I seriously do not get what to do in Race C. I do a pit stop and finish horribly, I try to no stop and I finish down. What even is the right strategy?

My tactic in the 911, from the auto start turn mix down to 6, then at the start to La Source I run in 4, out of the hairpin down to Eau Rouge its in 3, along Kemmell it's 3 to then 4 as I approach Les Combes, then in 4 all the way around until the exit of Stavalot, where I whack it up to 2, then down to 3 before Blanchimont, the down to 4 again as I reach the bus stop.....I then repeat that more or less, depending on slipstreams, or defending a little from behind, for the rest of the race....I go through all the corners in mix 4 always, and then turn it up to 2 or 3 on the exits etc. I don't really shortshift in the Porka, as it's not the most "revvy" car out there.

It's not the quickest way in the 911, but it's helped me gain a lot of podiums, and 3 wins this week, and about 20.000 DR! ;)

I know Spa is where it's at this week, but I've been working on qualifying at RBR. A quick tip for the non-aliens, and possibly pad users too. I tried out the Gr4 Megane tonight (starring in @Mistah_MCA track guide), but found that exiting corners in a higher gear than you might expect helped to avoid understeer and the increased traction results in better acceleration.

This is especially the case for the first two corners. Example:
T1, minimum corner speed was 67mph, accelerated in 4th gear (not 3rd).
T2, minimum corner speed was 39mph, accelerated in 3rd gear (not 2nd).

Might "feel" slow, but got me a 1:36.451 and it's way easier to get the power down consistently.

Edit: of course, this advice is specific to the Megane and presumably other FF cars, but is unlikely to translate well to other drivetrains!

Woah, that is a lot of fuel map management. I can barely handle flipping it to 3 for the middle twisties after Kemmel without losing focus.

My strategy in the 911 has just been to short-shift and drive smooth and consistent. Only need to mess with fuel mapping if I get caught up in a scrap and burn too much. Otherwise I just aim for 12% used per lap and have had really consistent results.

Not the fastest, but she’ll do

Then race two happened, and a case of being caught up in other people's crap again.

I've seen some hairy races, but good grief. If the Merc had shoved me around like that, I might have forgotten to lift going through Eau Rouge. :mischievous:

Sorry, it's movie night for us tonight. We're watching the Mule in a couple minutes. PS4 is off. Have fun!

Saw it a few months ago. Good movie. Hate the ending.

I've been off GTS the last few days due to the Monday morning traffic jam. I forgot about the Friday afternoon traffic jam. Race B was first. Guy in 4th place had a connection problem. Cars stacked up like cordwood behind him. Countdown, then release the hounds. I have never seen 8 cars try to go through the final turn at RBR at the same time, but I have now. Also, I gently tapped the guy in front of me, L1, T1. I won a five second penalty. :banghead:

Ok. Race B is turning into a bloodbath for me, let's try a C. Note to self: stay as far away from Spa until I get more laps under my belt. Cumulative total of around 12.5 seconds of penalty time & my SR falling like an anvil to C (again). And, I managed to make this stupid move.

Citroen......change gear at 7500rpm....watch out for idiots and gain at least 12 places.

Seriously.

Since Tuesday I've been in the Citroen. Don't do a qualy time, so start 18th to 20th. Short shift at at 7500, and I've finished 7th or 8th every race.

Oh, Fuel Map 1 all the way.

I'm a B/S in NA, and a B/B in Europe.

I definitely back this strategy. Will post video of it later but I started 17 of 18, got spun in the bus stop at the start and had to turn around with no reset. Started 16 seconds back after that. Fought back to 13th. Jerk that spun me got a few others then quit when they kept getting penalties.
But I haven't checked the replay, I might have turned in but it sure didn't feel like it. Who goes for a pass there at the start anyway?

Mmmmmkay, so back with the edits. Turns out I probably turned in a bit on the guy at the start where I spun, but I definitely got the worst of it. While I would say easily half my fault, where the hell is the reset? That was so hard to fight back. Didn't even see a car for 2 laps. Second half of video is the fantastic divebomb from the "clean" driver who terrorized the field that day.

Besides all that had an otherwise decent night. Will count getting 13th from that horror spin start as a damn win as I even crossed the finish line, although I was coasting as I ran out of gas. Got a 3rd after starting 12th, the only driver in the field not to pit? Not sure why, but ok. And the last race I was stuck behind a horrible moving chicane for most of the race. Kept giving other drivers chances to get past, but I just couldn't keep it lined up right in the right places to make a good pass. The one time I got ahead they pulled the fantastic gentle bump pass and I was stuck behind again. Cost me DR but more annoyingly 6 SR to deal with that 🤬🤬 for 6 of the 8 laps. Probably should have just punted them but was trying to be super cool about it. Oh well. Still a pretty good night of fun. Had some blasts in the classic car series with the ferrari. What a pig, and no track limit penalties or punting penalties!! No wonder so many people try that crap during the sport mode races. I got to work on my speed.

