2 hours! I usually only do 2 laps before jumping in a race lol. Of course then I always start in the back and run faster laps in the race... Then another qualifying lap after a couple races when I'm dialed in on the track. My previous time for GR.4 Yamagiwa was
GR4 1:41.319 2,011 / 31,461 - 6.3920% 238 / 4,559 - 5.2204% 35 / 593 - 5.9022% 3/6/2018 6:29:50 PM
I get bored after lap 2 driving alone.

It didn't matter yesterday on Brand's hatch. I always made up plenty positions simply by staying on the road, 1:14 lap times were enough for consistent top 5 finishes, even starting from 13th. The aliens up front were out of my reach anyway as usual.

My DR looks like a roller coaster ride, Monza, Bathurst, Nurb 24 and GR.1 drive it up, GR.4 and easier tracks to stay on the road drive it down since qualifying matters more for those.

Actually the qualifying is very important to discover your best Brake weight distribution and know every "little twitch", like braking points and gear shifting points... for example.. that you must implement on your driving in every corner of the track...

1st rule of Race is.. know the track very.. very well (in detail) and how your car behaves on every trickier part of it!!! And that can only be done with more than 2 laps... And let me add that this is the main reason (surely) why your DR graph is just like a roller coaster...

Bored or not, (and I must had that such "feeling" is a bit childish) you should implement this "method"... you´ll see that it pays off... very well!

We all know that the best things in life can only be achieved with (at least) some (if not many) hard work.. and not only by the pleasure of doing it!!!

Example on Sport: C.Ronaldo, the top world soccer player, is probably one of the soccer professionals that spends more time of his daily normal life training, even at home he does a lot of muscular work and gimnics, and besides in a normal training day, he mostly is probably the last to leave the daily training work out! And believe me that he loves to play soccer a lot!!!

Seems qualifying times makes a bit of a difference. I started C Race with a 1:38.9 and 2nd ran a 1:40. When the race started I had at least a .800 gap right out of the first corner. Other races where 2nd had a 1:39.4 and wasn’t as far back:dunce:

This has neither been confirmed or denied, but I feel like it's accurate.
The other day at Monza I had a 1:56.4 qualifying time and on my last race of the night 2nd was a full second behind me in qualifying.

Normally at Monza 2nd place is breathing down your neck at the first chicane and I take the inside line just to be clear there aren't going to be any shenanigans. Except this time 2nd place was still relatively far back so I could take my normal line instead.

Looking at your Dr points that doesn't surprise me. What car dare I ask:bowdown::bowdown:
 
Did 2:00.500 at Dragon Trail and 1:16.470 at Lago Maggiore.

That are not bad times but I can only imagine what can happen in races, it can be slow or quick "derby" .

I had chances to go under 2:00 but I failed every time, on last corner!

Look at the video at 1:42, there is a driver on his left quarter panel and the OP is clearly squeezing him to the barrier.
If that is a full car width of room than I think you might be driving a motorcycle.

I'm not saying OP squeezed him intentionally, but when you drive without radar and somebody is very close to you, this is what happens.

I couldn't tell that the M4 has switched from being on the right side of the car to the left side. Now that I looked at it again I see there is the red dot flashing on the left of the HUD. The "leaving room" statement was made on belief of the M4 still being on the right side of the car and I think that's also where OP thought it still was...

So true, spending time to practice really makes the difference especially for race c. I even go as far as making a custom race with the same amount of laps, tire wear and fuel consumption just to get a rough idea of how the car will be over the race, then I go do qualifying.

I think I'm getting plenty experience on the tracks, Sport Mode Completed Races 1735 :)

I never bother with settings though, reduce TCS is all I ever do. Brake weight distribution, never touched it. I enjoy racing with other cars, anticipate their moves, adjust my driving line on the fly, plan ahead and make that clean pass when opportunity arrives. You don't get that experience no matter how long you qualify. Plus more overtaking opportunities when you drive faster than your qualify pace.

