nice little 2:09.184 in the Vantage in Tuesday. Definitely time left in it at Dunlop, and Spoon.

Can I get anywhere close yesterday, or today? Nope. Mid to high 2:09s is all I can manage.

Something changed in the update?

Possible. I did 60 odd laps last night. I've done about 40 today, and not once has my optimal been below 2:09.

I know I'm getting better at this consistency thing. But I'm not THAT consistent.

Try braking way earlier for Esse, and run right over the grass, almost cutting the corner. Slow you a touch for the next left but you gain a ton on that right.

Went to Interlagos for a race. Dropped my time by 2 tenths for a 32.6xx

Felt positive.

Matched with A+,As and Bs. Started 8th. The best of the rest.

Made some questionable choices laps 1&2 and proceeded to pick up track limits penalties every lap until lap 6 when I pitted 17/18 10secs adrift

Clean second half of the race. Finished in P15...
