Think I must be missing something then.

It is kind of difficult to explain. It's just something you learn to do. I'll dust off this video. Notice when I take that left leading up to the top of the hill? There are faint whisps of tire smoke to indicate the braking technique I've tried to describe. You're correct that it will kill tires quicker, but I don't do many daily race Cs.

What rating are you? I use partial throttle using R2 trigger and TC at 1 and still go off. Not sure how using an on/off button and TC at 0 is even possible.

Is there a general poll on what typically people are using? L2/R2 vs X/O, or stick vs motion? I thought it would be a non question.

I use a wheel, but have raced motoGP on PS for years with the controller. The buttons are NOT on/off. They are pressure sensitive and, with practice, part throttle and braking can be done.

I played gt 2-3-4-5-6 and sport with a controller using x for gas and [] for brakes. (Now have a 300rs gt)
You can modulate gas and brake by tapping the buttons in a frequency. Trail braking is possible this way and works flawless.

Had a decent race.

Had an RX-V behind that raced clean, left room and was patient. Another Supra was fair as well. We werer moving up as many people were spinning out due to contact. I'm guessing it's the new collision "dampening". I got hit/tapped, by the RX-V, on the last lap and was able to maintain control.

CAn't wait til everyone learn that braking on the racing line doesn't mean "OH, YOU L:EFT THE DOOR OPEN FOR ME TO OVERTAKE?! PERFECT!". The cars I raced with were braking straight and we all followed one another on the optimum line. Nice real racing like.

Anyway, Race C is next in the TS050.

Edit: I couldn't call that in a million years. Stasrted 15/16.

Players were throwing the win away. Someone pitted on Lap 3. I still don't see how players are riding walls. Gently apply the throttle. Braaaaaake for turns.
I have to watch the replay to believe what I saw in the live race. I got up to 5th place and The leader was way ahead. P4 was all over the place. P3 was out of boost and P4 wasn't showing any patience at all. Tried to gom into a gap that wasnt there and the wall stopped the car. P2 spun somewhere and that left me in P3. P2 got a penalty. The leader was 12 seconds ahead and That vanished after the leader crashed.

From lap 8-11, Players pitting. I have 2,5 laps ledft. NO conserving. Probably saved fuel by slowing for the crashes and yellow flags.
Pitted with .6 in the tank. Filled to 2.0 Laps and still had the lead by 2.5 seconds into T1.

Last lap, int to T1, the computer tried to get me. I was casutious and slowed up. Turned and the car felt like it was bogging down. Felt like no power steering(I use a DS4) and I'm slowly moving to the edge of the track. Oh hell NO! dabbed the brake a bit, turned more left and gave it some gas. SO weird. My lead dropped from 3.5s to 2.3s. Maintained my composure for the result in the pic.

Morning! If I remember correctly yesterday was some ingame info about todays "server maintance"? In EMEA between 6-8? Question is anybody noticed any changes? Maybe BoP?

Wow, I did not know that. Thanks

I did a bit of digging, I think you'll find this is no longer true. PS2 and PS3 controllers had them but all the information I could find says the only analog controls on the DS4 are R2/L2 and the ministicks.

No BoP. Patch notes say collisions between vehicles in sport mode races are less elastic (less like billiard balls, more like lumps of plasticine or putty). No sure how much difference it's made but it should help reduce the effectiveness of the punt and the push to pass strategies.

Thank you:)

So I was hoping race C would not become a total cluster until tomorrow night. No such luck. Tried to have a quiet 1 and recover my SR from the chaos last night. Got 6 seconds of penalties in 1 lap. A 4 and a 2, both from someone flat out not braking and punting someone into my rear. I keep moving up positions during the race, but this kind if last to whatever I can recover is BS. Since I basically waste lap 1 then start at the back but pissed off. Dropped another 20 SR. Once we clear turn 1 lap 2 it seems to cool off, but until then it is a right war zone.:ouch:

Oh well, 1 more because I am stupid.

People ask why would you race without qualifying? Here is the answer...

