Glad to be back in SR.S (briefly) You can always depend on the highest rated drivers to overcome a glitched start.

This is why we can't have standing starts in the daily C.

That race was a crash fest, ended up with a BS penalty for a car ramming me and pinging off. Back to SR.A. The race after was a rain of SR Downs and another BS penalty, back to SR.B. I guess racing is not possible atm, extreme avoidance mode activated.

That’s nothin.

I keep wondering if anyone runs Subaru for race C.
As I said a few posts back, there was one in a couple of my lobbies who stormed through the pack - finished 8th and 7th in both races I saw him.

Though it's a bit late to talk about tyre/fuel conservation, I remember @Tidgney saying in one of his videos that heavy braking can also make tyres wear out faster. Can't remember which one (maybe from his 2019 FIA Manufacturers run - Tidge, could you remind us, please?), but learning about this compelled me to practice and build strategies around gentler throttle and brake inputs. On a controller, motion steering and analog triggers (L2 + R2) are my default inputs, and with good reason - the steering feels smoother and more natural than on the left stick, while I can gauge acceleration and braking forces much better than when I used to jam the right stick up and down in GT4-GT6.

That’s nothin.

Don't forget this (honestly, what was Grosjean thinking?):

Yeesh, it is getting really pushy on spa this morning for me. Had an all SR S rated room couple of serious pushers in there. One got grumpy with me because I hadn't realized that 0.4 back is plenty close to bomb in at less coombs? Sorry, still learning corners. Another driver talking about going for clean races. Got 2 track limit cuts first lap, started beating the hell out of everyone around. Ended up leaving SR B. Couple others in front left as SR A. Kind of glad I was in the back, but to be honest I was a bit jittery with the morning coffee sonot 100pct smooth like I needed to be. Hopefully the 2 punt happy trolls in that race won't be back to S when I get my next race.

Tried a lap with the citroen and definitely feel something has changed, maybe just my skill level but keen to take it out for a spin, got to get so.e real practice laps in before I do though.

Whew the Renault was a hard CRB to get. I can get it down to a flat 2:24 while fuel saving, not enough to stay out of range of the crash and rush back crowd. The biggest problem are the slow corners, the Renault needs to carry speed through the corner, any mid corner adjust because the car ahead loses control means a lot of speed lost and prone to get tapped by a car coming from behind. It didn't have any of the slide issues I had with it on N24, it's just not very fast.

Btw SR.A so dirty compared to SR.B. I'm back in SR.S now, crash fest first lap. The higher the SR, the worse the backfield it seems. Spa is putting up a good challenge for the CRB this week. 7th place finish with CRB with the Renault navigating through crash festival felt like a first place victory :)

And the worst part is, none of that is practice for the one make in a few weeks

Apart from learning where each corner goes, of course

@Sven Jurgens

Man my old replays from Nurb GP one make VW GTI (bonus suggestion?)could have rivaled that.
Fantastic combo it was. One of my first fast quals ever.
Got banged around hard first race...Made it back to second but pens added finished like 12th.
One Saturday morning I ran that race continually. Gained lots of dr, but half of S America had me on their most wanted list.
It was fun!

The GR.X version is actually easier to drive, probably because of the medium tires. I did 2:19 laps in that in a test race. It's far more stable. The AI are dirt bags though and super slow.

@Groundfish your Mustang is ready. Forgive me, it's not an exact replica. The body panels are on the Ford are different sizes and shapes than the Monte Carlo that Jean Girard drove. I didn't bother with the number on the roof because I couldn't find any decals that had the number 5 shaped correctly. I had to hand-craft the 55 on the doors with about a million decals, and just didn't want to do it again.
Win a race with it. 👍

When you add to your collection and apply it to your car, it will change the McMurphy01 name above the door to yours. Maybe you already knew that.

That’s amazing man!! Wow.

How bad are us D-Pad users, that Merc weas clearly a D-pad guy, you can tell by the flickity flickity flick way he drives .... man it's annoying looking at it from other peoples perspective.
Flickity flickity is often (but not always) lag and internet jitter rather than controller input. I've compared replays recorded by me and by another driver in the same race. It's like chalk and cheese how differently a vehicle appears to be driven after its driver's inputs have been muddled up by the internet then re-interpreted by someone else's console.

