1 Race C this morning. Started 7th/finished last. Was doing well until half way. Missed Mulsanne corner, twice. Like a chump.

Didn't lose that much DR so I guess I was punching above my weight. Sven was on the grid. I was ghosting when he passed and didn't see him again. Really wanted to do better and race with him. :(

The "Charlie Brown" is another favorite defensive maneuver given that the target is likely on tilt, and will usually provokes a rage quit when done properly. That said, it is difficult and all about timing. When done right, however, it is a beautiful sight to behold.

When you know the punt is coming...

1. Set-up to block the inside, leaving plenty of room on the outside.
2. Slightly early brake
3. Maintain 80% brake pressure (will also mitigate the effect of punt if it connects).
4. Fake turn-in and swerve to the outside.
5. Initiate turn-in after punter sails past.
6. If they are going to make the corner, then initiate the PIT - otherwise let them fly into the wall/sand/etc. for a penalty free smile.

:::taking notes:::
This ‘Charlie Brown’ maneuver shows a highly complex synthesis of several techniques linked into one combination maneuver. Very advanced stuff.
:)

Just watched a replay of a race and with no contact with others I lost SR on T2 mmmmmm and apart from some light rubbing from others trying to pass on corners I can't for the life of me see why I got collision penalties. This is getting just a little frustrating as I do my best to stay clean always. (SR loss of 56 in 3 races)

Is anyone else having this happen at all?

^^^^That move is technically a kamikaze. I give him high marks for accuracy by taking his victim out without collateral damage, but he loses points on the basis of taking himself out.
A true punt is when your opponent ends up ghosted and reset or stuck in sand or damage and you get ten or 12 seconds ahead with no or only a 2 second pen.
Here we see some advanced techniques. Now, initially here there appears to be no opening

However with careful braking control and good aim at the quarter panel this can be achieved as we see here the initial slight shove...
View attachment 941961
So now the advantage is gained...The 911 is past!
However the vette driver here thinks quickly and accepts a track limits pen to return the favor...Also opening up the steering ten degrees mid corner...

The end result is shown here...

This technique is applied by ARTOFWAR certified level 4 drivers as needed.
It’s the #turnedthetablesonyou maneuver.
It’s useful in certain situations.

The guy in the Lambo here is dirty and dumb. I don't think he read that Art of War book. :dunce:
If you're gonna assault someone, you better make it hurt. He gave me 4 weak hits, then I gave him one. But I made mine count. :D

As for this week is the coming end. Race A and Race B were okay. Race C is worthless. Several times I start last with no time Q and jump to between 5th to 2nd place. What I gain is damn little points. Plus oh my goodness many drivers are so reckless and stupid. Deduct big points after earn penalties. So I find that Race C is totally worthless to race. Next week race seems to come more realist I hope!

Ended up SR B. But thankfully managed to string together 9 clean races. Back to A/S.

But yes. Very frustrating to be penalised for so little or be the one who takes the penalty when it wasn't your fault.

Personally, my advice would be, take a break, then come back to it and just try enjoy the racing. Its so easy to get focused on DR and SR. That you end up just getting frustrated and make things worse.
Another option is to race very passively and just let people by. But with the system as it is. There will be that one person. Who still manages to hit you and get you penalised.

Track limits. If you run off the track it also reduce your SR.

If you aren't getting any points for finishing as high as second I suggest that you are really close to move up in DR or just moved up. You are obviously put in lobbies where the majority has less DR than you and because of that it's almost impossible to gain a lot of points..

I have been fortunate enough to be put in lobbies where I start in fifth-third and have door number 14-18. I have gained about 800 DR per race.

When you climb higher it gets harder to gain points. This is why so many A and A+ only run in FIA

Nords with n600, nahh I’ll pass

Interlagos can be pretty fun, this is one of my best overtake, it felt really good when i made it stick,

thanks to 911 for letting me jump on throttle early in everycorner with Tc0 without worrying of losing the rear haha
,,
i like it when people are scrapping hard and I’m behind them bcs I’m always ready to pick up the pieces look at them going three wide,

As much as it pains me we will have to move on from Le Mans. Just trying to guess on cars for next week.
Guesses for race A:
Either of the Honda 800s, the old Porsche 356 or maybe the old Alpine 110.
For race B I figure it'll be the Lancer again, but couldn't they do something crazy, like the old Super Bee vs the Mustang, or the NSX of death. Or is it just me that can't drive an NSX?:yuck:

People brake checking, sideswiping, ramming left and right.

Sounds like your average Sunday drivers.

Guesses for race A:
Either of the Honda 800s, the old Porsche 356 or maybe the old Alpine 110.

Porsche 356 was used before and Fiat 500 '08 in a recent TT, maybe one of those or something wildly different like a selection of N100s or the Samababus.

I hope Race B isn't a Porsche deathtrap again.

Back in the lower lobbies its just bumper cars not racing at all, and dam hard to get back up.

