Lots of good clean racing around the Ring tonight. Seems to be very few deliberate attempts to take people out.
There was the usual side by side in exactly the wrong place to try to overtake type stuff, that's where I pick up places, ha.
My best placing of the evening was 3rd, happy with that. :)

On the last update ( approx jan 10?) they removed the collision detection penality. Only cutting track and hitting wall remains. I think they did so because the update before that made the penality even worse than ever before. So now it will be SR.S for everybody really soon.
I have seen a contact penalty since that update, driver got four seconds for forcing a clean pass off in the inside of a turn. The contact penalties are still there but they're MUCH harder to get.

Had some good racing last night on the ring. 2 really good long races with an A driver who must be tanking DR or something as both times they parked at the pit entrance at the end of the race. Oh well. I still was ahead on 2 of them. Pretty good clean racing, and with the lack of penalties it was stunning to go slightly wide, come back on and be in a pack of people with 5 sec penalties. There were some wall sliders in that race. As it was heading to the second karussel I just had to hold steady and not touch anyone and suddenly I was back in the clear on the straight.

What do we do guys? The penalty system is such a joke the game is borderline unplayable. People can punt you with no penalty. How did Poly think this was a fix to the penalty system? Just had a guy murder me in the FIA race with no penalty at all. Someone talk me off the ledge here..lol.

In two years of Sport Mode, I've probably rage quit less than the total number of fingers and toes I have(including opposable thumbs).

Lighthearted talk, all I can think of, is that movie with Ray Liotta. He commits a crime in the military and is sent to an island of convicts(no, I'm not thinking of Hugh Jackman in the movie Australia :P). PD seem to be leaving players to their own devices. Are we all going to race the same? No. The majority will probably have decent races.

In my races today, they were clean with the players around me. A few nudges, but it wasn't unlike real racing. In the NAtions race, I saw silliness. One player in a GT-R straight ran another player off the road. When it slowed due to that behavior, I passed it. It was behind me and I didn't trust it. Going into T1, I slowed as much so that it could get next to me and by me while I made sure not to be escorted on the gravel. Just got to work smarter not harder from here on.

If you're not going to join lobbies with friends, pick your battles with strangers. For every knucklehead who doesn't care what they do to anyone in a race, there are a majority that will just want to race. Only way to find out, is to keep racing. 👍

They could punt you without getting a penalty before the change in many cases. At least now you don't get a penalty for being punted.

I must be a disaster or something. Decided to do a few Race A tonight to try and load up on CRB. Whoops. 2 races went fine. Third race I am starting 10 of 11 and there is the mass pileup in turn 1. I zip down the inside where it is clean. Nope. As I clear the pack I get the 1 sec penalty for colliding with another car!
Race went well anyway, made it up to P5 clean the rest of the way. But did watch a couple people get punted. Somehow I am down 5 SR and off to the Nord to get back to normal.

The penalty system is still not great. Fun battle though:

I don't think I've ever looked at the notifications on that account  I will have to add you next time I'm on there.

SUNDAYSUNDAYSUNDAY! (OK, technically Monday). One last spin of the wheel before next week's races. I did some laps with the '17 Lexus. Not quite quick enough, but I figured I could improve. I was wrong. I entered the race, did qualifying, and was consistently 1s slower than I was with both the Corvette and R.S.01. By all accounts I should have started P10/16 on the grid. Instead I started P5 on a mixed grid of DR/D and C.

Race starts, car doesn't quite turn in the way I'd like, but I managed to hang on. A couple of cars go off ahead and I move up to P3. P2 was carrying a penalty, but I wasn't quite close enough to get enough overlap for a clean pass. I was having trouble turning a few times, and so i got passed on the second last lap, and again on the last lap. In the end I finished P5, where I started. The Lexus is good for Race Cs, but I just couldn't get it to perform on this track as I have been able to on other tracks.

SR blue, DR up by 600. Another day above DR 1 :odd:.

What do you mean with "regular" ?