Qualifying after patch: Peugeot vs Citroën :D

And this is how you win races... not necessarily fastest, but consistently fast every lap. Awesome. :D

What cars give problems with tires or is it mostly rubbing the rubber :irked: to much? Drivingstyle really of influence?
Though car choice is a factor, driving style and driver's ability to cope with changes in traction is also significant. Driving style and ability affect tyre wear and driver ability affects how worn tyres affect vehicle control. This week at least, I always stop for tyres on race C as my skill level isn't up to driving consistently (never mind fast) on even slightly worn tyres. If I try a no-stop, I'm a hazard to other drivers and I drive cars that are easy on tyres and handle slightly worn tyres well. (Edit: and to some extent, which controller / steering wheel is being used)

On the Road to redemption :D so let’s hope :)

So far 2 wins at Spa, two 2nd places and one 3rd place! Enough to make up for bad race last night! Net gain of 1.3k DR points. Some people hit me and drove off the track immediately giving me 4s penalties but I am getting smart with those. Down to B SR but hopefully for not too long!

Driving M6, FM 1 all out :D using cockpit view camera. Last race I managed to get +4 seconds on first lap. Gave enough advantage to pit at end of lap 5 and still come out 5 seconds ahead.

Now watch the replay with a cold beer!

Trying to remember what cars were good for no stop since I know I don't have outright pace to do a pit. I can remember RC F, citroen, AMG, vette and 911. I find the RC F unstable, need some practice in citroen and watched too many AMG drive straight off in my races to try that. Don't have a Vette but might need to get one. Is there any I am missing that might be worth a go?

Edit: Forgot 458 but not capable of managing it's tires for the full race

The old Merc and the Ferrari can no stop a second well. :)

Anyone else having problems logging in the game? I keep getting a black screen then it says server not available. I'm pretty my internet in working and i've tested the connection on my PS4 and everything looks good

EDIT: After 2 system reboot, seems like I'm in the clear now!

There are 2 Gr.3 Mercedes Cars, I think they’re 2016 and 2011 models? Either way, in the dealership it’s the older model of the two. It’s better on fuel and I find it has less understeer than the newer one. :)
Sweet. I am pretty sure I have all of those so will have to give it a go. Spent 5 laps behind someone no stopping in the M whatever and I simply couldn't reel them in unless I floored it through eau rouge complex.

@Pigems why do i feel slower with abs full when everybody says its faster? i have tried both over the last few weeks and it seems like my stopping power is nerfed slightly with abs full. even though it does take bit more focus with abs weak to slow down from the same brake point consistently, it just feels like i can out brake people better. is the consistency of abs full the difference maker?

That’s a good question, I’ve always been told Default is fastest, but that doesn’t necessarily make it true though. It is what works best for me though. Do you change the way you gear down when braking at all when you have ABS on weak or do anything else differently?

In theory the more control over the car you have the better, so if one was to get proficient at using less abs or no abs it probably is better, just a lot more difficult and possibly less consistent over the entire length of a race.

i didnt change how i shift really. it mostly just makes me focus on braking instead of just slamming the pedal. that is probably the diference. i actually try and feel the car and grip and adjust my braking pressure more because i dont have the safety of abs.

And tyre wear if you're not managing brake lockups with ABS off.

That’s probably it then, try doing the same with ABS on default, I feel like they’ve made braking more important over the last couple of updates. :)

Did the update bring with it a change in SR for race C? Earlier in the week I got 9 for a clean race. Now I've had 11 for one with a nudge, makes me the the CRB could be worth 12+

How much you get for a CRB depends on how much you started with. You get more when you DR is lower.

well i just did my first spa no stop in the SLS GT3 and shredded my front tires with weak abs lmao. still placed 4th though. i did a a couple races in the viper with abs default the other day and definitely didnt shred em this bad even tho i pitted for fuel in those races. i am not good at managing tires.
