So, a day late but ran a couple of Race Bs in the Huracan and this time did a warm up. Would you believe it?! Car behaved normally, plenty of FFB, lap times were good, and was able to push rather than always be on the back foot.

Both races started and finished 2nd, 0.7s behind the victorious Porsche. The first race I only got close enough to him once where the closing speed of the Lambo into the Senna S saw me try a late move but not quite enough there to make it stick without being naughty, the second I had two attempts where he defended tight into the Senna S, problem was on the first attempt I still had my sector times on the display rather than the radar (have started to use it - a little at least!), and the second I wasn't really close enough to drive around the outside.

The second race could have been very different though had I started on pole rather than in 2nd. Which I was about 30s from doing - just one corner away from getting a 31.2!

🤬🤬:banghead::banghead: :D

Tyre temps from warmup carry over to the race start?
Have no idea but the difference was huge. No warm up and I was all over the place, no front end grip and lapping mid-high 1:32s on a good lap, warm up and the car behaved normally from the off, just a few corners to get up to 'proper' temperature, then could push and pretty much every lap was in the 1:31s

Same car, same race and same idiot behind the wheel! So unless it's a connection issue there must be something in it.

*It could also tie in with @breeminator s theory in the FIAs that the first corner is often so tricky because the cars have been sat still for a couple of minutes while they 'announce' the grid and the tyres have gone cold

Well I'm calling it for the night, lost my bottle and mega punted a dude. He'd made a rash overtake attempt from behind me at T4 and punted the car in front almost all the way out to the barriers, that's a big run-off area. So at T8 and again at T10 he got a 'vette up the right rear corner. Showed him the chevy hood emblem in his rear view again at T12, but declined the opportunity for a third bang, then dogged him to the start/finish after which I let him get on with his race. Happy with the result, he steered clear of other cars for the rest of the race, but not happy with myself. Also not happy with (but deserve) -16 SR. At least the penalty system got that much right.

Ran one more race to prove to myself that I can refrain and now I'm off for the night.

There's other cars in Gr.X besides the open wheelers. Any chance it might be the Rote Sau?
Edit: Nah, at 13 laps the race would be too long (by PD standards) and would run too close to the 30 minutes, if not over.

The SF does 1:30 laps I think which is already on the high side for race C. Including stop almost a 20 minute race, usually it's 18 minutes. 1:20 laps would make it an 18 minute race.

Back to the Nord in the morning. 6 am is still too early for clean races, nothing but swerve blocking (on the straights) and pushing you off when you come alongside for a pass. Bad for SR as one of the last second blocks got me a 4 sec penalty. If PD ever fixes the penalty system this behavior needs to be addressed as well. It can't be that hard to look at steering input when a car approaches at a higher speed from behind. Last second swerves with nothing in front to avoid should be penalized to stop this. Blocking is not racing. Defensive lines are totally fine, driving by mirror to block the car behind is not.

Next race the same. All you can do is let them bump you off and make sure to take all 4 wheels outside the line to trigger a penalty. It's not fun but there is no other way with these slow cars, overtaking takes a while to complete. It still resulted in a crash as when blocked on the middle straight the car in front rolled himself over my car, then called me a scumbag. Good to know, early morning is block hours. I ended up with a 5 sec wall penalty but no SR loss and had an 18 sec lead on the car behind me at the straight. That was enough.

Oh, see you back at December 16th, I've been banned until then from this thread. (I guess edit still works)

Right, that's enough.
It is entirely reasonable to refer to the nationality (or region) of a driver with whom you have had interactions - positive or negative. There's no innate lack of value in noting it. I had a nice race the other day with a Polish driver on my FIA EMEA account, but I had a less than nice race with a Costa Rican driver on my US account.