By regular I mean someone who I have seen before and knew to be (somewhat) trust worthy in the way they played.

It's been a while since I've done Daily Races but... what the hell happened? It's nearly impossible to get SR Down, this whole week I've been getting matched with people who have been dive-bombing me into every turn which should not be happening at SR S. I've had four consecutive "clean" races, and every one of them I've been slammed up the inside by someone, and I've even retaliated once and ended up pushing someone off the circuit after they did it to me. No penalty, no SR Down. PD what have you done?!

@williams_v_r

@Astrorobotica is a regular. As I said, someone I can trust. I know what to expect.

I haven't played Sport Mode since I made that post. I play Sport Mode more than any other for several reason.

1 - I know when the races are going to start, unlike lobbies where you can wait half and hour for a 4 lap race
2 - I know what to expect from the competition, for the most part. THIS point is where most of the penalty hate comes from for me, and I suspect for most people. I want to have a reasonable expectation that people will play with some regard for others and, if not, will suffer some type of consequence. PD feels that lower DR players can get a pass on penalties that higher DR players have to endure. Now, no one is getting these penalties, so no Sport Mode for me.
3 - Above all else, I need a reason to play. Sure, being in lobbies and chatting with friends is ok, but I would rather do that in person over beers. I need something more to bring me to the races. Sport Mode ranking may not be important for everyone, but it adds just the right amount of motivation for me. Unfortunately, rankings are essentially a zero sum game. People can rank up by finishing ahead of me, but that means I lose rank to a degree. If that occurs because of skill or racing incidents, I am ok with it. But, it's now happening with true dirty driving, and I am not interested in that.

This latest update is a shocking slap in the face. Even if it were a mistake, it is a shocking slap in the face to not issue an immediate apology. Seeing as I have not read or seen any apology, I can only assume this is an intentional change.

It's PD saying "here you go cry babies!! How do you like it now?" Which is a terrible way to deal with some actually good ideas and good feedback from the people that give your paycheck a reason to exist.

Hi all. I hope everyone had a good week. I haven't raced much this week. I have no interest in the front drivers, turns out I'm slow (again!) at Maggiore, and though I've come to love the Nord, unlike the 86 we had last time, I am not having fun in the Porsche. All of my racing has been in B, and with the exception of my last race, it's all been on my alt account from the back. I did try a bunch of cars, and my best lap was a 58.1 in the Supra. Got up this morning and decided to try the bug. Since it's pretty stable and I know I can hop in and just drive it, I entered a race and had 4 minutes on the clock to get used to it. First lap was pretty clean and a 59.7. Second lap I was up almost a second going into the last corner, and I got WAY sideways with a too aggressive downshift and turn in, and lost all that time, but didn't actually get to finish the lap before the race started. At least I knew I could come close to my best in this car.
The race was not bad. I'm very happy with the finish, especially concidering the room. To say I was off the pace (Q wise) would be an understatement. I can't say I made any racing passes, but I did take advantage of some less-than-major mistakes, and of course the spins... Anyway, I still have my A. Who knows, if we hit a string of combos that I like, I may keep it! For now, I'll take a top 10, and CRB, in a room where I shouldn't have been able to. BTW, it's hard to see, but that's me, the last qualifier...

Edit: I just checked my stats. I lost 19 DR in that race...

My biggest problem all week in race C is fast guys that don't qualify.
They are passing in stupid places dive bombing & generally being a menace because they see a clean pass taking too much time & they may only get 4th instead of 5th after starting out in back.
I'm getting spun, tapped to go wide & having to survive while one of there idiots decides to pass on a corner that is low percentage at best.
Then they have the nerve to call you out after the race for holding them up.

I'm a DR B & sometimes A so these A+ & S rated guys assume they have a right to just barge past, it's maddening!

I generally try to give room but that usually ends up with me losing a bunch of time, so from now on with no Q guys I'm driving like verstappen & not cutting these guys any slack.

With the lack of penalties they have been getting for bullying people off the track they just don't care about anyone else.
