Been following this thread, and I have to say I've had some really good races in the 86 this week. Some of the guys out there are interested in racing, and C is a fun combo for close racing. There are also those that seem to only be interested in bashing. Had one guy that kept slamming on his brakes to give penalties. Got a win and a couple podiums on my main account...amazingly, I've maintained my A rating...maybe I do belong here. I have been sticking to races that I can qualify in the top half. Been racing from the back on my other account. Again, one win and a couple podiums, which were all fun races once I got into the top 10. My second account has been a solid dr B, and usually sr S, but is now a D-E. Still made it to 4th in that last race, but served about 15-20 seconds in penalties, none of them valid IMO. We'll see what the update brings.

After seeing what you accomplished in the drift car at Tsukuba, gotta say don’t doubt your ability!

Well you destroyed someone in the long left hander and only got a 1 second penalty. Is that progress?!

Yeah, I felt pretty bad about that but he did kinda turn in on me a bit. Still my fault though.

My conclusion is the PS is much improved now. Less harsh pens, less frequent pens, but heavy SR down for any contact or pens and very little SR up. I lost 15 SR in that second race. The rough ones will be demoted quickly under this system And it also lets you actually race. 👍

I haven't raced online in ages! so Today I thought I'd get onto my Alt-account and try race B a few times, Lost 1K DR but gaining SR

I did get a weird 5 sec penalty of collision with a barrier after spinning... I'm not great at Maggiore reverse, rest of it was pretty decent with an obvious punt someone else gave to a guy in front of me who was punished with a 2 second penalty

No worries, always happy to be the test dummy! :lol: It will make it much harder for the dirty drivers to ever get back into the top lobbies this way, while minimizing damage to the innocent. 👍

No penalties, but the SR downs may have an effect on it. They are heavy now it seems.

Sounds like a good compromise. It's supposedly a non-contact sport after all. SR down is more appropriate than a 7 second penalty for brushing a car's paintwork.

Oh, to add about the penalties. I did do one Race C. Had a long battle for 3rd with two other cars. 4th place was finally able to get slightly ahead of me at corner exit of the hairpin before the PZ.

As we arrive at the downhill right-hander, I have the inside. I slowed for a shallow entry to give the outside car room. It turned into me early and ricocheted off to the left gravel. I didn't get a penalty. Neither did the other player.
 
Race C tyre wear

Anyone else noticing tyre wear is actually noticable in Race C since the penalty update? I would only ever see a tiny bit of red (if any) byt the end of the race, but now, fronts especially are seriously showing wear and handling is edgier. It's like the penalty update had perhaps reverted some other settings to previous versions (such as tyre wear for that car).

I’m about to give Race C another try. As long as the stupid side contact penalties are gone I’ll be mostly happy.

Did two consecutive races, that’s about as much as I can take. Started from the back in both, had some bumps here and there but I didn’t get anything. There were lots of penalties being handed out on lap 1, it was hard to tell of they were unfair because I was just trying to survive. I took a good hit on the side and didn’t receive one, before this update I think it would have been a 8 seconds.

The best way to survive was coasting into t1 and letting everyone crash each other, then just staying on the inside as much as possible until t2. This has gained me 5 or 6 positions in one corner in 3/3 races now. :cheers:

Just made a ALT account for some no quali racing. GTP-DEADPOOL-NQ. Hopefully the NQ is obvious, but I'll add something to my entry message. Time to enjoy some race C from the back tonight.

Yes, things have changed.
Races earlier in the day weren't too bad - much better first corner discipline now that idiots couldn't be sure of their victims getting the penalties. It was possible to make steady progress from the back after seeing what developed in front of you, gradually passing those who got penalties or lost control further round the course each lap.

However, things changed later, once 'Dodgem Dave' and 'Bumper Car Bob' logged on... Now, instead of divebombing at Turn 1, morons were waiting until the concertina effect of Turn 5 kicked in, hitting cars in the rear and punting them off or spinning them out. And of course, the relaxed penalties meant little justice being handed out. It's still better than before, but doesn't feel like progres from a couple of updates ago.

At least I have got back to B/C after being demoted to as low as D/E with all the penalty idiocy lately.

(B/B, after the latest race, although I was punted from P2 to P10 having fought through most of the field to be just behind the leader!!! And I don't think he got a penalty, although he was miles ahead by the time I recovered and fought back to finish P4).

I am the same. Thought it was going to be too much to bother with and a pain with the 2 accounts. But it has turned out to be liberating. If there is a combo that looks fun but super risky I can break out the alt. It has also been good after I screwed up and set a QT for race C forgetting the turn 1 punt fest. Practice running from the back on my alt and it has been fantastic for practicing passing. Not that I am that fast, but to get to my usual midfield spot I still have work to so.
With the lack of penalties I think it is going to be some Tesla fun now as I have gotten to the lead several times in that race only to lose it with a BS penalty when p2 slides past on a bad turn or taps me slightly while being close.
 
