@ Sturk0167.....

"I need help at race A. I'm over 2 seconds behind you. What settings are you using?"

1. Swap out gearbox - Its currently made of rice pudding.
2. Swap out tyres - They are currently made from gummy bears.
3. Swap out suspension - Spaghetti.
4. Brake disks - Pizza bases.
5. Steering rack and wheel - liquorice!
6. Engine - I have no words!!!

:-)

Regards.

Ian.

Couple of days out doing real world **** and what a shock to the system these combos are.

Race C is weird. There isn't a wet line, it's the dry line but with less grip. The drop off in coefficient of friction in the final hairpin is hilarious. It's like ice 3 yards off line. I've not braved a race yet until I use my primary account to learn the circuit and get consistent.

I've done some laps in A and finding the rear end difficult to keep planted. In the 1:04s but can't match the top guys' corner exits. B is a known quantity but not much of a circuit for making a run from the back, especially in such a short race.

Got to spend the day taking care of some ugly paperwork for the government but looking to have a go tonight in Tokyo again. Any ideas for non-META cars? I see the McLaren sideways all over the show and don't really want a bar of it. Seen the mustang do well and apparently the viper. Anything else?

I would normally look for race B but it seems way too short all of a sudden, especially at bathurst. They should have run that race in a couple of weeks when the real race is on.

If anyone wants to see sausage curbs in action check out the highlights from the Charlotte NASCAR ROVAL race. They see them and hit them anyway

Just did a Race C in the Beetle. Started 17th finished 9th, which wasn't too shoddy for me.

What was interesting is that I only had one penalty, and one SR down notification in the entire race; a 1 second penalty for a car hitting me going into the hairpin, and the SR down was coming out of turn 1 on lap one for the slightest of kisses on the rear of the car in front.

At the end of the race I had a white SR S rating.

Is the SR gain really that low in Race C?

This is why I hate the rain in GT. I only had 1/4 throttle applied and it spins out, seriously? What is supposed to be fun about this?

Nothing. This is PD's idea of a sick joke.

Serious question. Do race cars really handle that poorly at 50 MPH in the rain? Imagine if your typical street car handled like this?

Less than 1000 people have set a time for Race C in the American region so far, there isn’t even a page 3 yet.

Why bother? Just start from the back and hope for the best. Maybe you'll get lucky and the seas will part open for you.

Just had another go at Race A and I keep spinning out or having to lift coming down the hill. I think I’m gonna call it a week, I just don’t have the patience required for this weeks races. See you Fellas next week.

Race B is cool. I love Bathurst. Just wish we had an extra lap.

Race A feels like I'm driving a boat, but I like the track, so I'll keep trying.

Race C -- well.. you know.

I was unaware of this bathurst fact.

The track is 6.213 km (3.861 mi) in length, and is technically a street circuit, and is a public road, with normal speed restrictions when no racing events are being run, and there are many residences which can only be accessed from the circuit.

As a public road, on non-race days and when it is not closed off during the day as part of a racing event, Mount Panorama is open to the public. Cars can drive in both directions around the circuit for no charge. However, a strict speed limit of 60 km/h (37 mph) is enforced, and police regularly patrol the circuit.

A Speed limit of 37 MPH looks really strange to someone like me, living in the USA.

Idk why some people say they dislike Sardegna C, because I think it’s fantastic as a more basic, introductory track. I.e. what Race A usually aims to do.

I like all the Sardegna Road tracks.

Next week's races are up (early)!

A - Sardegna Road Track A, N200 - Sports Hard - 3 laps

B - Sainte-Croix B (IT EXISTS!!!!), Gr. 3 - Racing Hard - 3 laps

C - Fuji, Gr. 1 - Racing Soft (Tires x7, Fuel x5) - 14 laps

Wow. St. Croix back after what? A year? Love the combos next week. I wonder what the car will be for Race A? Though I wonder if that track is a pinch long for N200.

The 7 AM race was a cakewalk
IhnCUnC.jpg

Over 3 sec faster, matchmaking lol.

The next 2 were complete destruction derbies. I lost SR again, down to 71 now. Check out this one:
zUxwhEu.jpg

41 sec in penalties in lap 1!!! I wasn't doing too hot either. I had to ditch my car into the wall in T1 as there was no way to avoid whatever what was happening there, 5 sec. Then in T2 I got punted from behind and ended up with another 2 sec. Then I had to ditch into the wall again to avoid mr 41 sec in front of me +5, then when I made a pass on his next bounce he rammed me into the wall. PD really needs to examine the balance of penalties, 2 sec for ramming someone into the wall, 5 sec for steering into the wall to avoid hitting someone messing up...

Anyway, still finished 2nd as well as in the next race. By the time I got through the chaos first was 12 sec ahead. I got the fastest lap but not enough time to catch up. Still more fun than simply lapping on my own like in the first race from lap 2.

