Every now and then, I use them when I'm trying to learn a new track. There is definitely no shame in using cones, just as there is no shame in using the flashing Brake indicator*.

*If you know the context about the flashing brake indicator, you're an OG.

oh yeh boi!!!

Sardegna is a punt-fest. Just impossible to have a fun and clean race. I am done with that combination!

i get that. Started P7 last night and after some fighting between drivers ahead i was in P3... so i'm in a nice tight group of 3, about 4 seconds ahead of P4, we're 3 laps into a 15 lap race and we can just cruise, keep it safe and steady and then let's see what happens... BUT NO! Why would we want to do that... instead P2 decides he wants to lead our pack of 3 at any cost.. divebomb, door banging, undercut, overcut, nudging.. you name it. I'm sat behind thinking i don't want to get involved and hoping they'd just take each other out - by which time P4 is on my tail who also wants a piece of the action... i get bumped and spun and end up P8 or something.. absolute madness.
I guess some people want to play the game and some want to play the sim :indiff:

This was a cool one.

I don't always like to bathe in others misery, but that mp41819 Japanese player in the F1. I beat him 6 consecutive races on track in different cars each time. He qualified ahead every one too.

Yesterday I started to think about the Megane and Race B. B/S Lobbies.

My thought was to bring some color into this race and give finally the RWD cars a try. Sounds like fun - but it really wasn´t... :nervous:

Made some races with the Viper, Aston Martin and the M4.

The Viper is so nice to drive trough the hills, no suprises, a lot of traction and this amazing V10 sound!
M4 is also fun, a bit more tail happy. It has this feeling of a touring car I like personally.
Aston is stable and feels very well balanced, my favourite RWD yet at Bathurst.

Well, I couldn´t do a good qualifying. No improve with this cars and I was forced to start with the 2.15xxx time I managed with my Megane. So slow...

So I started between 12th and 14th position into the races. While my pace was good with the three RWDs, you get stuck up the hill behind the Meganes, TTs and RCZ. You can follow them, you are faster but you will not pass. And then we come to the long straights where they gain 0,5 to 0,8 sec gap to you despite draft....

Had some luck with gravel divers, but could not cross the line better then 10th. Somehow frustrating, but I did my best to give the race some colour it desperatley needs.

Maybe I will take some credits and bring it to my friendly virtual Jaguar Dealer. Was told, that they will happily sell me a F-Type Group 4. I´m just curious if I am able to be competitive with a RWD car against the FWD flood at Mount Panorama. :banghead:

@Leftcurl exactly! I was on a fuel save and tire save strategy and people take that as "a target" to bump, bruise and shove off the track.

Was in a good position until the "wrestle-through" squad came into action.

Bathurst is where the fun is at. I lose big on DR since I get beaten by many B players in a Mégane versus my sturdy Viper but hey, having a great Time. Interval could be a bit shorter !

"old-gitt-55" active in hère? Had an absolute blast racing with him at Bathurst. Forgot to save the replay :banghead:

I had quite a bit success in the F-Type the last time this combo was around 2 months ago. Give it a try.

Racing together with fuel savers and pit stoppers on a tight/narrow track in a fast class sometimes isn't going to be pretty.

I've had a couple of clean races (mainly B/S lobbies, what a difference that makes) since my disaster of a first race. Although maybe I happened to be lucky and somehow wasn't able to be in punting range of someone. Those lobbies were populated with primarily blue SRs by the end.

So I don't know, I'm not sure I could call it a punt fest myself, I'd need to a race it more times before I conclude that. I also think this is once again a week where classes should be switched around: Gr.3 at Bathurst and Gr.4 at Sargenda.

That was interesting. Bottom half of the field were D/S. A/S won and the rest were B/S. Did the undercut on the F-Type, when I caught up to it. Passed it as it was exiting the pits. We both had 31% fuel remaining, but I guess my pace was better. Qualifying lap times don't tell the whole story.

I (EMEA) used an existing US alt account when the game launched just to experiment with things and keep the dopamine flowing with new rewards and achievements. However doing dailies was an absolute nightmare. Suddenly i had the weirdest lag and playing brazilians basically meant i could be punted off by someone 6 places behind and three corners back at any time. Shortly after my free ps+ ran out and i let the account die. Did they fix those absurd lag issues ?

Tried the Jag, Corvette, Aston, Viper and RCZ in race B and while i won't affirm anything at my skill level, i was faster with the AM (very stable as @ringkurier mentioned), the Jag and RCZ. No matter what combination PD gives us, i always love driving on the mount and while the race is short it enforces a nice 'one more go' mindset.

Set a not so fast qualifier for Race C in the Lancer and decided to race it with the Atenza. Fuel mapping set to 2 from the start so i don't have to fiddle with MPD during he race too much as i manage to **** that up every time (ds4). Started 15th, 13th after 1st corner, 11th after 5th, 9th by the end of the lap. Long story short; Atenza very stable, good on fuel and tires, no penalties, nice overtakes and a 6th place finish. With almost two lap worth of fuel left in the tank  Tbh, these races feel better then taking a win when starting from third place.

Finally DR C !

I think that starting from the back might almost be necessary if you're fuel saving. I don't know what type of lobby you're racing in yesterday, but when I was starting from the middle in a B/S race in fuel save mode, I kept getting punted at the end of straightaways. I ended up pitting in all three of my races last night after having to do a bunch of driving from the grass and sand pits with some help from my competitors.

