I think you just got unlucky. My last race I started P7, got knocked down to P10, finished P5 and my SR went from 85 (it had dropped from 99 the race previously) to 98. The penalties may have been lag related if the game saw one thing and you saw another.
thanks:i forgot about the lag-in hindsight there were cars disappearing and popping up all over the place-would apologize to PD but algorithms have no feelings.....

Has anyone had this start "glitch" before?

Also, marvel at me getting pushed off twice before the start line!

Had this a few weeks ago (GT3 in Maggiore). Waited patiently for the blocker to time out and others to leave annoyed and by crossing the line to start Lap 1 I already climbed from 10th to 1st. :D

One from last night

The pole NSX just pulled over and slowed down. 2nd place Mustang and myself just races on. I stayed on its bumper, didn't attack and just gapped the two Slophys behind.

Here's how I handle things when I have the lead on the final lap. :dunce:
Bascially, what happened is that I did what I know I'm not supposed to do. I was thinking too much about the cars behind me, instead of focusing on doing my job.
If someone knocks me off the track to take my position, there's not much I can do about that, but what happened here was completely preventable.
Lesson learned. Again

That could easily be a video of me, i usually choose a black car but a part from that its uncanny. Its the worst kind of frustration when you cant blame someone else!

I can easily say that ive lost more leads and podiums by my own preventable idiotic mistakes then anything else.

I cant come to terms with Autopolis. I dont understand the grip. I can hang with my fellow B players in 3-5th place but I have a hard time lapping consistently under 2:15 since my qt is 2:14,9.

I dominated Tsukuba last week winning lots of races from pole with a qt +1.2% EMEA gap. This week we have a faster longer track and I dont think I’ll pull a single win this week. It really shows my inexperience and lack of knowledge. Thats good!! Time to grind!!

Since everyone seems to be raving about it, I figured I'd try the Jaaaag. I took far too many laps of qualifying to actually beat my Aston time. The Jag is ok, but for my money, the Aston is better. Since I had dropped to SR 85 in the last race, this race saw me on a mixed grid of DR/B/C/D. My slightly improved time (I'd managed to *just* break into the 2:06s) had me starting P7/19.There was a lot of AMGs on the grid. Optimum was about 1.5s faster, but I just couldn't find the consistency, and trying was just making me frustrated :irked:.

Race starts with me not pointed in a strait line as the dash for crash starts. I made it through T1 ok, manage to pass an M6 up Mountain strait, only to have him decide to send it up the inside at Griffins just as I started to turn... I ended up scraping the wall but at least not spinning out . I dropped a place but regained it at The Cutting 👍. I was hanging in there, lost a bit of time from the BMW roadblock and grazed a wall, but maintained position. That was untill the AMG behind me saw me slide a little just before Forrest, jams it up the inside, slams into me and rotates. Then he uses me to keep himself going while (he was carrying a 0.5s penalty) I get slammed into the wall. I'd dropped to P10 by the time I got moving again. I was right on the bum of P9, and had much overlap on the inside of the kink, and he just turns into me like I wasn't there :banghead:. I'm not sure if he overcooked it or if I tapped him braking for Murray's, but he almost strait lined it and hit the Mac in front of him, who got sideways. I ended up straddling the inside ripple strip...looked ugly :scared:.

The Mac ghosts and I drive through him, manage to make the turn into Hells and pull away up the Mountain. Caught up to an AMG who looked a bit twitchy, and had to back off a bit so I didn't rear end him. This proved to be helpfull because we both caught up to another AMG.. I just sat back to watch the inevitable happen . It took longer than expected... entry into The Chase, and off to mow the lawns they went! I had a goodly gap behind me so i was cautious on the approach to The Chase, and thorough I went.

I just continued to circulate, focusing on staying on the track because in my hands, the Jag was not living up to the hype. I found it twitchy and prone to understeer compared to the Aston. Lap 7 coming up to Skyline I see the yellow flag and an AMG not looking too healthy. I pass him, but he is right on my bumper around Forrest, but he didn't knock me into the wall . I see a puff of dust on Conrod and a ghosting Porsche, and thought I'd managed to grab another place, but sadly he was a back marker getting lapped. The AMG was right up my arse, so I was expecting him to make a play at the entrance to The Chase.. either he over cooked it or was trying to avoid hitting me, but he ended up on the grass a bit and haemorrhaging time. I knew that wasn't going to hold him for long, I was being a lot more cautious just trying to keep it together.

Lap 8 and he was on fresher rubber because he had pitted earlier, but he was also being more reckless, and it showed.. he grazed a wall after getting a bit wayward exiting The Dipper, so I was able to keep my gap down Conrod. He was right on me across the top of the Moountain. I was surprised to see the BMW in front, I had somehow caught up to him. The AMG passed me at Skyline. I hate people passing between the entry to Skyline and Forrest Elbow... it's narrow and I'm just freaking out trying not to hit any walls! To his credit it was a slick, clean pass. Then he got a bit loose after The Dipper and took some paint off the wall... I passed him on the change down and brake dab at the kink before Forrest Elbow. I had a gap down Conrod, but he wasn't far behind. I was expecting him to try something, and he kinda did. He braked later than me for The Chase, but I was on the inside, so he wasn't going to pass me there. He ended up on the grass... again. I finished the race P5.

