I have often thought the same but then I put it down to the difference between race and qualifying psychology. When I'm trying to test the limits of the car and pushing flat out and the only risk is that I may screw up a lap then no biggie, hit reset and go again. When it's a race you probably become a little more cautious which in turn makes you a little bit more aware or apprehensive of losing the car. When that happens then the slide you experienced on a quali lap and ignored becomes the lack of grip that nearly cost you a race. Rather than put it down to grip on the track I'd say it's more down to your grip on reality.:D
I'm not sure. Sometimes the difference is monumental....

A Race is a riot. 1:06-ish Q time, but all over the grid. (5th, 11th, 2nd.) Mostly good races. Lost P2 in T1, but held P3 for the rest of the race. Driver who passed me was clean and fast- no contact, and I just couldn't catch him, so I can't be unhappy with the result. The car is really drivable, and slides predictably. It's also proof PD can do great V8 sound in an American car if they want to- I ran about 30 Q laps just loving the soundtrack!

@Gogga sorry i forgot who it was. Thank you very much for that video. I am fairly confident to tackle mechanical things but electronics not so much. I would not have had the courage to, or any idea what to do, if i opend the pedals without that clip.

@Pigems i think your shorting yourself of some good times by not running the dodge. It is a nice combo, the downhill s is frustrating for sure, but once you find the sweet spot its not bad. I am very biased though, love the old school boats and i am a mopar guy if anything....

Trimmed my time a bit to 4.862 started second and had a tough time keeping the pole sitter in view tbh. Raced him before and expected as much, i was also able to gap the rest of the field by a decent margin by the end. Was looking forward to more races but nnnnnoooooooooo.... was getting an error when trying to start the next race but the network still said it was fine. Quit the game to restart system thinking it was a just a wierd glitch or something. Connection test first, psn is down for maintenance.....🤬:banghead: this better be fast i got the day off...

That was fast. In for the 11 race...

Yeh, still can't figure if it is monumental real or monumental in my brain. Last week on Brands I was qualifying well with the Megane but could not race in it. With the Scirocco I could qualify and race. Perhaps it is down to the car's reaction to drafting and dirty air? When coming into a corner behind another car the Megane was sliding out while the Scirocco remained stable. This of course is a factor that would not occur on a solo TT lap. But yeh, I could not be sure either.

Nicely done man, looks like I’ve got some chasing to do tonight. I think I was just cranky yesterday, I’ve had a mega toothache for 3 straight days now. I’m gonna have another go at the Super Bee and Tokyo tonight, I never Q well on the Mountain so I’ll just do a few from the back on that race. :)

@Pigems that sucks to hear man. I have had a few serious tooth aches in the past. I can't type here the things i want to say about it. Hope it gets better soon my man.

The line for the a race is fairly thin and it is not helped by the size of the land yacht we are driving, but when you get the line it feels sooooooo good

Am I the only one finding there is a massive difference in grip between qualy and race on the Mountain? I drove both my Holden Dealer Team Mustang and M4 so far and during the race it was like driving on glass .
Glad you mentioned that. I'm seeing a huge difference between Time Trial and the race.
Background: I've been using Time Trial mode for over a year to test myself against the official qualifying times. If I mimic the race settings, it's spot on. My times in race qualifying and Time Trial are always the same.
This week, something is different. I've been doing Time Trial laps for rainy Tokyo for the last two days (same time of day. 12:30 rain), and my times would easily put me at #1 in the world. Yeah, right.
Not sure what the difference is, this week.

@Pigems, I've been there. Swishing vodka in your mouth helps almost instantly. 👍

Same with me about Tokyo. In arcade TT I hit a 2:12 but online in Race C TT I can barely touch 2:16...

My settings are the same. I made sure of it

The Tylenol 3’s are helping, I may not be on my A game tonight though, it’s says on the bottle not to operate motor vehicles or heavy machinery while taking them.

The Viper plays well in the rain. It sounds amazing too.

i'm glad you said that... i did a 2:11 on sunday at tokyo but kept my mouth shut on here because i thought i must have messed up the settings somehow.. but i double checked and everything matched with race conditions

With offline TT you can’t set Track Edge Grip to “Real”, so you end up with more overall grip than if it was set to real, offline the default setting is “Low” I believe. So offline testing for rain doesn’t really work. :)

As far as I know the offline and online wet weather physics are different regardless of setting track edge grip to “Real”. David Perel has two videos that prove this.

If you want to see where you stack up why not ways compete in the qualifying time trial online? You can easily check your ranking that way too.

Daily C Q-times. Have you all noticed that the tyres are intermediate if you dont change those?
Well, did only heavy wet laps, so dont know if the intermediate is faster...
Anyway, my best time for today was 2:12.922 BB5, Ford GT40 (meta in EMEA).
Good enough for me, now I can start to wait the Fuji GR1 next week ( RS tyres whoa!! )

Chasecam and real game replay again.

It's possible to experience the 'Real' conditions offline in the 'Custom Race' mode. 👍

mine was a custom race with track edge 'real' and the tyre & fuel settings same as the daily race not a TT so something is not adding up. Also had BOP on for the AMG GT because i was getting left for dust (or rain) in the tunnel against the AI.

i remember that video yes. I guess i'll just have to set the race up again offline and see what happens.

Gave Race C a few goes yesterday starting from the back in the Pug VGT. That car is an absolute weapon in the slipstream
There was a few incidents here and there but the races were cleaner than I was expecting, don't think I finished higher than 8th but was good fun. I do actually enjoy this layout of Tokyo in the dry and it's quite nice in the wet as well

When practicing for the FIA at RBR I remember trying a custom race and it yielding much different results in drivability if the car due to grip levels. I practiced in online lobbies and it was a direct comparison. For whatever reason wet physics are different on and offline.

2 reasons. I frequently enjoy starting the week racing from the back.
As for the other reason, truthfully, I suppose it would be ego. If in time trial mode, I can't get a time that's at least top 100, I usually won't bother qualifying. I guess I feel like it will make me look bad. I realize that sounds stupid. :O

Hi everyone, first post today but a long time lurker. Fun story, I discovered this site during the long wait of GT5 relesase and multiple delay.

So here I am, loving the game mainly because of the Daily Races and photos. I've been reading this tread for a while and decided to join the conversation.

Really enjoying the SuperBee this week. It's a beast to tame and I enjoy the challenge. The street car is where I shine compare to race car and last week was really good with two street car. Even if I'm sick and tired of Tsukuba, I still did a couple of races.

Tomorow I will be on Tokyo wet for shure. Rain looks so nice and pretty challenging.

@Mc_Yavel great to see you posting. Hope to see you on the track again soon.

Have had some great races this morning my qt is getting me pole but i am coming in second most of the time. It actually seems pretty easy to have hard clean races on this track as long as your both smart enougb not to push 2 wide in the down hill s.

Oh and is mamajara69 on here? If so that was an amazing race we just had.

I need help at race A. I'm over 2 seconds behind you. What settings are you using?

I am running my BB 3 to front. I think @Mistah_MCA has em 2 to rear. The car felt less stable to me and i had already been running with my settings, so i stuck with them. No tcs or any other aids and manual tranny. Go ghost hunting if your not finding the flow and/or watch mistah's lap guide if you haven't already. Not sure what else i can say...

Was ahead of you westerday morning, it didn't last long.

Started on pole a couple of time and a couple of win. This morning Turismo-Lester was on pole and I was 3rd. He said he wanted to start from the back, let everyone go at the start and he overtake me on lap 5. I finished second, I almost believed I could win this one...almost.