I'm going to need to be careful the next couple of races, too, because I'm almost out of SR S and I don't like what I see in the classes below!

So I had a really weird race at Sardegna last night that I would rather forget...

FYI, when selecting tires try to remember that intermediates are not a tire compound between hard and soft.

Next week:

Tsukuba 5 laps N200( I guess MX-5 TC)

RBR 5 laps Gr.3

La Sarthe 5 laps Gr.1

I won't be racing.

Ugh....that makes two of us. I've fought to get back to B/S and I intend to stay there.

Was slightly worried that i would be overtaken a the start but surprisingly enough i wasn't. Room was about twelve C/S and 8 D/S drivers. During the race i got overtaken on the straight twice/thrice by someone on a more aggressive fuel map. One of them i got back immediately after he went in the dirt with two wheels on the exit of turn 1. The Mazda seemed to really shine in the first two sectors, slightly less so in the final couple of corners. I think i pitted at lap 8-9 with about four laps of fuel left and tires barely worn. Can upload the race if you are interested.

Edit: to be more clear: on ds4, steering with diagonal buttons, throttle on X, brakes on square and AT so no short shifting luxuries. I never moved on from Gt1 days

Man, for some reason I have had the exact opposite experience with race C. I've had some really fun, close racing and pretty much any incident I've had were my own doing...I've run toward the front and got my D/R back to up to B/S.

There was the one time I got punted for no reason while leading...and the diabolical bastard that shoved me down pit road on lap 3...leaving me short 1 lap on fuel and making me stop twice. That was so evil I wasn't even mad about it. lol

I have managed to get up to S99 racing in Race C this week as well. Did see some other bad driving though, so I might have just been lucky :)

It's hardly absurd. Data can only travel so fast - around 120mi/ms. The further you ask it to go, the longer it takes.

You're trying to send and receive information from what's cracking on for 12,000 miles - your data has to go across Europe to Lisbon, down EllaLink to Fortaleza (or Praia Grande if it's in the south of Brazil, another 1,500 miles), then out to wherever the Brazilians' PS4s are, then back again. The straight line distance to Sao Paulo alone is 6,000 miles, making for a 12,000-mile round trip, without accounting for routing at either end or the fact that the cables aren't conveniently laid along a Great Circle path. Global ping statistics is showing a 200ms ping between Amsterdam and Sao Paulo right now.

You must have looked like Nightcrawler to them.

 I know, i know.

Is that also why it always brazilians and not the US/Canada guys ? Same in other online games, i can have decent lag free games against NA but against SA strange things start to happen.
20 of the fattest cables in the world connect US east coast to Europe, in as straight a line as they can manage, over a distance of about 4,000 miles - because they're vital to the global finance markets. They spend billions to shave 1ms off the transaction time between New York and London.

Technically, and I'm not being unkind, Brazil is a developing nation. There's simply not the same investment in connectivity both to South America and within it. The cabling from Europe to North America is state-of-the-art and like an arrow. From Europe to Brazil it stops off in Cape Verde on the way, as it wiggles across the Atlantic.

I did finish my quick lap time assessment for GR.4. From the back without practice, just to get a quick idea of what cars I'll be concentrating on for the rest of the week. Not the Alfa 4C

2:21.059 Alfa 4C

That's really surprising. The 4C is not good at Panorama (tracks with multiple long straights never are) but I didn't recall it being that bad.

I know it's not a race time and far from great but I did qualify with 2:14.5 in it. I haven't raced yet but I can't imagine race times would be 20 - 21s. I'll try it and see later even if I'll be left in the dust by yellow Meganes.

That's just city to city on high speed servers likely direcltly connected to the back bone. So add some server to home lag on top of that.

You're lucky in Europe. Toronto to Brazil is 180ms lag city to city, we always have to deal with that...

I saw someone do 2:17.5 in it at the front. From the back it doesn't have the quick response to pass on the mountain and is slow on the straights. Constant megane noses sticking in slows it down further. I couldn't get any flow with it because of that.

Two dirty races in the morning, back to SR.A. First a Ferrari bumped me off after I passed him cleanly, next race a 4C forces me into the grass and the wall. I guess that's the way to stay ahead in the 4C

And this is why Ladies and Gents, South America should have their very own region IMO.

Ah, that makes sense. I don't think I'll bother racing it now , my time is likely guaranteed a 14th - 16th place grid start. I wasn't trying to discredit your post just genuinely surprised at its time compared to the rest of the Gr.4s you tested. Thanks for the explanation.

Damn it! I thought it was just the yellow belly, lilly livered ones

Too much work to check the color, the thing shouldn't be on the mountain full stop

I've reported over 200 of them so far I think, not that reporting does anything. Perhaps it will put a slight uptick in the stats against meganes

First race in SR.B, 3rd place finish. These guys are very bumpy, I never got SR Down but still finished with neutral SR. No penalties from Meganes yay. Megane won of course although another F-Type had the fastest lap.

Second race in SR.B, I get bumped off in T1 and get SR Down. Then an 86 somehow manages to crash at Reid park, can't avoid, 5 sec penalty for me. Rest of the race, brazilian yellow megane dirty blocking all the way. 10th place finish, now in SR.C. Megane won.
