@KiepeYai Were gonna race for more than a lap one day, you watch!

I caught a penalty for cutting the chicane, I was worried I was gonna hit you lol. After I slowed for penalty I got punted in the hairpin, down too last with another penalty, so that sucked.

but it was my first time with the viper, so I was all over anyway lol.

next time! Goodluck. Good finish

AMG been most consistent for me here, but not my fastest.

Best times here in the Atenza for me, but the slightest slip up and I’m in the sand, so don’t trust myself for 10 laps lol. Maybe I’ll keep practicing.

Tried the R8, don’t think I took a single turn “ok” lol, kudos to anyone running MRs. I’m sure their fastest if done right, but I definitely can’t do it lol

I tried a Race C last night. The lobby was almost all DR B's, with just a couple of other DR C's like me. I finished a respectable 8th and got a clean race bonus in the Beetle. I have now reached DR B for the first time ever! That was a fun race (other than that nasty chicane - I think I went through it differently every lap).

My qualifying time was good enough to start in 5th place, so fortunately I was way ahead of the chicane at the start. I took a look back and my qualifying time for this race was actually better than what I did in the Gr 2 race at this track back in April. It's really fun to keep seeing those kinds of improvements :).

Almost made it. I worked my way up from last to almost first. It was not to be. I kinda had no choice but to go to the left of the yellow car. It's not where you want to be, but I was hoping for a miracle.
Wrong place at the wrong time, I guess. No big deal. If I cared about wins, I'd qualify. It was fun, though. 👍

Some good racing today, at Race A. Found that the Fit is indeed better for the racing situation, at least for me, since everyone is in Fits, you don't really have to defend all that much if you focus on just going quicker, since you're all in the same car. Unless you get it completely wrong, you won't have to defend, but there's also some questionable behavior...

(ShareFactory screwed up my meme and delayed the music, thank you ShareFactory .)
Seriously, a good race ruined by a salty person. Stay away from them.

Other than that, I had two other races which were much better, finishing where I expected instead of tenth after dumb penalties and dumber drivers :D.

Next time I see that guy, I'll try to piss him off. We'll see what happens. :mischievous:

haha see you soon, our brief was really fun while it lasted , hopefully next time it will last ,

i went on to fight with other four players and i guess we were all closely matched, we was all within a second ,oh boy it was damn tense , this track punishes heavily if you exceed the track limits even by a tiny bit, it was penalty after another on my side haha,,!! See you out there

And I’m actually loving the 911 because it’s smooooth,

Tried the 911 and immediately beat my qualifying lap, and had the most consistent lap I’ve had so far lol.

Only used it in one other series, and remembered I was blown away by what I could do in low gear corners! “Smoooooth” definitely sums it up:)

Excited for this! May help me better feel out the grooves of the track!

Done 3-4 races here, with only a handful of decent laps, and nothing I would call a good race.

Seems like a track I would really enjoy, long corners/throttle trickery! But it’s also been a little intimidating lol. Which makes me want to do it more, but makes me nervous to enter if I’m not feeling it!

Edit - Hope to get some good races with the 911 to get the confidence up! Or atleast get some consistency and any sort of confidence/agility when in tight packs! At the moment in traffic, I’m simply trying to guess my marks, while not pooping myself...

Really pushing the limits of my trail braking uhhh “ability”! Which is a good thing, really enjoying it!

It's no secret my disdain for FF cars. As it turns out ,my T-GT wheel didn't care for them either .I did a firmware update recently ,what a difference that made .With the Scirocco in race B, I could really push it hard without all the noises and resistance I was having to deal with for the last year and a half.I have avoided most FF dominated races ,that now may change :D:D:D

I didn’t think that a firmware update would apply to us running on consoles. Might have to check & see if mine might have an update.

You were in the top split for that race then most likely. The game just takes the top A12/B16/C20 drivers available for a given race and puts them in a lobby, then repeats until no ones left. It doesn’t even look at your Q time, it just sees that you’re SR 99, and in you go.

Maybe its because I'm not winning enough but these daily races over the past few weeks have been ordinary.

Biggest weakness in this game is the tracks, too many feel like you are fighting the corners rather than attacking them. Around Spa you feel like you are on the attack, finding time the braver you are and the better you take the line. At Catalunya, man, joyless...utterly joyless. If you replaced Fuji, Catalunya, Alsace, Autopolis and St Croix with Road America, Road Atlanta, Imola, Donnington and Oulton park it'd transform the weekly races.

Raced a bit last night. Got a win and a podium (2?) In A driving the Fit. Half A and A+, the rest B in most of my races. I started 3-5. Came down to the players around me. If they were clean, it was follow the leader unles someone made a big error. Most were stuff it up the inside and push you wide type races. I give what I get, and I got my win in one of those. Guy forced his way through, and I followed through his carnage and passed for the lead in T1 on the final lap. No, I didn't give him an option, but I also didn't knock him off track...maybe a wheel. I drove a clean lap, and he had to deal with 2 other mad drivers, so an "easy" win in the end.
Race C was harder. Managed one 3rd out of 3 races, up one spot. Other 2 races i started in the back half, about 1.5 seconds off the pace. Tough. Finished up one and down one spot. Today I looked at the top 10 for A, and ran over 20 laps. Many 35's, with a best of 35.518. Back to #7 for now. I may have a high 35.3 in me if I do the laps. I saw as high as +.3 after the 35.5 but I always seem to blow it somewhere. I WILL finish on that damn list one week. Even if it is in a slooow car.
Gotta try to find some speed in the gr3 now. Maybe I'll try the Porsche. Been driving the Viper (stable) though I think I went fastest in the Ferarri. I remember they were close, but in a race...