12 Seconds worth of penalties? That's nothing. During the Porsche/Tokyo races a few weeks back, I managed to get 25 seconds worth of penalties.

is this a bad time to ask how the zoom boom test went? :nervous:

For the actual test yesterday, my question booklet had all the answers circled already(it was all multiple choice).
I didn’t use them because obviously you can’t trust them to be correct, but I found it rather amusing, no one else’s booklets had the answers in them. :)

Edit: Well, there’s goes that. I accidentally set a 2:19.3 on Tokyo, so I can’t just leave it now. Gonna use the Corvette with the Cal Naughton Jr Livery. :)

I understand your point but neglecting a track for 14 months while consistently using Suzuka, Tokyo and Maggiore (stats below speak for themselves. Credit to @sturk0167 for the list.) is kind of ridiculous.

July 29th was the beginning of the weekly daily races. The number next to the track is how many times it's been used Sport mode races.

36 Suzuka
30 Lago Maggiore
27 Tokyo Expressway
22 Dragon Trail
17 Circuit de la Sarthe
17 Tsukuba
16 Kyoto Driving Park

14 Interlagos
12 Nurburgring GP
11 Mount Panorama
10 Blue Moon Bay
10 Monza
10 Nordschleife/N24
9 Willow Springs
8 Alsace Village
7 Autopolis (First race was 3/17/2019)
6 Red Bull Ring (First race was 9/7/2018)
4 Sardegna (First race was 7/7/2019)
3 Barcelona-Catalunya (First race was 11/18/2018)
3 Broad Bean Raceway
2 Goodwood (First race was 6/9/2019)
2 Northern Isle Speedway
1 Circuit de Sainte-Croix (First race was 8/5/2018)
0 Special Stage Route X & all dirt tracks
I agree. I wasn't really commenting on how often they rotate circuits, just that I'm glad it's finally in the rotation for the first time since I bought the game.

The slightest touch of a wall will negate the SR up for that sector. You might not even be aware of your back slightly stepping out and rubbing the wall. A time penalty costs lots of SR though, even getting nearly all the SR ups, one time penalty plus another SR Down, yep white is very likely the result.

I just got a red rating with 2 wall bumps (trying a different cars) which shouldn't cost SR and a couple SR Downs from cars running into me. I must have missed quite a few SR ups to already lose SR for a couple taps on my rear bumper. The clean race bonus is still a now show. It's so hard to keep the cat in line while behind traffic. All that spray and slipstream, then lifting off to avoid, it's like balancing on a wire the entire time. I've never done so much counter steering in any other race. Then the hairpin it's pretty much wiggle the front wheels to find some grip lol.

It's weird because in yesterday's race, I ended up with a total of 15 seconds of wall penalties, and a few SR downs, but ended up with a blue S and +4 SR.

Today was way less penalties, no hitting walls yet flat SR.

Just seemed weird, as I saw cars ahead and around me with blue S's, but throughout the race had more penalties.

I have the same feeling something is off. The only way to find out is save the replay and count the SR up arrows. It's all so inconsistent though, when wall penalties trigger, SR down for contact. Btw, you still lose 1 SR for any contact where you don't get SR Down or a penalty, but you will still get the SR up arrow for that sector. Hence sometimes only getting very little SR with CRB. On the Nord last week I got the clean race bonus but only +1 or +2 SR.

SR Down arrow I think is -2.
A penalty at least -5, likely higher for more time, or maybe it has nothing to do with time, DR?
Any contact not deemed your fault, -1.
Each sector SR up arrow is about +0.4

Slowest corner on the track by a long margin = no down force. Just got to be patient and let it wind up. Changing up early can help too in some cars.

Been there, done that. Before they put in the chase (Conrod used to be straight all the way from Forest Elbow to Murray's Corner) and took out the radical camber changes in the last few corners over the top of the mountain.

Looks like the green Lambo just before you pass the Nissan. After you touch doors he clips your right rear and spins/slides into another car then the wall. Not your fault at all, both times he touches you it's his driving. I think the critical point of contact is between 22 - 23 seconds into the vid, watch the radar.

And my day at the races - two on B, both in the Jaguar. P8 > P10 in the first, P7 > P8 in second, neutral SR, negative DR. Need more sleep, don't race tired. I might have to break out the Mustang, the Jag is fast but I'm not always consistent in it.

Q time is better than last time on this combo and it's only the start of the week, but that's put me in a higher rated group of drivers and I'm having trouble going fast and not hitting people at the same time. I really like this track and know it pretty well but there's not a lot of room for error.