SR went up 13, so I got back all but one of the SR I lost in last night's fiasco :dopey:. DR went up 730. My DR is now the highest it's ever been :scared:. Usually on my visits to DR/C the highest it gets is in the 6k range. It did go up to 8k on my second visit, Day 111 it made it to 8118... it's now day 524 and it's more than 100 over that . The DR/C journey continues .

You’re gonna be up to DR B soon! Nice work man!

Any news on next week's races?
May have to wait til tomorrow or Sunday.

Now, Race C was going okay. I was on the tail of a GT-R by Lap 2, after moving up a couple spots. GT-R spins off, I try to concentrate on the F1 up ahead. I misjudge and grab grass at Sulman. Drop behind another F1, GT-R and 458.

Starting behind the 458 so the F1 and GT-R don't pull away, the previous GT-R wants to dive down the inside at The Chase. Bumps me wide and wants to redress in front of the Ridges Hotel(seems like I've seen this before).

I decide to pull in the pits after getting 7 seconds for that.
Come out in 8th. Serve my penalty and fall to 12th. Fresh tyres I catch a GT-R struggling. It spins tyres exiting the Cutting and I pounce. I give room at the next corner and it still taps me into the wall. I stay ahead and a fellow RC F follows.

Catch up to an RC F '16 on the last lap. Pass it between the PZ down Conrod. Finish. Whew!

"Your gun is digging into my hip..."

Well, that’s enough for me today, Penalty system is still crap. Twice at the bottom of the back straight I was on the inside heading into the hard left and the guy to my right couldn’t hold his line and bumped my door, both times I get a 5s penalty and they get nothing, both times I sent them between the uprights in the next corner. Not really their fault, but I was sour that their lack of ability to hold their line ruined my race both times so eff it.

Yeah, this new system really doesn't allow any contact there and the penalty usually goes to the wrong person from what I've seen. It's frustrating when you see the type of stuff that goes unpunished elsewhere.

I stopped trying to pass there (or give someone room to pass me there) after a a few bad experiences.

There’s other Sportmanship that’s important for there because it’s so tight. I can’t tell you how many times I got dived bombed at the end of the front straight just to have to ride the brakes as someone was all over the place up and over. I try not to push past, and because there’s not much ghosting there’s nowhere to go. Like you drafting to catch/pass me doesn’t actually mean you have more pace.

My most enjoyable races were when I was in the front pack and people could routinely negotiation the mountain without killing themselves, and we’d pull a huge gap to the middle of the pack as a result.

Still work afternnons friday cuse the equipment i need to wash gets used in the morning. So i race.... first race c of the week with 3 laps warm up was pretty decent actually. Started 4 surounded by gtr's and amg's ti fill the top ten. Fell to 8 by the finish but had a clean race with some good battles along the way. Lost all the spots at once when mowed the lawn accross skyline, and got reset on to the track.

Happy friday boys and girls

Just quit a race for the first time in several months. My car was terrible from the start for some reason. I could barely keep it under me on every corner. I put a guy in the wall coming down the hill on the first lap cuse he tried to pass me (why do people do this?) I tried to give room but just couldn't, Got a 4sec for that one. Ended up at the back eventually, and the one guy back there with me decides to push me on to the grass at every opportunity. I ended up so far back with a car that would barely turn with three laps left i just couldn't do it. The last time he pushed me over i thought i would be ok but then the car spun. Was stuck doing donuts on the grass cuse i was to close to the track for a reset. Pretty sure i will get crap from the wife cuse i yelled expletives, pretty much at the top of my lungs. No more for now.....

@williams_v_r not your fault man. Guys in front of me parked it on that turn. Good to see you on the track, wish i had a better race...

Getting absolutely rinsed in S/A rooms, like qualifying bottom 3 of 20 with entire room A or A+. I have found that pitting helps, you lose 4 to 5 seconds and it's very easy to make that up, plus the guys in front see you gaining and make mistakes.

One thing i do capitalise on is the close running of the guys in front, often there is a bit of a train as pace is very even and i cannot quite hang with them but as they bump each other I pick them off. I managed to finish 12th of 20 once despite having the slowest fastest lap.

In this company, I am giving up a SOLID 7/10ths through the cutting. If i go tight i am slow, if i go wide i push into the wall. NFI what I am doing wrong but I am being eaten alive through there. I am losing about half second through the 3 fast left handers across the top, I suspect it's because i am likely one of the only guys with a controller and it has inherent understeer compared to a wheel.

I am likely done for the week, enjoyed it overall.