Mixed night for me starting with a P3 in Nations onto a few shocking races in Barcelona....that track doesn’t agree with me. Jumped onto my alternate account for some no stress racing and had the closest race I’ve ever had. Check out the last couple laps.

Lol race C was bananas for me tonight. Karma galore!

1st race -
Lap 1/2 were good until the final turn into the straight. Some carnage (and I don’t remember what happened) but I end up smacking some else who was trying to avoid it.
I slow for them, even though I don’t really know what happened but I smack them into the PIT! Now I just feel bad... so I wait at the end of pit road leading me to 17th.
Karma came back to me, on the last lap I caught a pack, and gained 5 positions from them playing bumper cars with each other.

2nd race -
I’m all bent out of shape because someone punts me while flying back into the track after going way off the hairpin.
Then I punt someone at the hairpin :(
I follow them on the track slowly to give them lead... Don’t someone coming... and punt someone in the same place they punted me, coming back on the track :(
Then again... last lap I catch the pack ahead, and gain another 4-6 (don’t remember) spots from more people being way to aggressive lol

crazy night. Both races caught some bad luck, and gained lots of spots last lap.

moral - don’t quit Barcelona :). Goodluck out there, phew!

I dont think theres enough tracks in the game, not enough variety and the clunky implementation of race A doesn't help.

The layouts of Alsace and St Croix just don't resemble real racetracks. Given the tools, I could design better. PD could as well, but they seemingly choose to focus on cartoonish gimmicks before getting the layouts right.

I wasn't expecting much from race C but the racing is actually pretty good (even against lower DR's). Turns 4 and 5 in particular are good for overtaking because you can run different lines without compromising your speed.

There is some strategy too since you need to keep the tyres cool, work too hard at the start and you will suffer at the end.

The purple flowers and the castle though...

It seems to me that the best tracks are the ones that evolved from real world roads, airfields and the like. Purpose built race tracks often seem to have a stilted feel, be it sim or real world.

That being said, I do have a soft spot for Trial Mountain, Grand Valley and Deep Forest ;) :D

I have a preference for Apricot Hill & Red Rock Valley. Always were a challenge, but always made you come back for more.

For Race C so far
Tried the prosche and the Merc both so far I've won each race
I've not been on pole but I think the tyre wear of those cars and just making fewer mistakes has got me the win
Race pace has been 46.3-8 roughly
Really enjoying it though it's such a tense race for me for some reason haha

Nice pace!
I just started GT Sport, I am slower than this but so far it is enough to win.

How much pace are you losing during the 3 last laps?

Depends on how hard I'm concentrating tbh haha, the last race I did I was 46.3 as my best and 46.7 at my worst except the last lap I did a 47.0 cos I had it in the bag

If you want advice for it, I drive pretty much the whole race in the same way
I don't brake really late everytims, often a little early then just hold a lower smoother brake pressure to bring my speed down without destabilising the car
Same with the throttle, I rarely stamp on it always make sure I drive nice out of the corners and straighten up to avoid it snapping and wheels pinning
This is much easier in Fr cars and the Porsche I feel to do, they seem to be the easiest to drive smoothest
The tyre wear is pretty minimal if you do your best to slide them as little as possible

Other thing is to really practice the final chicane, cos if your confident enough to straddle both kerbs you can gain so much time on people
But if your coming into it hot slow down extra or just do everything to scrub speed or avoid that first inside kerb
The amount of top guys I've been racing where they have hooked and nearly spun there is surprisingly high

Road rage has been received and dealt lol
I was just racing this guy in a Porsche
He's really high rank so expected a little better
I just beat him in the previous race he made a mistake and then couldn't get back past me

This race I was expecting more defense and whatever
He starts by weaving down the front straight
I don't know why more and more are doing this but it's stupid
One it causes accidents
Two slows him down
Three probably distracts him from his braking point cos he Ballsed it up

Anyways a few laps in I'm right on his bumper get a nice run through the chicane he goes to the right I follow
He then darts back to the left then back to the right
Then I pull alongside just as the pot exit meets the track
He then pulls aggressively to the left I try to avoid it but just can't quite react in time and there's very minor contact between his rear left and my right front.
He gets a 1sec penalty obviously very harsh but was all his fault for diving across the circuit and I wasn't squeezing or anything literally had just pulled out and he veered across.