And this is what it looked like before they made it "safer" (but not as bad is it had been 15 years earlier), the fast cars were lapping at about 2:30 with essentially no downforce, but without having to slow down for The Chase. Bear in mind too that this was a mixed class endurance race (1000km / 600 miles) with sub two litre Celicas and Alfas driving alongside five litre plus V8 monsters:

The Fords were a 351c.i. and the Holden Toranas (Marlboro branding on the lead car) had 308c.i. V8

I didnt really have a favourite track until i found bathurst. I was always a casual in racing games and only really knew the nurburgring from playing gt with my brother as kids. Once i got into gt sport heavy about a year and a half ago i started to learn about circuits and some of the history. One of the first races i watched live on tv/YouTube was last years 12 hours of bathurst and i was hooked on racing again. Last 20 minutes were awesome. The merc in 3rd or whatever defending for his life with **** tires and campbell finally getting into 1st with a tight squeeze forrests elbow. I still love the nurburgring but bathurst is the best. The eleavtion and the technical mountain section is fun. Pretty much read the whole wikipedia page the other day and finally learned where the corners names came from. I think i might get a bathurst track layout sculpture for my wall.

But uh yeah i love it lmao. I was insulted when a few ppl in here said gr4 there is boring lol.

Yellow merc was impossible to pass even with trash tires. dude killed it.

Is there a way to set the default tire choice? I'm trying different cars and the game has me starting on intermediates  Can't even pit to fix it, mandatory tires at pit stop: Intermediates :banghead: My best lap was 2:18.8, still gained 5 positions

So useless to even have the choice. It's like race B default to comfort tires if you don't set them every time you switch cars :banghead:

Saint-Croix B, does that have the fast section with the straight? I only know the C version from when it was on the one time. 3 laps for a sub section of the track, hmm. Still better than Fuji.

Use car settings in warm up to swap the tyres.

In terms of race C I see two issues with the Ford GT. 1. No margin at the top of 6th gear for slipstream speed gain. 2. It does some really weird **** as you try to feed in a small amount of throttle where it appears the clutch isn't engaging, so you just kinda coast with increasing revs. (This just drives the use of TCS where you can just punch the throttle to avoid the issue).

What are people using in race? Starting from the back I'm tempted by something like the NSX which has plenty of headway in top gear.

pigems on Sunday night: ”I LOVE this Tokyo track in the wet! I managed a 2:12.478 and nailed that hairpin. I don’t want this week to end for the love of god!”:lol:

I don’t know if it will get that far, but I am definitely starting to get the hang out of a little bit at least. :)

Edit: 14.3 now in the Ford GT. :)

I had an idea. What if in the next game if dynamic day/night/weather returns, and like that iOS Street Kart Racing game, the courses had day/night settings reflecting the actual time of day in that part of the world? Like if you were racing from North America in the afternoon, and the race was at Monza or something, it’d be sunset. On top of this, if the Daily Race format returns, and with a Race A/B/C format, each race could be at a track set in Americas, EMEA, and Asia/Oceania.

At a given moment, you may have something like Blue Moon Bay/Catalunya/Mt. Panorama, Sardegna/Big Willow/Suzuka, or Tokyo Expressway/Nurburgring/Interlagos.

Good idea. I thought it would be good if the Tokyo rain race started sunny and dry, then after about 10 minutes, the clouds moved in and it started raining. Everyone would pit for tire change.

@Pigems Learn in the race, tactics in the wet are quite different in places, although hugging the inside through T1, T2 is still the safest bet.

@250Cal I usually don't show up until the auto drive is going, I need to remember to get there earlier to set tires or click on qualifying when signing up to set it there. I think it remembers that as well.

I've tried the Huracan mostly, 275 top speed on the straight on it's own, but will go up to 288 drafting.
Ferrari only makes it to 270 on it's own and doesn't really want to go over 275 while drafting.
Viper stops at 276 by itself and gets a bit extra speed while drafting.

The Huracan is still the fastest for me so far.

There are also AMG, McLaren BMW and Ford GT in the race.

Try changing the tyres in the garage menu before entering the race session. I think cars I've tried with full wets still have the full wets on them next time I try them, whereas the default seems to be inters.

I was on the road to getting 2:11.6 on Daily C race.

Car starts to oversteer just a bit.
I overcorrect it.
I lose control and hit a wall.

I want to cry right now.

I've just dropped a 2:12.x - I feel similar but no doubt less!

At this point, I need to step away from GTSport for a bit.

What car are you using? The Ford GT seems really stable.

@Sven Jurgens The Ford GT does 277 flickering 278 on its own.
I'm on the Huracan GT3. I was using the GT LM earlier, but I can't get that absolute unit to turn.

These "colliding with another car" penalties are absurd on the Tokyo track. Even the most inconsequential contact gives you a two second penalty if the other car touches the wall at all. I got one on @Voodoovaj just now, and he got one on me at the end of the race which ruined his race, but neither of us actually lost time from the incidents.