It is not reasonable to refer to drivers of that nationality (or region) with a blanket negative stereotype. Aside from the confirmation bias, it's rude and has always been against the GTPlanet rules. And we are GTPlanet, not GTEnglishspeakingcountries or GTNorthamerica. We have members here from the nations that people often like to make comments about. Do you think that it makes the site and its members seem more welcoming and friendly when they read these comments?
Despite all my warnings in the past, I've been watching this thread sliding into negative stereotyping of nations again. I'm going back over these posts, and anyone - anyone - who's done this will now not be able to participate in this thread across the next round of races. We're at four right now. Any repeats will result in a permanent thread ban.

As noted in the quote above I don't mean referring to having a bad race with someone from the UK, or notes about how lag across a continent affects distant users, but comments like "Spaniards are dirty" or referring to the entire continent of South America as "animals", both of which are in posts I've deleted today. These are indefensible.

We are GTPlanet, and this thread is a direct comments thread for a front page article every week. If you cannot discuss your races without using negative slurs against other nations, you don't belong here.

I ran a few more races at Interlagos last night. I went with the Corvette, which might be my favorite car at the track I've decided. My first race was grea t -- I got through the first lap mostly unscathed, and was able to run 4 laps within a couple tenths of my qualifying time which hasn't happened much this week. After a couple races at SR B, I'm back down to SR D after one race where I got dealt a bad hand on the first lap and stopped caring for the rest of the race. Racing at SR D is awful. My last race last night I got knocked off the track on T1, and ended up having to try to pick my way through people who were running laps a full 3 seconds slower than I did the race before.

I also ran a few laps with BOP'd Gr 4 cars at Spa last night. I bought a GT-R, and I had an AMG in the garage. I thought they were both nice, although my 2:32 laps don't hold a candle to y'all who can run 2:29s in one try with every car, haha. I'll buy a couple more Gr4 cars to play with. I'm tempted by the Subaru and maybe either the Mustang or Corvette. I'm going to try to get some practice in before the races start. I was SR S when I was fast enough to be in the top 2-3 qualy spots every race, and I'll want to be there at SPA. (As a side note -- my best SR weeks were Big Willow and Lago Maggiore II -- both of these tracks have 90-100 mph corners, and it's much harder to dive bomb)

Edit: Maybe the most obnoxiously American thing about me, besides drinking large cups of drip coffee, is my love of 90/00s NASCAR liveries. I can't make them, but I've found all the ones I've wanted so far, so thanks for those of you who do. My personal favorite? The Mark Martin #6 Viagra livery for the Gr. 3 Mustang.

Speaking of nationalism... Back when I started playing the game, I actually believed Spanish Drivers were more overly aggressive than others...
Luckily I quickly found out that every country has its selection of **** drivers...

Nationalism aside... I really hope next week's Race C isn't with the new Jag..
It's soo heavy and unpleasant to drive even with medium tires... The center of gravity seems off, I really don't like taking corners with that thing... And Catalunha is literally just corners...

Awsome brakes though..

The determination I made a couple days after the update is that the change they made is a reduction of grip from the tires. That's why in the Hamilton challenges people are saying that the car is understeering.
At Lemans, my car was getting loose under heavy braking, but it didn't do that before the update.

I wonder if they did it to make the LH challenges more difficult.
I'd kinda like to delete the update so I can see my lap times with the same grip that Lewis had. 💡
Maybe PD didn't like that so many were beating LH's times.

I found the same thing yesterday at interlagos. My best time (lambo) was a 32.5, and I was doing high 32's and low 33's in races with the Merc and 911. Had a race in the 911, and even a clean lap where I was catching traffic was only a 34.2 when I felt that I should have been deep into the 33's with my lines and the overall "clean-ness" of the lap.
I tried the RS-01 since someone mentioned it was good here. I went in cold with only 1 1/2 pre race laps. Big mistake! I slid wide into the green on T1 and went off twice more, and almost looped it a couple of times on the first lap , I guess due to "dirty tires". It actually got sideways in 3rd on the run out of the last corner. Lap 2 the grip started to be somewhat normal and I didn't finish last, but it took the rest of the race to catch up and pass 2 people to finish 3rd (from last).Best lap was a 34.4. Hopped in the 911 in practice and my first lap was a 32.9. Go figure.