So coming out the hairpin T5 he pulls to the left, Ive played racing games long enough to know what he's up to but I've got nowhere to go
I hesitate on the throttle at first but then go for it and sure enough he takes me off the circuit down the straight after that hairpin

I'm still within a second of him though so when he serves his penalty I get past him and brake defensively sorta 3/4 across to the left and can see he's closing fast on the radar
So I let off the brake and turn right to let him have the corner
On my screen no contact but for some reason he got another 1 second penalty
Which makes up for the one he didn't get taking me off the circuit in my books

I haven't retaliated or anything to make him extra mad just for the record not yet anyways lol

Anyways take 2 down the front straight he stays on the right this time so as I come to pull along side I drift back to the left, (I was on my toes ready for something)
Then just before the braking zone he turns left to the outside of the trsck, I see it coming and brake I touch him ever so slightly but on the side
He drifts a bit wide off the circuit so I think he would cut the corner to keep track position
But he doesnt he comes and pretty much tbones me at T2 I go right off wide nearly spun
He gets another 1sec pen
2 seconds in total

I'm only down to fourth and about 1.5 behind when he serves his penalty
Once served he slots in right behind me
So I'm driving with one eye on the mirror and one on the road haha

To my surprise he's mostly fair, gives me a little bump at T3
Then at T5 I run wide he comes through and gives me another shoulder charge and I thought at this point I had enough he was ruining races for a few people by this point
T6 he actually braked early which made my job easier and I gave him a nudge got a 3sec pen for my efforts

Still finished P2 in the end

In the chat everyones just saying he's crazy, no respect I just said I took one for the team haha
I quite enjoyed the race by the end was spicy

Edit: hes sent me a friend request right after the race no idea why, but CBA to talk to him or add him just hope I don't bump into him on track lol

He starts by weaving down the front straight
I don't know why more and more are doing this but it's stupid

Yesterday the fellow ahead of me was truly being a $&@&. Weaving, double blocks, hugging inside t1 then going latebrake trying to run me off, the blocking I can deal with, I will get around, but then the sideswiping trying to run me off when I have the run on the straight...
I stayed clean for three laps, but finally ended up forcing my way to his inside and running him wide.
He was about 1 more bs move from getting punted in the hairpin. It’s why I always run tcs 3 on gr3. The swerve blocking has been common in my races for a long time...
Fair defense fair hard defense mid race I respect, but sometimes even one attempt to run me off on purpose will end with me just punting them.
It’s like “NO, BAD DOG!”
People never expect tcs3 enabled and when they try to bash me and I’m in a powerful fr with tcs well, they are screwed.
It’s definitely not more than one race in four for me, so it doesn’t ruin the experience. To me, running high A A plus on the tracks I race, you can tell it’s not mistakes it’s not accidental when guys get rough, so if they decide to try to shaft me, usually I go FULL HARD punt into a slow turn, ensuring that they get reset, just brake ten meters late, straight line, done right I hardly lose time and serving 2 seconds is fine, they will still be way behind.
I think this is correct etiquette for dealing with this type of cheating player. In ACC game it’s different because it takes so long to build rating, and all incidents of contact negatively affect both players. Shared fault works.
That said that’s solid pace on c, sir. I ran high 46 low 47 on a qual of 45.8.
I run the vet, I’d like to try the 911, but before when I’ve used it in race it’s been difficult to use...
The vette is still a force to be reckoned with gr3. I think Catalunya is a great track.

Cheers

Starting to see results from all my hard learning, becoming more and more consistent with top 5 finishes, clean races, keeping my SR, even had a race lap faster than my qualification time last night so definitely getting better.
I have found that the video clips that some post have been a grate help in seeing ways to improve my own driving.

The Race A was bumper cars for me and i didn't actually enjoy the cars and the race so i joined the first Race C of my sport mode journey. I bought an AMG GT '16.
Started 14th in a mixed field from DR A+ to D, all SR S, with a 1:49.516 qt. Not much drama, few pilots spinning in front that i passed.
Finished 9th. Man that was heartpounding fast!
Last lap i lost traction few times as i'm on tyre wear first time. It was fun.

Anything stable is good to use tbh, 911 has pretty good traction so it's nice
Although if you can get over the chicane fine and don't have trouble spinning out you should be all good tbh
I think my Quali with the AMG is 44.8 at the moment
I'd recommend the AMG it's got a nice drive in second gear which can be handy for smooth acceleration without stressing the tyres
Only thing with the AMG is the back end can get a bit lively on corner entry a mixture of downshifting and jsut nature of the corners but its a pretty stable and fairl quick down the straights

The AMG (both) are very solid-agreed. The only trouble I had with the new one when I ran it was as you said, also on worn tires I had to turn tcs off because on that car it really bogs it on worn tires.
Agreed on mr in general and slow chicanes, they require a lot of precision where with power fr and tcs you can attack. Tcs in the 911 works great also in qual.
The vet is fantastic on tires if inputs are in smooth mode.
44.8 is movin, maybe I will try the AMG, I haven’t run that in at least six months or more. :)

Edit: to anyone struggling on c race turn on driving line, it really makes a difference there if you are struggling for time.
That was the first track I ever used it on when learning and now I absolutely love it.
(No I don’t use it anymore there)