Finished the night with 2 wins (from p15 and p16), fastest lap and CRB on both. The penultimate race (check the word usage:sly:) i set the fast lap on lap 7. The final race, I moved through the field quickly, and was in 4th after L1. 3rd went wide in T5, and I got underneath clean and was driving away, and he tried to pit me, then drove into the grass trying to give penalty. Didn't work. Caught up to P1 and 2 on lap 4 (FL 14.5) and thought we might have a good dice. Couldn't make a move for 1 1/2 laps...I think I made P2 nervous because he forced it up the inside of T6, with an extra push to the outside when he was going by. What was a pretty clean battle for 3 or more laps that I saw while catching up turned into something a bit less like racing, and more like revenge. Didn't last long...I drove through both ghosts after the hairpin and tried to get some distance. Managed to pull over 5 seconds by the end, but I would have rather been able to join the battle and have everyone stay on track till the end. Looks like l'll get more racing in this week since I'm home till...whenever. Everybody stay safe, and healthy!
 
Forgot 2nd account has zero cars lol. Thankfully it’s a cheap econo car for C. Getting ready for first NQ race and at E/B, should be interesting.

EDIT: I’m a moron. New account......none of my settings are the same. Got race music blasting, automatic, TCS at 3, FFB all wrong, Nah not wasting 20min. Exit out, set everything up and waiting for next round.

EDIT2: wow I’m dumb. Auto drive was on by default doing all my braking and killing throttle. Quit out right away. Ok ok 3rd times a charm right?

EDIT3: Went 17th to first but messed up and dropped to 5th then back to 2nd .8 off 1st. I’ll take it.

Hi! I broke my rule and raced two C's on friday evening... It was refreshing feeling, I donk know if I was just very lucky but drivers in both races were clean. Of course **** happens and in second race some german punted me and I spinned, dropped from 8th to 20, but guess what? He waited for me! So I think he just made mistake. Thats not the end, now Im 19th with 3s gap to 18, I doing my best and quickly gap is getting smaller. When Im on the bumper of 18, he let me pass, not only giving me space but probably lifted a bit. Next 3 players were also very kind and doesnt block me or defend too much. This kind of situation happend to me maybe 2,3 times since playing gts and its over a year. I made new friends:)

Ran another. 15th to 2nd by lap 2, then first .......then snoozed and missed my brake zone by miles yay dirt. Back on into 2nd and right on him. Got by after a lap and cruised home to first.

That was lots of fun. I even got called dirty, but zero clue what he was talking about. Though I think it’s when I was in 3rd and he was tussling with P2 and they both messed up in the final section and he rejoined and brushed my side. Think he should check that replay lol.

Another good run, had a bit of contact when a guy spun in front of me. Plus the false starts didn’t ghost which created havoc. Having them sit for extra few seconds on the line is dummbbbb have them serve it in the penalty zone. Which developer thought it was smart to have them serve it on the line unghosted?? Or was this a error?

don’t forget to remap your boost button, I only found out then the race started at Spa the other week

It did actually add to the fun and balanced things out racing in a lower group.
 
4 races, 2x1st 2x2nd. Last race had a A+ in the room who I was pulling in the end but he had a 14sec lead starting on pole. Some fun battles in the back. A few light taps when some guys are pulling bonehead moves like braking mid corner when it’s flat. Dunno if it was a blocking attempt but got by regardless. Def a lot of rubbin goes on in the back/mid field.

Well, the new change to the penalty system has definitely changed the tone of race A. Got punted once, tagged the guy back but because I am not good at it they stayed ahead. And get a CRB:confused:. Oh well. Won't have to worry about SR much but DR might suffer. The race is too fun to quit.:cheers:

Okay, only fun when bumps are small, not a massive punt to dead last on turn 1 and then get lag punted off so the hit doesn't register but I get a track cut penalty. I think if I get through turn 1 it'll be ok. That seems to be the new challenge for the night.

AND nope. Next lobbies are no longer C or D rated with lag punts but A drivers milking the system. Have a punt list after defending for 2 corners I got the push me wide while running off to give me 2 seconds trick. Went from a tight 3 way for lead to p8. :banghead: still need to find a way to just be meaner. Starting to think I am simply not nasty enough to ever get to A.

So I get pole in a competitive field, but with people I have been beating all night and it disconnects me. FF:censored:🤬🤬🤬🤬:banghead::banghead:On to other things tonight.