My DR graph is like a roller coaster since when I do well on a track, I'll gain a lot of points that day, and vice versa, if I don't do well I'll lose a lot, simply because I'm averaging 12 races per day and never back down from a challenge. (Except the imo boring daily A races, too slow, too short)

I race for fun, not to get better, which comes naturally with lots of practice. The main draw of GTS for me is BoP, near equal footing for everyone, no need to understand car settings to do well.

The race C's are always a battle of fuel consumption anyways, unless someone just has a clear speed advantage. Not exactly my cup of tea. I don't mind some strategy every now and then but I tend to want to test my skills and racecraft against others not my knowledge and experience with the fuel consumption model (a very unrealistic one BTW). I tend to stick to the Daily B's, with the occasional Daily C if I'm just really in the mood.

Yup, that's the problem when you don't have radar, very hard to know where other cars are around you unless you have a rear view mirror.
 
OMG today's FIA Nations Cup race! I was horrific in qualifying, it was like Bambi on ice trying to get around and I ended up down in 13th, in the race I looked after the tyres in the first stint and slowly picked them off one by one to get up to 2nd by the pitstops. The second half of the race was more of a flat out sprint but I'd learned enough about the car to close a 5 second gap to win by 6 hundredths of a second.

I've won from further back on the grid but this one felt special because the qualifying position was on merit, I could go no faster. A gentle touch and learning on the fly ftw!

I‘m still mad at Kaz for not giving us a rear view mirror for every camera view 🤬
 
In the end I did one A and one B race.
Both were intense but fair.

Took a look at kunos and my SR is 99 again.
Now I should stop watching that, what happens, happens - all this is too exhausting to me.

But I’m okay I did a 1:16.9 which was just shy of a guy on my friends list whose usually top 10 ad the lap felt good
Check the leader boards and they are in the 14s 14.2 is the quickest
I watched a replay and the way the power is delivered and they way he shifts gears is bizarre he often wheelspins third into fourth then boom power I don’t know how they do it
Might just be something I’m missing but 3secs almost on a track I go well at it in a one make seems a little off not sure what I’m doing wrong

Well that was unexpected. Thought I would try race C, did 4 laps qualifying and managed to 1:41.1 with the Audi TT (easy car to drive in the limited testing space I had). Started the race in 8th and expected the usual midfield melee, but steadily gained places instead being 4th by the time most people pitted at the end of lap 5. I decided to go for an extra lap but my tires were worn and by the time I had pitted and came out I had dropped a place. I expected everyone to slowly drive away from me, but instead I closed up and with people picking up penalties I ended up in 3rd place and only 2 seconds behind. Good race I thought.

The weird thing though was the DR points I gained - 2767 points, so now I am an AS racer. Does that mean I have to practice?

Best move a 2 at once pass :)

No not really, i just wanted to try something new and didn't do a qualilap. Because of this "trying" thing i used the other account. Also i always use the 911 in Gr.3, also on tracks were other cars are better.

I thought the Video would be interesting and of course if you try to pass 20 cars in 10 laps the chance of every overtake being perfectly clean is not very high. But i get it now, seems like it wasn't a good idea to post it here if it's not super clean. You better don't watch some old Touring car footage.

You do know touring cars are renowned for bad racing conduct. It's fun to watch (in real life, not on a computer game) but if you ever hear the interviews from the drivers afterwards, or drivers from other racing championships comment on the touring car class, it comes across as a bit of a circus. I don't want to race in a circus.

I do love how touring cars get brought up as some pinnacle of good hard racing lol. Frank Sytner and James Weaver were constantly taking each other out back in the 80s, and were team mates. John Cleland (sp?) was another who was always in the centre of some incident if I remember correctly. Being "fun" to watch in real life doesn't mean good racing to those actually on track.

Edit: Then we have the Jason Platos and Matt Neils who can be forceful on track and see their fair share of incidents. None of which are happy with the other after the race.

Touring cars = SR:B or even C in GTS to me.

This is absurd!!!!! I thought how in hell are the top times so far ahead? I read this and thought you were joking. Went in, low and behold its a thing! How is this a thing???? I instantly took 1.3 seconds off without even trying!!!! Ridiculous
 
Just pay attention to top left corner and BoP, if is Off and car from garage, then you can tune some levels.

Though this monster RS comes even more hard to handle with level 3...
