Sarthe dropped me to SR.E today thanks to the crash kiddies, then the races finally got clean in SR.C. There I had a couple awesome close contact free battles with Argentina and Brazil. No TS050s down here, plenty GR.C cars and TS030s for whatever reason. I ended with a second place finish with clean race bonus after drafting and swapping places with a 787B for the first 3 laps, still starting from the back. Half the field quits down here though....

So still possible to find good races, but it takes a lot of tries to finally get matched with the right people. Meanwhile my DR was reset to 7K when my SR was all the way down to 6 from BS penalties getting rammed off. Now back to 9.5K and 51 SR, back in SR.B where there were zero clean racers before. So good time to start on dinner while downloading Uncharted 4.

Over 31K DR down, but I did finally find two clean races in a row!

I can’t get a clean race.

Tapped from behind on the first lap guaranteed.

Got back up to C/S and called it a night.

I'm not such a fast racer or even that consistent but I do try my best , clean racing is by far better than the manic punt fest's I have been in recently.

I do wonder why it seems after reading several times on this thread that people have such a bad case of Revenge !
I understand that someone has just spoilt the race for you but why have all the stress of retribution.

Even to hunt down the offender in another lobby is just childish in my opinion , I may be wrong but surely if people stop the "getting back" then it may in fact reduce the first instances of punting in the future.

Because humans have different personalities. Some people like me don't take any crap from anyone. And that extends to real life as well. But this is just a game and damn right I'm going to make their game life hell for being dirty to me. Plus it was on an account that isn't my main account so he messed up as I don't care much about losing some points for a while.

God forbid we were all like you and just let dirty players have their way.

I've only managed one CRB this week so far. Since the race is 42.3 miles, and I have raced about 638 miles this week (looking at my stats), thus one out of 15 races, where I consider two (the last two today) to be clean enough to say there was actual racing going on. The first clean one I got lag tapped from behind for an SR Down so had the 'luck' to stay in SR.C for another clean race.

It has never been this dire in all my GTS history of 11,330 sport mode races. The days where I could drive all 35 GR.3 cars from the back to make a clean race bonus chart like this, are gone :ouch:
bBCki8H.jpg

That was on Sarthe last October.

The last time I did that was on Spa in November before the penalty system went completely tits up with 1.53. Sure there was a time when CRBs were thrown out like candy with 1.55 but there was no challenge in that, nor could you call any of those races clean

Oh, 2 clean races out of 15, still better than none :( (Beat saber just release a new free song and U4 finished downloading! no GTS tonight)

If we were all like him there'd be no dirty drivers.

And in fairness, a large fraction of those thought of as dirty are not dirty with intent. They're either incompetent or driving laggy connections, mostly the former.
I count driving beyond one's racecraft skill level as incompetent, no matter how quickly and consistenly one can lap in practice and qualifying. Many of these drivers have never watched a replay of themselves from the other cars' persective so they don't even realise what tossers they are in a race.

Frankly, drivers opinions of their own skill level are little more inflated in this game than they are in real life. Ask just about any speeding driver, stop sign runner, etc and among their justifications is "and I'm a good driver, I can handle it..." :sly:.

Plus one, but on NA when you start playing say 45k to 60k there’s a fair amount who make those points off the nose stick and baby shove. That’s their bread and butter I go nuclear when they try it on me over time they will learn.

But you hit on the key point of all lack of skill, plus “I have an unbeatable car” So many can drive fast but no idea how to race. It’s one reason I’m always pushing Ross Bentley.
On c race imo the safest play is flatout group c. Whatever car you can drive best. It’s fun and you pretty much control entries to braking zones. I got from B to 99 tonight just by drivin smart. Top fives...Racecraft, Thanks Ultimate Speed Secrets book. There’s absolute gold all through it. Should be required reading for all...
Lmao tonight I was victimized by idiocy but didn’t retaliate now I’m 99 as usual.
Today was a good day.

There are definitely a large number of drivers who are using the idea of 'no penalty no problem' in their justification of their driving.

I have been rammed in the rear in acceleration zones so many times this week as people aren't aware of the hybrid vs gr. C differences. Same with many swerving to block, they don't seem to realize I am going 20mph faster, not 3. I have given up on retaliation unless 100 pct warranted, for instance after multiple infractions. I was working hard the last couple nights to play tactically and not take some overtakes when I could as it was setting up a massive punt risk heading into a slower turn with a hybrid favored exit. I was getting less penalties that way, less contact, and I often got to watch the others make massive mistakes due to the pressure of me riding right behind them for a lap in a supposed uncompetitive car.