My odyssey today started when I said I’ll do one last b race. I started midpack in a strong room. The first turn was not taken well, I was swerve blocked and cars bunched up I was in a mood like “I’m just gonna send it this race.”
(Mistake). Anyways I experienced the new system firsthand.
I took 2 2 second penalties which normally I would have avoided. But I was like a 2 year old you tell don’t touch that it’ll burn you.
One b race 99 to B sr.
No matter I thought I will cleanup in c race. Things were going fine 3 clean bonus in a row, then I was 96 sr and matched with some friends. Lap one I was draft bumped for one sr down. I was overtaken. I lifted cuz hey I don’t want trouble go by yanno? Lap 2 I was also overtaken and draft bumped once for sr down. BOOM 96-80 sr! Wow.
So 2 more c races and finally 99. (I did see an old friend who I draft bumped, then he ran himself off lap one and got into the pack. His lobby greeting is offensive. Lol after the race 3 players were calling him out for dirty behavior, at C sr! good luck with that!). That made me smile and I’m now finished. Early this week I was down 3000 dr, but now only 800 down from where I started and back 99.
This new system makes it tough to recover if you don’t have 8 or more hours to play. Best to stay careful. My final race this week...

Awesome race quality this morning at Le Mans, fast, clean. I raced from 8am to 2pm, plenty clean race bonuses including a streak of 3, no issues staying at SR 99, DR up to 37K, not bad for a reset to 15K not 48 hours ago while not qualifying :)

I saved a couple replays as well to edit some clips together, close contact free racing. Well mostly contact free, in some I have my nose tucked under the spoiler of the R92CP in front of me, drafting down the straight

Side by side through the Porsche curves as well without issues.

Perhaps some more races tonight, or go to bed early to get a jump start at the Nordschleife

Ran a few dailies today and only a couple of them weren’t boring. Here’s the most exciting moments of each.

Close side-by-side final lap battle for podium after getting murdered from P2 early in the race

Great first lap, followed two guys fighting for position and took advantage of the openings when they came.

By far and away one of the best revenge punts I've seen in a while. Course he still lost out.

Completely out of the blue...

I had one good revenge punt this past week. Actually, I had 2. Got a penalty for both. But, I don't take too kindly to people trying to damage my snake. He bites back. :mischievous:

Does anyone know if there's a tire wear factor for race C next week. Will it just be another FF Pugfest?

Resist the FF. I personally don't care what the META is, I race what I'm comfortable driving. Some drivers suck, so they think the META will save them. I've seen on numerous occasions that it doesn't. My snake will be slithering around in the Gardens. :mischievous:

Can't complain about this weeks racing, though I did all my racing on my Alt, from the back. Last race of the week, and @Sven Jurgens was in front of me at the start. Looked like I had a good start, but I went into Indy in a crowd, and either I got tapped, or I locked up and ended up in the dirt. By the time I got going again I was last and down by maybe 7 seconds. Got going again, and started to get a rythem around lap 3 and put down some ok times. Found myself in 5th, about 12 seconds down from Sven in 4th. He got FL with an 08.6, I ran a best of 09.1 on lap 5. I finished right behind him in 4th to his 3rd...12 seconds back. This was a fun combo for me, but I wish the draft had more than 1 mph for the 92 on top. Did keep the races from being a 1 make, I guess. I hope for a good car at the nord. Could be fun!

I agree, it was a great week of racing. Sunday evening was a bit of a change from the morning, first race from SR.S straight to SR.B, lag SR Downs all around. It didn't matter, had some great fun getting back to 75 SR.

My second to last race had a 3:05 qualifier asking to pls not let him run away in the hybrid. Challenge accepted.

Close finish. it took a while to get clear road to chase the rabbit. I got right behind him at Mulsanne in the final lap, then passed on the way to Indianapolis. The TS050 sprinted passed again yet the 787B easily outrun the hybrid to the Porsche curves. Then it was a matter of being fast and being 'wide' to the finish, no leaving a clear opening for the sprinter. It worked.

I did one more race after, finished 2nd with FL 8 sec behind another 787B that got ahead early.
That race had one of the funniest first lap Mulsanne corners:
eS8NJQ3.gif

13 to 8th and I wasn't even going for a pass, carefully hanging back.
It's a miracle I didn't get a yellow flag penalty

Matchmaking tends to get weird in SR.A, no SR gain for that race. One SR Down for a side bump from a car without any effect.

Great week. Tomorrow to throw 38K DR away. DR reset on Nord will likely be next week's theme.

Dunno if ever talked before but the 458s with different colors have different speed/traction. I seen it talked on the lobby after the race also. I really believe there are lots of algorithms in this game that never heard of.

Saw a strange strategy in Race C yesterday - guy kept deliberately cutting the last part of the final chicane, earning himself a 0.5 second penalty. However, it put him far enough ahead of me so that he stayed in front after running down the penalty in the zone on Mulsanne Straight.

The strategy fell apart on the last lap though, when he got an additional 1 second penalty at Tertre Rouge