And I'll start it off, guesses for next week?
Race A? Maggiore short in the fiat 500
Race B? Sardegna B Gr 4
Race C? Monza!! Gr 1

Going to try my 1st Daily race today any tips beside dont hit other drivers.
I am a beginner I not completed all the practice section.

Enjoy your experience and try to keep calm and drive with your head. Accidents happy so don't worry to much about it. Have fun :)

....
Currently parked in the Pit due to carnage ...:indiff:...and switched off the PS4! What a f.. mess this morning 👎 Nice as well, I am just being used as a roomfiller with A+ people. 2 to 3 seconds of pace and simply above my league. The 'dreadful' who race in the back are a very mixed bag. From bumping, punting to clean and muscling through....

....
New try at 13:30...we'll see :nervous: yup and another penalty outside of my fault. Really starting to dislike this system.

I started the week with my alt account at 31k DR with 99 SR. I finished yesterday with 15k DR and 30 SR after following the death spiral to its inevitable conclusion.

Today, I'm going back for more. It previously took me 40-ish races to make up that deficit. I'll probably have to park the Huracan in favour of something more durable.

How is the Hyundai at Spa? Has anyone normal tried it?

I'm not sure I fall under your definition of "normal" :p but: not good. I no stopped and averaged 2:24 times. Fuel isn't an issue when shifting 1/4 of the bar; I had 0.6 - 0.7 fuel in reserve to full rev when I needed to. Slow top end speed and you gain very little in drafts. It's stable and well-planted to the track. It's just I find no incentive to use it over faster no stop options.

I didn't try stopping. I'd guess it would be worse.

I wish, that’s the max it allows, it should be 20.

I always assumed it was... Race Cs and FIA lobbies have 20 capacity. I wonder why not regular lobbies. Weird.

I went on the internet today, and I saw this.........!

This thread never fails to surprise me. Never change.

When you end up in a room where a player is called: "sub_loadofseamen"
Just how on earth did it get through the filter :scared:
I've seen worse. The filter is very literal and not very smart. In the filter's eye, there's nothing wrong with that read literally, you have to have the human abilities of pun and association to see the lack of merit.

Did what I said I wasn't going to do and ran some races from the back! Four in all, two Lambo with a stop and two Ferrari non-stop, finished 10th in pretty much every race and gained 700DR. I don't think there's that much between the Lambo going flat and pitting and the Ferrari fuel saving if you have a crowd to go through. Although it did take me both races to remember that to save the rear tyres in the Ferrari you don't put the BB to the rear! It turned in beautifully at the end of the races but the back end wasn't sticking!! Won't make the same mistake next time.

Anyway, fourth race was the most interesting. All A rank and it had @HammyMansell in it, was fun watching him getting his elbows out! He was only near me because he had an eventful first lap and passed me on the entrance to Eau Rouge because some donut ahead of me picked up a penalty and decided to crash his car into the wall, bouncing me into the opposite wall as he came back onto the track. But I'll say Hammy is happy that I saw him coming and lifted on the entrance or we could have had something of a plane crash!

Anyhow, basically spent the whole race about 1-1.5s behind him, was hoping to press towards the end but while fuel was good to push, tyres weren't (see above about BB!) but we caught up to a couple of cars. I got the popcorn out to watch the drama unfold ahead and ended up benefitting from a 3s penalty and a nice run out of the final hairpin to go from 12th to 10th over the line. Better tyres and I reckon I'd have nicked 9th

Need to practice fuel saving more, ran a lazy method of just having FM2 and short shifting rather than what I'd been doing the previous race of FM1 from Stavelot to Les Combes and FM3 with short shifting for the rest of it. Also could have pushed to close up and use the slipstream, but I was lazy like I say!!

Enjoyed the races though

I do. :D

The best advice I can give you is to race the track, not the opponents. Focus on driving as mistake free as you can, and be clean. It will do you good in the long run.

This. So much this. I have to admit forgetting this simple principle. Last week at Big Willow, I raced the track, won some races, picked up DR & SR. This week, haven't followed this idea, gave back some DR & a bunch of SR. :irked:

I hadn't planned on racing tonight, but after watching a documentary on the art of D&D followed by a shower I felt like having a crack at Race B. Generally Gr4 tends to be fairly close BoP wise in my class, so Gr4 races can be a trainwreck of people not taking into account the concertina effect of cars braking ahead. Entering was a gamble, but anyway...