I think you missed the point.

@Famine is doing his job, which is to enforce the rules of this forum and execute action when violation occurs. He does not require thanks, although he may appreciate it.

Your satement does not help in any way. You basically just called any alleged violators "racist"... Which is exactly what we are being told NOT to do!
How is anybody supposed to actually know the color of the skin of another player? I have roughly 250 friends who I completely trust to race fair, clean, and fast anytime I am on track with them. I know the skin color of exactly 5 of them.

If "nationalism" is bad, why did PD give us our flags? I'm proud of my American flag. Are you not proud to be German?

"end hate speech"
Did you mean to do that?
What is your definition of that term?

Does anyone here feel like the racers in dailies have gotten quicker over the last six months?
America’s region?
Yes, and it pisses me off! A year ago, I might have said we were about equal in speed with most combo's. I would gauge my times off of @Pigems , and could usually get really close if I put in the time. Now both of you have left me in the dust! I can sometimes challenge your Q times with some combos, but often struggle to get within 1-1.5 seconds of either one of you. Maybe I'm getting old...I remember watching King Kenny ride the back wheel down the front straight at Assen "to cool down the front tire".
I have noticed that I need a LOT more laps to really get the lines down on a track than I used to.

yes definitely it tink we have more European Asian players than before who use a American account and you always have guys like me who have more time to play in winter because i dont work in winter and many guys i know they play more from October to April .

Good point about the ghost feature, I forgot about that...
Random thoughts, last night saw a 911 on replay who had not gone off track but got the tires red on the fronts, the indication was only on for a brief moment though. I’ve no idea about his bb. He had trouble several corners later even.
Dirty tire loss of grip for going off track effect is definitely increased both severity and time.
I noticed group c Lemans that proper turn in use of steering input ie turning in progressively and in one motion resulted in excellent grip and drive out of the slow corners. Turning in too early and having to correct caused traction break.
Progressive tire loading results in higher grip limit it seems to me.
The aspect of blending off brake and adding steering input on entry and adding throttle while releasing steering angle is more touchy, but doing well rewards you imo. It’s helped by really nice self centering Ffb. Subtle throttle blips with tcs in slow sections at Interlagos really let the heavier cars rotate. The off throttle or even letting up on throttle shifts weight over the front and lets the fronts grip and rotates the car quicker in the tanks I like.
Re speed. I do take my driving relatively serious and when I got the game I purchased the online version of Ultimate Speed Secrets authored by Ross Bentley.
Even after a lifetime driving, I learned so much by reading that and apply it everyday.
I got faster from skimming interesting bits of that book periodically than practicing for hours. It takes time to apply the knowledge, and get the actual skill, but it greatly helped me become more aware of what was causing me problems in GTS with times.
The framework of knowledge given in the book applies 1-1 to GTS imo. Imo anyone who hates not being good at something and wants to improve on racecars in GTS should get it. You’ll be there lapping in game and all of a sudden something from the book will kick in and it’s like light bulb.
I think they are moving the game forward with detail and the tire model is evolving imo and solid race driving fundamentals are always good to have.
Also thanks for the compliments.

Next week's racing looks pretty good. Especially Race B where the track course is Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps with GR 4 cars and Race C is Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix Layout with GRX car. At least it different than repeat over and over. It's uplifted me to challenge once again. See ya all on course!
I had forgotten Catalunya was in the game, they haven't used it for a daily in so long.

someone mentioned dirty air.

I wonder if that's what has changed? It would be nice if PD would actually reveal some of these things to us instead of having us try to figure out the changes. All I know is that I am still over shooting apexes on braking, or wildly undercutting them.

I have hit the same braking point at Interlagos and sometimes I hit the apex just right, sometimes I run very wide, and sometimes, I end up cutting across the grass. No Idea why.

I think dirty air has changed too. But I'm seeing significant variances when lapping on my own.