Also had many in the META go for a wildly optimistic overtake thinking that because their car is more favored in the race then the pass is a given. Had to just get far more aware of things and space, realizing the kind of moron trying like hell to take me 2 wide in tertre rouge because he made up 0.7 seconds from corvette to there is the kind to let go as i can easily have them on the straight and more than likely they will take that aggressive driving straight to the penalty zone.

Drive what you drive best, keep your head on a swivel heading into braking zones and know your limitations, including those of the car. Exactly why I am driving one of the 'wrong' cars this week. I am safer, more stable and overall faster in the thing, thus better results.

Also avoiding Dragon Trail Seaside this week. That place is a death trap for me lately.

Finally on attempt #223 I managed to get the win on Race B.

As an added bonus, with my consistent garnering of 500-1000 DR points per race, this victory has taken me into A Rating

Race B has trashed my DR rating more than any weekly race in a very long time. Not sure why -- I usually do OK on this track. And once you slip into a C rating, it becomes a total puntfest. It's like I'm trapped now. Anyone else?

Tried the LMP cars. Started with the R18. I can not drive that thing to save my life. How is it, that modern car has all the downforce and the Group C cars handle better? Rubbish.
And I'll own it, that I was rubbish with that car. Went from 9th to 19th(last) and only finished in 16th, because a 908 and I think a 919 I was racing, both went off and pit towards the end.

Switched to the TS050. Thats just ridiculous. May as well do the race on 'Pause'. How was I at 6.0laps of fuel after the second chicane on the main straight?
The LM55 had me beat fair and square, but it kept getting the same .5 at the Porsche curves. THEN, final lap, it takes it easy through there. I'm beat... It then brakes too late for the final chicane! 1.0 second!! That player could have put the game on pause and finished. Damn shame.

You all really don't need a reason to use a Group C car, but I'm posting this anyway

You can FM the group of S curves leading into the finish and be okay not messing around anywhere else. Also FM once you hit low/mid 5th gear on straights.
So only the Porsche Curves and the one after it? What FM should I go there?
Was also short shifting (3/4 of guage) through almost the whole race

Whatever the last sector is. Not sure of the names. There are 4 or 5 grooving bends before the final penalty slow down area before the finish line.
Yup, those are the Porsche Curves I believe
Should I wack the FM up to 6 there?

That's not what we were discussing. We weren't talking about some sort of utopia or lack of skill.

Set a faster time in Race B(from a 40.5 to a 39.3), still started from the back.

Had one red bar, but made sure to brake early and stay off other players bumpers.
Was going good until a Supra doesn't slow up for the COD as I'm slightly ahead in the right. Bumps me into the wall(no penalty for either of us), but the knucklehead hits the corner exit and done.
Next, an Atenza wants to take the inside going into the "better be sure"(bbs) first chicane. I'm slowing for the optimum line and get bumped wide. 1 second penalty for me. Hate that crap.

Took everything within me not to punt it off at the hairpin before the PZ.

Anyway, had a clean battle with pennanton for 10th, literally to the finish.

Is it best to not stop or pit in the 962?
On FM2 it barely lasts the whole race
It all depends on your driving style. I no stop in the 962. I go FM 2 and rev 3rd all the way out at the start. Then shift 2/3 of the rev bar for 3rd and 4th rest of time. Leave it in 3rd gear for the chicanes on the main straight. I can then usually have enough to switch back to FM1 for lap 5, but still short shifting in the curves and that small straight after mulsanne.

I think same discussion was here 2 months ago? So I repeat my opinion:) If during the race someone punt my back in braking zone for example, I go wide or off track, loose position, I DONT CARE if it was on purpose or by mistake or by lack of skill. Result is the same. I understand that everybody makes mistakes, so if really it was by mistake just be fair and give position back. If dont I treat it like dirty move and give it back. Very simple. Some may say its childish, but isnt more childish believing that punter will changehis behaviour without beign punished for his actions? I dont think so... Why we dont put our hand into fire? Yes beacause we felt pain:)
BTW there are new races on kudos only 2 now, tokyo and nordschleife

I've been keeping it on FM1 (I find it too much trouble to try concentrating on driving, switching between radar and fuel map, and changing fuel maps). I shift up almost as soon as the revs register on the bar, and try to keep it in higher gears till the tyre wear forces me to use lower gears on corner entry. Even with the Jag I've been able to no stop.

I've just got to throw it out there, the Beemer M3 is a massively fun gr3 ride in race B at DTS.
Not as slow top end as you'd think, and it goes through the CoD like it's on rails.
Also puts the power down like it's got TCS on.

I enjoy driving it. It's very planted in all facets. Looks good, sounds good, love the livery I made for it. It's just slow. PD did BMW dirty with the M3 and Z4.