I qualified with the trophy, and it was a crap qualy time. 16 cars and only a few DR/Cs, the rest Ds, so I generally expect to start in the top 1/3. Yeh no. P12 .

Race gets under way, and I get punted off the track at T1, but still keep it going forward because I'm on concrete and not grass. Narrowly avoided the wall :scared:. The guy that hit me got a penalty at least, but it was less than the time I lost. From there it was just circulating. I caught up after a lap and spent the next couple in P10. I did have a bit of tooing and frowing with a Japanese driver. It was nice to see someone being considerate.

I picked up another couple of places from someone ending in the sand and another serving a penalty. For some reason I had it in my head that I started P10, so finishing P8 I was a bit confused that it said I'd gained 4 places . What confused me even more was the clean race bonus. Aside from my trip off piste, I was sure I had gone off track.. not enough for a penalty, but not exactly completely on track either :odd:.

SR blue, DR up a few. Another day above DR 1 .

Can someone explain to me how I got almost 2000 DR (9800 to 11591) from one race where I finished 8th out of 20 and literally everyone in the room was DR-C?
When you cross from one DR range to another, you gain or lose an extra 1500 DR points. C > B actual DR gain + 1500, B > C actual DR loss minus an extra 1500. Looking at your Kudos page you've gained 550 DR today plus 1500 for jumping up to DR-B

5 minutes until kick off time. What will Saturday bring on Spa. I imagine a lot of involuntary time spend off track. BMW M3 is up first today, not too bad on fuel, good brakes, not that fast, but easily beats the M6 on this track in a no stop. I'm starting at 24.4K DR 98 SR today after barely surviving the Friday late afternoon chaos. I imagine it's going to be worse today. Popcorn ready for the spectacle from the back!

So far I've had a couple 3 clean race streaks with a longest streak of 4. I doubt I will be able to beat that today from the back but I'll try. It all depends on starting position and/or fast people staying on the road in lap 1 so they don't end up hurrying back from behind in traffic. Still no victory for me, 3rd place best. Perhaps a knock down in SR will get me a first place from the back. In max SR.S I always finish at least 20 sec behind the leaders.

Starting 20th, lucky number! 2:17 flat on pole, not gonna win this one.

I confused the M3 with the Z4. M3 bad brakes, bad on fuel, but still beats the M6 by half a second in lap times. So much understeer though. It would have been an easy CRB finishing 15th but in the last left a car pushed me out an inch over the kerbs. No penalty, but it triggered the CRB loss.

While I'm extreme fuel saving, McLaren 650S next. It will probably need FM2 as well to make it. M3 needed it for about half the race.

Poor 650S, 6 laps in FM2 short shifting very early, 2:24.201 best lap, only beats the M6. Always useless in a fuel save race. 15th place finish, only cause of quitters and technical issues with the car behind me (gas pedal problems). No CRB, got tapped by a pit stopper. (Finish time +1:03 on the leader lol)

Back to the spa for a short visit this morning. Winter is here so i guess i gotta change three sets of wheels today, and drive the wife to work so i can do her car.

Put my helium socks on to try the R8. It seems to have worked lol. Also finally feeling like i know the track generally speaking. After 7 laps i started to trim time. I was able to cash in a best of 2.20.263 but had a lap the would have been a 19.9xx at least but i touched the grass before the final chicane and ate the wall.... hope to get back at it this afternoon.

Nice seeing you on track mate, and yeah the usual bonkers going on in the first few moments of the race, glad you didn't suffer any more than you did. And sure, it's a case of elbows out, and bellies in with some people that "race"..... :dopey:

I won the Beetle Gr3 as a Daily Workout prize the other day, and decided to give it a go for my only race this morning.

A good solid little car, and a rocketship on the straights. Started 3rd, and finished 2nd after a tense, but ultimately stalemate type race, where we all had the measure of eachother. The Beetle is good and tyres and fuel, I non stopped as ever!

Interesting. Any idea why this mechanic exists?

I tried the Ferarri again, now leading in the top spot before the Cirtoen and Huracan for lap times. However I was in 9th, then a Brazilian stuck a nose in and send me spinning out into the field in the middle section. In the last lap with ruined tires another car bumps me from behind a couple times and sends me into another tailspin. Finished 16th, worse than with the slow cars :/ Ferrari and Huracan simply aren't any good in dirty traffic.

@Kjeldsendk: I saw your posts on Youtube regarding Tx-40i_ironman (EMEA) about abusing the penalty system. I had simmilar exp. with him in a few races. It is unbelievable how a coward he is in doing that!!! Can we do something about this behaviour?