Neither have I, there might've been one or two but that's it.
Not been chiming in while I have been out of action but I can say I did once have a race C with 8 A+ drivers and 5 A drivers. The other B with me in the back was an ex A driver recovering from a reset. I was there with a respectable QT for the room, but it was one of those unicorn laps where I couldn't get within 2 sec during the race. I don't remember the track but I didn't see any other car after the first little bit of the race. I was pissed at being such obvious (to me) DR fodder but nothing I could do. Never seen anything close to that since. Maybe 3 A+ in a race, but never more than that.

Maybe the ABS glitch? I had that happen on my alt account. I couldn't hit the brakes in anything but a straight line without losing the ass end or sliding through the turn.

I guess it is just volume of players. Over here there are enough that when I hit DRA and SR-S, I am in rooms where I can do a 2.04 at bathurst and be stone motherless last in qualify. Brutal. Not much to lose as my sticker says 20 so I keep chugging along!

Yeah. Just luck with matchmaking. I remember venting a while ago at having a fast QT but still not starting above 10th except for 1 race where all of a sudden I was P4 or something. Of course I bottled it anyway. Consistency still not a strong point:crazy:

The one that annoys me is when your QT gets you something like 12th on the grid and you see that if you were a second quicker you would have started top 5. So I go away and improve by a second and... end up starting 12th on a much harder grid :irked:

Standin' on The Mountain lookin' down on a city. The way I feel is a doggone pity. Teardrops fallin' down The Mountainside. Many times I've been here. Many times I've cried....... Yeh another attempt to worship at the temple that is Mount Panorama. I tried about 10 different cars and i just couldn't gel with any of them. I could get round the track just fine. Some of them felt really easy to get around, but I was always about 2 seconds off the pace I was doing with the cars I'd already raced with this week. One of the cars I'd tried I went back to, and was able to get close, so tonight it was the 'vette's turn. I caught the half past midnight race, and had bad luck with the grid. P10/20 on a mixed grid of DR/B and C .

Race starts and I gotta negotiate Murray's since just before that is where it dumped me . Someone muffed up Hell so up a place up Mountain Strait. I bumped my nose on the inside wall of The Cutting, flicked the tail out a bit, but somehow found myself another position up :odd:. Approaching Skyline and I see a yellow flag. As they said in the Mortal Kombat movie, "It has begun!" Up to P6 after The Dipper and a clean exit from Forrest Elbow. A Merc behind me got sideways at the dipper and took out another car. The Porsche in front of me has a flashing penalty, but too close to the penalty zone. Only 0.5s, so they got going again in short order, but I had enough on them to pass on the outside and make it stick *before* the kink on Conrod :scared:. Unfortunately I was so focused on that that I didn't quite get my braking right, went a bit wide, ran across the grass a bit on the outside of the corner, and gave a bit of a wiggle when I came back on the track.. I was passed by the guy I passed <sobs>.

He picked up a 0.5s penalty at Hells. I was just about to pass a ghost on Mountain Strait, but they unghosted and I bumped them from behind. They got a boost. Things didn't go so well at the braking zone at Skyline, I was out of position for the next corner, and kinda banged and slide my way down for a bit. No penalty, but I lost a position..was lucky it was only one :nervous:. Had a Merc right up my arse down Conrod. Didn't try to draft pass me but I was ecpecting him to try something at The Chase. Sadly I couldn't bring my car up in time and tapped the GT-R in front of me. He ended up on a grass. The Merc then hit me and went off. I pulled over and slowed for the GT-R to re-gain position as he was driving across the grass to re-enter the track. He got back on the track.. then went off again. I felt the second off was on him, so I continued on my way.

I started Lap 3 in P5. The GT-R was right behind me, and probably not very happy with me :guilty:. He binned it at Hells, but I had another GT-R on my tail. They tapped me at The Cutting, and rotated sideways and into the wall. I hit the other wall, but managed to keep enough forward momentum to continue with minimal time loss. Then I see "yellow flag" at Reid Park and passed a Porsche that had spun and was ghosted at 90 degrees to the track.

Lap 5 and I see another yellow flag and see the other Corvette that was in the race with his nose against the wall on Mountain Strait. WTF??? Suddenly I'm in P3 and I am freaking out. I *know* I'm a turtle compared to the rest of the grid. I have no business being there, but, there I was :scared:. I had a 5s gap to P4 coming to Murray's Corner. Some SOD had taken out the markers, so I missed my braking point by a long way and pretty much strait lines it through the sand and into the wall. By the time I got going again I was down to P4, and very nearly P5.

The Beetle in P5 was right on me and as it turned out someone I'd raced a number of times, usualy fairly closely. He and the GT-R a bit behind him got me at Murray's as I did a repeat performance into the sand because I didn't know where my braking point was :banghead:. I didn't make that mistake the next time around. The GT-R messed up the exit to Murray's and up to P5 where I held till the finish.

Turns out the markers had been taken out some laps earlier, so buggerd if I know what I had been using on the laps before it all went pair shaped .

SR blue and back to 99. DR went up 1.1k . The DR/C journey continues?