Anybody experiencing problems with the servers? I've gotten disconnected from about 10 races today... That's never happened before, really odd. There goes my DR, about 5k worth, lol. I don't even know why I'm still trying but I am!
Is that Race A? - I very rarely get disconnects, but Goodwood is one of the two circuits where it happens to me (can't remember which the other track is!).

I've been DR level B for what seems like an eternity. But I've been driving with throttle/brake on the X/O for over 20 years. Like I said, it's something you learn to do.

Some have started otherwise, but I reaffirm your statement that if the game didn't play well on the controller, we wouldn't be playing the game.

This would have been helpful at Interlagos FIA last weekend.

Wow im off pace on this weeks combos. Gardens 1st sector is killing me trying to ride them sausages. QT 1.32.222. In the WRX..not good enough. OPT is 1.31.656 but cant even get back to the 1.32.2. Tried just about every car the 458 was good to drive round there though

Never done Sardegna before this week. Im liking the track, apart from the game starting you flying into a bend. Whats all that about? I tried to quali in the Audi wasnt working out well. Used the TS050 much prefer it. Still only a 1.27.8. Good fun thou.

Since i am off today i hit the track early. Two race A so far and both were run away wins in lobbies of 8 or 9 people.

After the second race. Someone called a fellow canadian i have raced with a lot dirty. I said i doubt it, and he said to go 🤬 ourselves with canadian dollars. Whatever that means. So i sent him a nice canadian apology/explanation of my comment. Kill em with kindness eh?

Oh he is in the next race.... lets see how this goes

I use D-pad to steer and X and square to gas/brake and also tried a wheel for a few months. Big issue issues are .....

a) turn in is poor compared to a wheel, there is inherent understeer
b) Long corners kill you pace wise
c) you lean hard on the tyres
d) You need to square up the corners to be fast, so more a V apex than a U apex, this means you can get rear ended a bit. A good example f this is the left/right/left in the middle of Garden, the last left I need to wait a smidge longer than wheel users and then plant the gas, can get hit because of it
e) Tough to be smooth in general, especially in traffic

I am time poor (played once in 6 weeks) so struggled to adapt to the wheel. I think the wheel is harder but ultimately faster, trail braking alone cuts significant time.

Speaking of jumping in after several weeks, I am SR B right now and man, just brutal rooms. Absolute savages, cannot wait to get back into SR A.

32.2 is slow? Damn. That's my optimal, I ran a 32.6. Cannot fathom a 31.

Try the Beetle if chasing a lap time.

Well the x / o seems pretty interesting for gas n brake, here I was complaining about the little wiggle room you have for control with the triggers, lol. Kudos to you guys!

Excited to get good with motion control for steering, I can immediately tell my lines will be smoother and faster soon!

Bad habit of releasing my “hold” on the controller when I don’t take a corner well... really bad idea with motion control on lol.

The race after my last post was not a good one. I got sent to the moon on the high speed left mid track. Ended up at the back, but close. Then in the chicane the guy in front of me stops dead, no ghosting, when he hits the wall. Ended up dfl with fastest lap on lap 4. Got an aggressive response to my psn msg from goofy, whatever man, I'm not getting sucked down to your level. I didn't and wont be responding. Haven't seen him again anyway.

Having great races with a solid crowd, most of who i know, since. This combo makes for some amazing racing, with the right people

I've been reading the controller scheme you guys use and haven't found one that does the same as me: throttle is right analog up, brake is down. Gear up is R2 and down L2. I've been using this scheme since GT5. I used to use X and [] on GT4 though. I find it good to modulate the inputs (within reason), because you can run the analog along the side of the circle, not exclusively up/down. It helps holding half throttle for example.

I use the left analog stick to steer while using the right to shift then triggers R2/L2 for gas/brake. I can't even grasp using buttons!

A lot of Beetles in the daily races this week! Good week for me, just stay in the slip stream then drag them all day in the Ford GT for some easy DR. That car is struggling to keep up even in my slip stream but it sure is easy to drive maybe that's why so many beetles this week, folks keep tanking it thru the chicane.

So far I haven't qualified any further back then 5th with 1:31.320
